The Town of Colma Recreation Services Department is currently accepting applications for Recreation Leaders for Summer 2024.  The Recreation Department provides programs and activities for Colma residents of all ages ranging from infants to seniors. Program elements include fitness, enrichment, cultural events, special events, sporting events, trips, and community events. It is the goal of the Recreation Department to offer a balanced program ensuring all elements are offered to all age groups throughout the year. This is a part-time position. Hours will range from 20-37 hours per week.

This position is under direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator. Leaders will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the Summer Day Camp at Sterling Park.

The City of Belmont is seeking a Pool Manager / Senior Lifeguard to supervise the Summer Aquatics Program at the Carlmont High School Aquatics Center.

• Must hold current Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid Certificates. With proof of payment, the City will reimburse you for the cost of the lifeguard certification training at the end of the aquatics season.

The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division is seeking seasonal Election Vote Center Representatives (Office Assistant I) to assist in the upcoming March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election. Vote Centers offer in-person voting, voter registration, and additional services to the public up to a month before the election.
 
We are currently seeking dedicated and hard-working individuals for the temporary, full-time positions of Vote Center Representatives to be hired for the following duties:

• Use an iPad tablet to verify voter eligibility.
• Provide information about the current election.
• Guide voters on use of electronic ballot marking devices.
• Operate office equipment including Windows Laptops, printers, and iPad tablets.
• Provide in-person voter assistance to register to vote and cast a ballot.
• Issue ballots using Windows laptops.
• Maintain accurate files and records.
• Secure Election materials and supplies to maintain the integrity of the election.

The Elections Division is an exciting, fast-paced environment, especially as elections approach. Vote Centers will be open for two, four, eleven, and thirty days. Those hired can expect to work approximately 7 – 35 days including training and onboarding. The election will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The selected individuals must be available for the entire employment period until the completion of their assignment. The last anticipated day of employment will be March 7, 2024.
 
Vote Center Representatives will work eight (8) hours per day in-person once the site opens. Typical hours are 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with the addition of at least one weekend (March 2-3, 2024). This assignment will include one setup day of at least four hours before opening the location. On Election Day, Vote Center Representatives will work from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. or later.  
 
The hourly wage for this position starts at: $22.97. These positions will require working overtime, including long hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays.  

• Authorized time worked more than 40 hours in the workweek: compensated at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the straight-time rate.
• Hours worked on a holiday: compensated at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the straight-time rate as provided in the Overtime Section of this MOU for their work group.

 
NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act.  Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

 

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year of general clerical, office assistant, phone services or computer experience, experience with customer service, and a close attention to detail.
 
Critical skills for all Vote Center positions include the ability to prioritize work, coordinate several activities, organize and maintain accurate files and records, and understand and carry out oral and written directions. Several positions require fluency in Burmese, Cantonese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Tagalog/Filipino.
 
The position requires basic addition and subtraction. Vote Center Representatives must be proficient in the operation of a Windows computer, computer software, and applications. This position also requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, learn computer applications/software quickly and accurately, and serve members of the public.

Drivers will be reimbursed for their mileage.

The ability to work multiple elections is preferred. Office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. These positions may require weekend and evening work assignments.

• Presenting information about the upcoming election

Vote Center Help & Support

• Answer and route calls from Vote Center Representatives, Field Techs and Ballot Retrieval Operations
• Assist Vote Center Representatives in resolving procedural, equipment and/or supplies issues at the Vote Centers 
• Create, assign and/or resolve incident tickets
• Call center experience preferred, but not required 

 
Voting Equipment

• Function-testing voting equipment
• Assisting in delivery and pickup of voting equipment at Vote Centers

Ideal Clerical Support and Customer Service candidates will have a minimum of one year of general clerical, office assistant, phone services, or computer experience. Outreach Services candidates will have strong public speaking abilities and are bilingual in at least one of the above listed languages. Voting Equipment candidates will be able to lift and carry materials weighing more than 50 pounds and must use personal vehicles to service Vote Centers. Ballot Retrieval candidates will have a valid CA Driver License and be able to carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
