PART TIME STATUS:
This is a part-time, at-will, non-benefited position. Work schedule is up to 40 hours per week during the summer season and is limited to 1,000 hours per year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include:
The San José Fire Department's (SJFD) core mission is to serve the community by protecting life, property, and the environment through prevention and response. SJFD is a high-volume, all-hazards fire department providing fire suppression and rescue services that protects approximately 200 square miles, Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support services as well as specialized operations including Urban Search and Rescue, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, and a Hazardous Material Unit with a Decontamination Unit.

Under general direction, performs a variety of professional analyses, surveys, and studies involving administrative, financial, personnel, and statistical data; performs administrative and analytical functions in support of City programs and services; and performs related work as required. This classification may be assigned to work in any City department, division, or specialized function.

The City of Sunnyvale invites applications for the Public Safety Officer - In Training. The position of Public Safety Officer-In Training is a non-sworn, training classification while incumbents are attending the police and fire academies. Upon successful completion of the police academy, incumbents will be promoted to the sworn, training position of Public Safety Officer I. Upon successful completion of all required training, incumbents will be promoted to the sworn position of Public Safety Officer II.
