The San Jose Fire Department is currently seeking to fill one ( 1 ) full-time Analyst I/II vacanc y in the Office of the Fire Chief (OFC).

Salary range ( s ) for this classification is/ are:
• Analyst I: $85,525.44 - $103,958.40
• Analyst II: $93,344.16 - $113,436.96

This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

T he Analyst I/II is an onsite position l ocated at Fire Administration in the Office of the Fire Chief (OFC) which reports directly to the Safety Program Manager. The OFC oversees and supports all organizational divisions including five distinct bureaus: Administrative Services, Support Services, Fire Prevention, Emergency Medical Services and Training, and Field Operations; and the Fire Communications Division. The Safety Program Manager oversees the Department's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Workers' Compensation, Health and Wellness and supports the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team.

The Analyst I/II position will primarily oversee the Workers' Compensation functions, acting as the liaison between injured employees, the Department, and the Workers' Compensation third-party administrator. In addition to Workers' Compensation, the Analyst I/ II is responsible fo r supporting other critical administrative functions as assigned.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Ensure Workers' Compensation claims are submitted within required timelines and act as the Department Liaison to the City's third-party Workers' Compensation administrator.
• Maintain contact with injured employees, ensure the Department has current, updated work statuses for each employee and update the Department's internal staffing tool to ensure employee work statuses are accurately reflected.
• Coordinate the return of employees to work in either a modified duty or regular duty capacity with all involved Department bureaus.
• Act as the Department Liaison with the City's Disability Retirement Committee and Human Resources Workers' Compensation Division, including attendance at monthly meetings.
• Maintain internal recordkeeping and spreadsheets for Supervisor's Accident Investigation Reports (SAIR), Annual Physicals, OSHA 300A Logs, Conversion Sheets for compliance of pay period hours, and Modified Duty and Disability statuses as well as manage personnel records and retention schedules.

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The City of San José Housing Department is a leader in the development of affordable housing. Its mission is to strengthen and to revitalize our community through housing and neighborhood investment. The Housing Department provides loans for the development of affordable housing and manages a portfolio of over 17,000 housing units with a total value that exceeds $700 million. Over the next five years, the City Council has a goal of creating 25,000 housing units, 10,000 of which will be affordable. The Housing Department has an operating budget of approximately $19 million and 110 employees. The Development Officer will be assigned to the Multifamily Project Development Program and will manage all phases of affordable housing lending. The position will oversee activities and programs within the Affordable Housing Production Division. The Development Officer reports to a Senior Development Officer. The Development Officer will be responsible for reviewing the structure of multi-family financing proposals for new construction and preservation of affordable housing. Tasks will include, but not be limited to: working with affordable housing developers and community groups to proactively manage affordable housing projects from the earliest stages through completion; underwriting loans for the production, rehabilitation and preservation of affordable rental housing with tax credit and/or tax-exempt bond financing, with a focus on determining feasibility and effect on the City's repayments, risks and policy objectives; reviewing financial statements and proformas for feasibility; managing support staff.

About the Position:  The Management Fellow will be focused on conducting researching and analyzing the impact Midpen has made during its 51 year history and creating a detailed report. This report will be based on the three legs of the mission: acquire and preserve a regional greenbelt of open space land in perpetuity, protect and restore the natural environment, and provide opportunities for ecologically sensitive public enjoyment and education.  The individual will be responsible for developing a similar report for Measure AA impact.  As such, coordination with Department Managers to develop specific and clear impacts, metrics and ultimately reports will be a key part of this role. The other focus of this position is to assist with the implementation of the recommendations from the 2023 Refresh of our Financial and Operational Sustainability Model (FOSM).  The FOSM was originally created in 2015 after the voter passage of Measure AA in 2014.  The FOSM was refreshed in 2023 (the report can be accessed here), and provides recommendations for sustained growth and certain policy and procedural improvements and enhancements related to project management and workforce development.  The Manager Fellow will assist the Chief Financial Officer with the implementation management of the 49 recommendations of the FOSM Refresh, as well as leading some of the implementations. The City of Redwood City invites applications for Contract Permit System Analyst in the Community Development and Transportation Department 

THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City is seeking a value-driven team player to fill the position of Permit System Analyst in the Community Development Department. This 2-year contract management analyst I/II position will work full-time (40 hours per week) and will report to the Community Development Director or designee.

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Managing the City’s “Community Development” permit system by CentralSquare, including its integration with other systems and applications, such as the City’s financial system (Oracle Fusion Cloud), and plan check software (Bluebeam).
• Providing end-user and content management of the permit system, implementing permit fee changes, workflow changes, and other system modifications.
• Leading the development of new or revised permit system processes and procedures, developing action plans, and leading staff on the testing and implementation of system improvements and modifications.
• Recommending process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy that must be approved by appropriate leadership prior to implementation.
• Providing technical support to permit system end-users and coordinating with the system vendor (CentralSquare) to report and resolve system bugs, and scheduling and implementing system upgrades in coordination with Information Technology staff.
• Creating and maintaining reports utilizing the permit system’s built-in report writer and running queries to analyze permit data and monitor the system’s data integrity.
• Providing staff with permit system training, creating detailed training manuals/guides, and documenting user procedures and workflow processes.

The Department 

Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is a not-for-profit electric municipal utility of Santa Clara, CA, serving residents and businesses for over 120 years. The Position 

Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is seeking a dynamic, engaging, and highly qualified professional for one (1) management position of Principal Electric Utility Engineer in our Utility Operations Division. 

 

The position in Utility Operations will be responsible for managing and performing work related to Protection Engineering, Communications Engineering, and Operations Support Engineering (Fault and Outage analysis) along with supporting operations, maintenance and regulatory compliance of electric utility transmission, distribution and generation facilities.  This position manages the team responsible for Communications Engineering, Protection Engineering and Operations Support Engineering.

• Confer with and assist in the development of long-range plans, goals and objectives, and budgets

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in electrical, mechanical, civil or other related field of engineering
• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in electric utility engineering work
• Candidates from a non-accredited college or university must demonstrate educational equivalency by registration as a professional electrical, mechanical or civil engineer in the State of California

Possible Substitutions:
 

• A Master's Degree in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering, or business or public administration from an accredited college may be substituted for one year of experience

REGISTRATION:
 

• Possession of a certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California is required

LICENSE(S):
 

• Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for duration of employment

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
 

• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment
• May be required to work unusual hours in emergency situations
• Required to pass initial and periodic comprehensive background checks, which may include fingerprinting, to meet Federal, State, and /or industry security requirements

  • Prepare speeches and talking points for the Mayor.
  • Coordinate arrangements for meetings, programs, or other civic functions on behalf of the Mayor.
  • Attend meetings and community events with the Mayor, requires occasional availability on evenings and weekends.
  • Gather background information relative to issues pending before the City Council
  • Analyze a wide variety of materials on assigned projects, programs, and topics.
  • Respond to constituent inquiries and issues, resolving complaints, and interpreting operating policies for residents of the community and other interested parties.
  • Attend and represent the Mayor at City-related meetings and activities, meeting with governmental agencies, private industry, and related meetings.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as required.
  • Conduct public meetings and events on behalf of the Mayor and/or prepare summaries of public and private meetings, reports, memoranda, and other documents for review by the Mayor.
  • Provide support in community engagement efforts with neighborhood, district or citywide business or community groups or associations and other interested parties regarding community concerns, issues, and priorities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Employees in this classification are not members of the classified civil service and appointment would be on a contract “at-will” basis and is for a specified period of time to be determined by the appointing Councilmember and does not extend past the end of the elected official's or appointing authority's term. Candidates must be willing to work evenings and weekends on occasion, and as exempt management employees, are not eligible for overtime compensation. This unclassified position requires a disclosure of outside investments, real property interest, income and business positions.
