The City of Sunnyvale is accepting applications for a Human Resources Analyst to work within the Risk Management Division of the Human Resources Department. This position is responsible assisting with the development, coordination and administration of the City's Workers' Compensation Program including facilitating claims investigations and serving as the liaison between the City, injured worker and third-party administrator in workers' compensation related issues.

The ideal candidate will be well organized, have attention to detail, manage multiple demands and changing priorities while maintaining the City’s core values of public service of integrity, leadership, and respect.  The candidate will be able to analyze complex administrative and technical issues and make appropriate recommendations for action; exercise initiative, ingenuity and sound judgment in solving problems and developing effective solutions, and work effectively with a customer service focus with department and City staff, and the public.

The minimum qualifications are: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in personnel administration, business, public administration, or a related field, AND two years of technical or professional level human resources experience.

The City of Sunnyvale provides an excellent benefits package, including 4% City-paid Employee PERS contribution and the 2% at 60 retirement plan for Classic employees.  The City has flexible work scheduling options including a 9/80 schedule and part time telework availability for employees after three months of employment.

The City of Santa Clara is recruiting for a Risk Manager who will be charged with developing and implementing a comprehensive and coordinated loss prevention and risk management program for the City and its associated entities. This Risk Manager will serve as a liaison and lead risk mitigation efforts for general government programs, the electric utility (Silicon Valley Power), Water and Sewer Utilities, and the Stadium Authority. The Risk Manager will provide input on a variety of matters ranging from claims management, to real estate development projects, to employee training programs.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced risk management professional with exceptional technical and interpersonal skills. The candidate will have experience in all areas of risk management including risk identification and analysis, prevention and transfer, loss control and prevention, the development of risk mitigation policies and training programs, and have demonstrated the ability to successfully lead cutting-edge, cross-departmental risk mitigation efforts for a public agency. The candidate's expert knowledge and adaptable approach will provide the needed foundation to manage effectively in a complex environment with varying lines of business and stakeholders. Park Ranger classifications are stewards of the park system, providing public safety services, protecting and preserving natural and cultural resources in parks, and inspiring future generations to love and nurture nature. Park Rangers are often first on scene for medical, fire and other emergencies in the parks they oversee. They teach and enforce park rules so everyone can enjoy their visit, always aiming to resolve situations with the lowest possible level of enforcement by leading with education.   

Park Ranger Duties:  Specifically, under general supervision, this classification performs duties of moderate difficulty including performing overall work in park operations and visitor services; resource and environmental protection; greeting visitors and explaining/interpreting park features; performing rescue and fire suppression activities; administering emergency medical care as needed; patrolling parks; enforcement of state and local laws; performing conservation programs and projects; providing lead direction to other park personnel; coordinating and leading volunteer and internship programs; providing traffic and parking control; and preparing written and oral reports and other communication.

Senior Park Ranger Duties:  Under direction, provides lead direction to staff engaged in park patrol, protection, and enforcement of park rules and regulations. Assists park visitors, prepares interpretive and educational programs, and may assist in the coordination of emergency response activities. Participates in the protection, improvement, and maintenance of parks, trails, and facilities, and in the organization of day-to-day operations of the work group. Performs related work e.g. staff planning and scheduling, managing supplies and materials, purchasing materials and equipment as required.

Actual salary will be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.  The Park Ranger classifications consist of a base amount and an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay as follows: 

·       Senior Park Ranger:  $92.776 - $113,087 (includes 5% non-pensionable compensation) annually

·       Park Ranger (FT):      $84,564 - 102.779  (includes 5% non-pensionable compensation) annually.

WORK SCHEDULES WILL FLUCTUATE TO MEET PARK OPERATIONAL NEEDS AND WILL INCLUDE WORK DURING LATE AFTERNOONS/EVENINGS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.
