The City of Sunnyvale’s Department of Public Works is recruiting for two Senior Maintenance Worker positions within the Street Operations division. One Senior Maintenance Worker position will be assigned to the pavement team responsible for maintenance, repair, sweeping and cleaning of City streets, curbs, gutters, and similar right-of-way infrastructure. One Senior Maintenance Worker position will be assigned to the traffic markings and signs team responsible for a variety of tasks involving installing and maintaining traffic signs, painting pavement markings and striping, and repairing concrete sidewalk for the city. This classification reports to a Public Works Supervisor and receives assignments related to the above-mentioned maintenance tasks.

The City of Sunnyvale is recruiting for one Senior Park Utility Worker: Tree Maintenance in the Department of Public Works.  This position will lead a small crew (2 to 4 person crew), where the incumbent performs the work duties assigned as well as directs and oversees the work of the crew members.

Hours: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Varying shifts are available including Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Under general supervision, individuals assigned to this classification assist the organization to develop and design reports, websites, social media collateral and other marketing and presentation materials. This classification focuses on the development of written and graphic representation for division or department materials. Individuals in this classification are primarily focused on enhancing the Division’s social media presence, developing all written material, performing administrative tasks, attending fairs and events to promote Recreation Services programs; and perform/ related work as required.

This position is characterized by developing new and innovative marketing collateral with limited structure or routine work. Work assignments are performed in collaboration with various divisions and levels of staff, independently, with responsibility for following through on development. Contacts are regularly made both internally and externally at all levels of the organization involving tact, discretion, good listening and customer service skills. The position requires creative ability, knowledge of how to generate graphics using The Adobe Suite, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, Word and Excel and the ability to exercise a reasonable degree of independent judgment. This classification assists with development and implementation of standards for consistency in materials, written and posted on the internet. Additionally, the position requires good written communication skills, public relations, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and abilities. The Marketing Associate receives direction from program supervisors and management staff.

• Design and produce effective collateral for digital and print to promote programs, events and services
• Design and produce graphics materials using computer-based and traditional methods to meet organizational standards and deadlines

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is required to work on the Community Center campus and may not work from home. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination when using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, push and pull files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required. The Division Manager will report directly to the Deputy Director of Public Works and will manage a growing team of 13 skilled engineers, architects, and analysts. The successful candidate will be a registered professional engineer and/or architect.

T he Division Manager is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating operational and administrative service functions within the Division , oversee ing total project management, from forecasting, planning, design, engineering, bidding, and construction management through to ribbon cuttings. They assist executive and senior management in formulating and implementing department policies and procedures. They are experienced in delivering capital projects from start to finish, are fast learners, nimble, diplomatic, and have demonstrated capability in working with multiple stakeholders.

An in-depth knowledge of employing airport industry standard specifications, municipal codes, and engineering principles is desired. Identifying opportunities to streamline the project planning, design, and management processes will be a mark of their success. The Division Manager will need to balance the demands of quality, speed, and cost with regard to the development and rapid implementation of the Airport's Capital Improvement Program.

The Division Manager position performs work of considerable difficulty including:

• Hiring and retaining staff to assist on-time delivery of projects that meet budget.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Electrical Supervisor in the Public Works Department! The City of Newark is seeking an experienced Aquatics Programs Specialist who is well versed with the development and effective implementation of aquatic programs tailored to different age groups and skill levels, such as swimming lessons, water aerobics, lifeguard training, and more. The Specialist will work out of the George M Silliman Community Activity Center. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Review the existing swim lesson program provided at the Aquatic Center, utilizing the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program materials, with the aim of pinpointing areas that could be enhanced.
2. Evaluate the current swim instructor handbook and offer recommendations that align with program requirements; integrating relevant materials from the American Red Cross Swim Lesson Program and feedback from staff to create a more cohesive handbook for swim instructors.
3. Assess the current swim instructor in-service practices and propose a recommended training plan and schedule for management and staff. This includes organizing 2-5 in-service sessions with staff to review new information and establish a structured training plan.                                                                                  

• Evaluate Current Practices: Conduct an analysis of the existing swim instructor in-service practices, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
• Needs Assessment: Determine the specific needs of the swim instructors and the program as a whole. Consider instructor feedback, observations, and any deficiencies noted in performance evaluations.
• Training Objectives: Define clear training objectives that align with the goals of the swim lesson program and the organization's standards. These objectives should address areas such as instructional techniques, safety protocols, emergency procedures, and customer service skills.
• Curriculum Development: Develop a comprehensive curriculum for the in-service training sessions. Incorporate relevant materials from the American Red Cross Swim Lesson Program, focusing on best practices for instruction and program management.
• Training Plan and Schedule: Create a detailed training plan and recommended schedule that outlines the topics to be covered in each session. Ensure that the schedule accommodates the availability of staff and allows for adequate time to cover each topic thoroughly.

• Resource Materials: Compile a set of resource materials to support the training sessions, including instructional guides, lesson plans, videos, and reference materials from the American Red Cross Swim Lesson Program.
• Feedback Mechanism: Establish a feedback mechanism to gather input from staff following each training session. Use this feedback to assess the effectiveness of the training and make any necessary adjustments to future sessions.
• Implementation and Monitoring: Implement the training plan according to the established schedule, ensuring that all staff members have the opportunity to participate. Work with staff to ensure they are monitoring staff performance and progress throughout the training process, providing additional support and guidance as needed.
• Evaluation and Continuous Improvement: Conduct a final evaluation of the training program to assess its overall effectiveness and impact on staff performance.      4. Collaborate with program staff to facilitate the implementation of the DigiQuatics software, specifically  focusing on the swim lesson program module to ensure its success and staff training opportunities.

    5. Support staff in addressing any needs within the swim lesson program to enhance its effectiveness and boost participant enrollment as required.

Assistant Planner - This is the entry-level class within the professional Planner series. This class is distinguished from the journey level by the performance of more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees have only limited or no directly related professional planning work experience. Employees work under general supervision while learning job tasks.


Incumbents may advance from the Assistant Planner to the Associate Planner level based on a recommendation by their supervisor and approval from the Director of Development Services or designee. Review and analyze development proposals and work with developers, the public and other agencies regarding various land use permits, general plan amendments, and zone changes.

Provide information to the public, developers, public officials and staff members about land use matters to clarify and assure conformance to city and state policies and regulations regarding zoning and other development controls, acceptable development proposals, compatibility with adopted plans and environmental impacts.

Make presentations to the Planning Commission, City Council, and other interested parties regarding land use applications, general plan amendments, zoning changes, code amendments, and special studies.
