This Internship is offered as part of a Regional Internship Partnership to introduce and encourage new graduates to local municipal governments. The Town of Los Altos Hills hopes that internships like this will serve as a platform to connect a diverse student population with agencies that recognize their value and provide important opportunities for applicants to bring fresh ideas while gaining valuable hands-on experience in the public sector.

The Town of Los Altos Hills has five rewarding, non-benefitted summer internships to begin June 10, 2024 through August 30, 2024.

Job Description: 

The intern’s workload will be a balance of assisting in daily municipal operations and special projects. Duties may include, but are not limited to proof reading, poster design, grassroots marketing, implementing events, organization of record management, benchmarking, photographing activities and research. The position will serve as a regular staff member and will receive assignments and work direction from the Community Services Supervisor. The primary goal of the internship program is to provide a college student or recent graduate an opportunity to apply their academic training in a municipal government setting. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in the daily operations of municipal government on all levels, thus enhancing the intern’s skills and résumé for a future profession in government.

Qualifications:

• Current Undergraduate College Student or Bachelor’s degree in Community Services/Recreation or related fields
• Knowledge of principles and practices of organization and recreation
• Interest in local government
• Strong oral & written communication skills
• High level of computer skills
• Effective interpersonal skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the public
• Applicable previous experience
• Self-motivated

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting an undergraduate or graduate-level City Administration College Intern for the summer of 2024. This internship will provide a significant opportunity to gain experience and exposure and accumulate skills that are used daily in various city government programs that make substantial impacts to the community. These programs are in the areas of the City Clerks office, emergency management, economic development, public information and outreach, and other municipal administration programs and services.
 
The City Administration Intern will perform a variety of functions under the direction of the City Administrator and supervision of the Assistant to the City Administrator.

VOLUNTEER WORK SCHEDULE 
Internships can start as early as May 31, 2024 and end as late as September 30, 2024. 
 
This paid internship is offered at 15 - 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling. The selected Intern may request a schedule of their choice during standard work hours as described below. The office start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm.

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The City of San José Housing Department is a leader in the development of affordable housing. Its mission is to strengthen and to revitalize our community through housing and neighborhood investment. The Housing Department provides loans for the development of affordable housing and manages a portfolio of over 17,000 housing units with a total value that exceeds $700 million. Over the next five years, the City Council has a goal of creating 25,000 housing units, 10,000 of which will be affordable. The Housing Department has an operating budget of approximately $19 million and 110 employees. The Housing Department is committed to creating and supporting a diverse work environment with a staff that values inclusion.

The Development Officer will be assigned to the Multifamily Project Development Program and will manage all phases of affordable housing lending. The position will oversee activities and programs within the Affordable Housing Production Division. The Development Officer reports to a Senior Development Officer. The Development Officer will be responsible for reviewing the structure of multi-family financing proposals for new construction and preservation of affordable housing. Tasks will include, but not be limited to: working with affordable housing developers and community groups to proactively manage affordable housing projects from the earliest stages through completion; underwriting loans for the production, rehabilitation and preservation of affordable rental housing with tax credit and/or tax-exempt bond financing, with a focus on determining feasibility and effect on the City's repayments, risks and policy objectives; reviewing financial statements and proformas for feasibility; managing support staff.

The ideal candidate for this position will be comfortable working in a diverse environment and have extensive experience at a management level in banking, lending or real estate development with a strong underwriting, loan servicing and regulatory compliance background. Central County Fire Department is looking for Firefighters!

The City of Redwood City invites applications for Contract Permit System Analyst in the Community Development and Transportation Department 

THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City is seeking a value-driven team player to fill the position of Permit System Analyst in the Community Development Department. This 2-year contract management analyst I/II position will work full-time (40 hours per week) and will report to the Community Development Director or designee.

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Managing the City’s “Community Development” permit system by CentralSquare, including its integration with other systems and applications, such as the City’s financial system (Oracle Fusion Cloud), and plan check software (Bluebeam).
• Providing end-user and content management of the permit system, implementing permit fee changes, workflow changes, and other system modifications.
• Leading the development of new or revised permit system processes and procedures, developing action plans, and leading staff on the testing and implementation of system improvements and modifications.
• Recommending process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy that must be approved by appropriate leadership prior to implementation.
• Providing technical support to permit system end-users and coordinating with the system vendor (CentralSquare) to report and resolve system bugs, and scheduling and implementing system upgrades in coordination with Information Technology staff.
• Creating and maintaining reports utilizing the permit system’s built-in report writer and running queries to analyze permit data and monitor the system’s data integrity.
• Providing staff with permit system training, creating detailed training manuals/guides, and documenting user procedures and workflow processes.
