LIBRARIAN I or II, ADULT SERVICES (SPANISH BILINGUAL PREFERRED) – ROSELAND

40 HOURS PER WEEK – FULL TIME 

We are seeking an energetic, team-oriented Adult Services Librarian with a strong public service commitment for our Roseland Regional Library. Spanish bilingual skills are preferred. The ideal candidate will be comfortable conversing in both English and Spanish in order to provide library service, outreach and programming for patrons from diverse backgrounds.

Under general supervision, this position provides excellent customer service while performing a variety of professional adult library services, including reference, reader’s advisory, collection development, event planning, outreach, digital literacy training for the public, and performs related work as assigned.
 
TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to:

• Provides general reference and reader’s advisory services
• Explains library policies and procedures to patrons and staff
• Assists, advises and instructs patrons on the use of library materials and equipment, including automated catalogs, the Internet, various software, eBooks and audio book reading and listening devices and digital literacy in general
• Conducts reference searches using a variety of database, online, and other search techniques
• Helps to maintain and select the addition of books, reference materials, CD’s, DVD’s, electronic media, and other library materials
• Assists at the Circulation Desk when needed.
• Assists in and/or directs the preparation of exhibits and the organization and presentation of a variety of programs and events, as well as forming community partnerships for co-events
• Leads book discussion groups
• Promotes the Library out in the community, at schools, and events, and provides written outreach through community publications as well as press releases and other promotions; may represent the Library in meetings with the community or special interest groups
• Helps to maintain social media connectivity to the library public.
• Works collaboratively with staff, the community and special interest groups.
• The Librarian II performs all of these tasks but at a more difficult, higher level. May serve as Person-in-Charge when Branch Manager is absent.

The Community Development Department is seeking enthusiastic and customer-service oriented candidates for the position of Permit Technician.

Under general supervision, the Permit Technician will perform specialized work associated with the processing of building permits and clerical work involving a substantial degree of judgment and initiative; and to do related work as required. This class is assigned to the Building Inspection Division of the Community Development Department.

Typical Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Receives and processes permit applications; 
• Review plans received for completeness and inclusion of required attachments; 
• Calculates permit fees; 
• Distributes plans for checking; 
• Prepares and issues applicable permits and notices in accordance with established procedures; 
• Creates and updates log books; 
• Inputs letters, reports, forms' data, and other material; 
• Maintains files and records; 
• Prepares reports including those of a statistical nature; 
• Provides information to interested parties; 
• Processes complex documents to insure completeness and accuracy; 
• Composes correspondence; 
• Prepares applications and forms; 
• Arranges meetings and schedules appointments; and 
• Operates a variety of office equipment, including personal computers.

Educations and Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and three years of experience involving building permit applications and permit issuance. Completion of coursework in construction management or building inspection techniques is desirable. 

Knowledge of: 

• Building terms and codes; 
• Construction practices and materials; 
• Modern office management; 
• Word processing, spreadsheet and database software; 
• Basic mathematics; 
• Correct English usage and spelling; and 
• Records retention systems. 

Ability to: 

• Acquire a thorough knowledge of the policies, regulations and procedures of the Building Inspection Division; 
• Acquire a working knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations; 
• Understand, interpret and explain applicable codes and regulations; 
• Make arithmetical computations; 
• Deal with the public and fellow employees effectively; 
• Prepare statistical reports from available data; 
• Follow verbal and written instructions; 
• Perform specialized clerical and technical work requiring the use of discretion and independent judgment; 
• Input a variety of material on a computer keyboard at a rate that satisfies the needs of the Division. 

Possession of: Possession of a valid, appropriate California Driver's License may be required.

We are seeking a customer service driven IT professional for our full-time Information Technology Technician II position, which will provide a variety of technical and information systems support and training throughout the library system.

Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager, this position is responsible for troubleshooting computer-related problems; installing, customizing, implementing and maintaining software, hardware and network configurations, and various systems; developing and delivering technical training related to the public services function; providing support for desktop computer applications, Internet/Intranet, self-service portals, web based applications, and email systems; participating in planning, designing, implementing, testing, and supporting new or modified automation systems; researching and reviewing new software and hardware; performing other duties as assigned.
 
 
TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to: 

• Performs complex technical and operational IT support work and systems administration and/or leads the work of others engaged in routine technical and operational IT support.
• Coordinates projects, personnel, and systems to facilitate access to the Library’s inter-networked computer systems.
• Inspects, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves network and related system, hardware, software, and peripheral malfunctions.

The City of Sausalito is seeking a dynamic and innovative team player for the position of Librarian II at the Sausalito Public Library. Under general direction from the City Librarian, the Librarian II will support all programs and/or functional areas in the City Library, including identifying current and projecting future community needs and providing leadership to initiatives to improve library services.

The responsibilities assigned to the Librarian II will be primarily oriented towards services to children and young adults, including providing direct support to children attending the schools of the Sausalito Marin City School District and their teachers.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting an undergraduate or graduate-level City Administration College Intern for the summer of 2024. This internship will provide a significant opportunity to gain experience and exposure and accumulate skills that are used daily in various city government programs that make substantial impacts to the community. These programs are in the areas of the City Clerks office, emergency management, economic development, public information and outreach, and other municipal administration programs and services.
 
The City Administration Intern will perform a variety of functions under the direction of the City Administrator and supervision of the Assistant to the City Administrator.

VOLUNTEER WORK SCHEDULE 
Internships can start as early as May 31, 2024 and end as late as September 30, 2024. 
 
This paid internship is offered at 15 - 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling. The selected Intern may request a schedule of their choice during standard work hours as described below. The office start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm.

PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: PAL Program Attendants work with Suisun City’s PAL Program and with area teenagers ages 13-19 to implement educational and recreational activities: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitions, contests, seminars, and special events, and provide general support to the program’s Recreation Supervisor. We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.
