The City of Sunnyvale’s Department of Public Works is recruiting for two Senior Maintenance Worker positions within the Street Operations division. One Senior Maintenance Worker position will be assigned to the pavement team responsible for maintenance, repair, sweeping and cleaning of City streets, curbs, gutters, and similar right-of-way infrastructure. One Senior Maintenance Worker position will be assigned to the traffic markings and signs team responsible for a variety of tasks involving installing and maintaining traffic signs, painting pavement markings and striping, and repairing concrete sidewalk for the city. This classification reports to a Public Works Supervisor and receives assignments related to the above-mentioned maintenance tasks.

We are seeking a Senior Information Systems Analyst to join Valley Water’s Information Technologies team. The Sr. Information Systems Analyst is responsible for advanced networking and server virtualization in both our Corporate and Scada (Industrial) networks. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform research into new highly complex technologies to increase the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness including POCs of these technologies.
• Act as project manager and technical lead for in the design, development, and maintenance of the most complex Valley Water applications.
• Confer with end user and define application requirements; recommend and develop solutions; conduct cost/benefit analyses; prepare justification for new or enhanced modifications; ensure that recommendations comply with Valley Water standards and conventions; Research and evaluate systems for technical fit and fit for purpose and fit for use for the business.
• Develop written technical documentation, internal operating procedures, and user manuals and instructions; develop instructional materials and conduct training programs on new or enhanced applications; update technical and training manuals as required.

They design, fabricate, and install electrical systems and components and install wiring and electrical equipment, ensuring code compliance. Electricians review work orders, maintain activity logs, prepare requisitions and obtain approval for various projects. Duties may also include purchasing electrical supplies, including filling out paperwork; coordinating purchases; and, choosing vendors. They are responsible for responding to occasional emergencies, evaluating and taking required actions and determining if support is needed.

Mineta San Jose International Airport
Airport electricians are responsible for a wide range of equipment and systems in a 24/7/365 operation, including repair, installation, operation, and maintenance. Responsibilities may include airfield/airport specific systems and equipment such as series lighting circuits, constant current regulators, airfield lighting control systems, and airfield lights. In addition, responsibilities may include interior and exterior lighting fixtures (including high mast ramp lighting, street lighting, parking lot lighting, etc.), lighting control systems, building management systems, access control systems, fire alarm systems, power management systems, building distribution systems and equipment up to 12kv, motor control equipment, baggage handling systems, emergency generators, vehicle gate operators, pump stations and fiber optics. Shift schedules are based upon the needs and requirements of the Airport and may require rotation assignments or assignment to a specific shift. Weekend and holiday work may be required, and standby time may be required.

Public Works Department
Public Works electrician duties include: new construction, remodels, small tenant improvement projects, lighting retrofit projects, maintenance of pump stations (includes motor controls and PLC's and computerized alarm and monitoring of pumps, etc.), emergency generators, fire alarm systems, vehicle gate operators, badge access controls, lighting control systems, electrical building distribution systems and equipment up to and including 12kv, installing cat 5 and fiber optic networks and maintenance of all City buildings. They also set up temporary power for numerous special events on weekends and public address setups. PW provides standby Electricians 24/7. Depending upon assignment, Swing Shift, Graveyard Shift, weekend, and holiday work may be required.

Department of Transportation
Department of Transportation electricians are responsible for the ongoing maintenance and improvements of San Jose's streetlight and traffic signal systems. Responsibilities may include installation and maintenance of fiber optic cable, speed radar signs, video detection, traffic monitoring cameras, and 'smart' LED streetlights.

The Office of Retirement Services (ORS) oversees the investment of assets and administers the benefits of the two Defined Benefit Retirement Plans for the City of San Jose Employees. One plan is for the sworn police and fire employees called the Police and Fire Department Retirement Plan. The other plan is for all other eligible City employees called Federated City Employees' Retirement System. The assets of the two plans total over $8.0 billion. As of June 30, 2023, there were close to 7,200 retirees and beneficiaries, and close to 5,750 active employees in the two retirement plans. Each of the retirement plans has a Board of Administration that has fiduciary responsibility over their respective retirement plan. The ORS staff has accountability to them as well as City Administration. Retirement Services is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Analyst position in the Benefits Division. The position will be responsible for the administration of retirement benefits for active and retired members of two retirement plans and ten retirement tiers.

POSITION

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Experience: 
Five (5) years of experience in performing high-level and complex administrative and analytical work, including two (2) years supervisory experience, preferable in a public agency.  Experience in a City Clerk's office is desirable.

Licenses and Certificates: 

Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver's license.  Must be able to obtain and maintain a Notary Commission within twelve (12) months of employment.  Ability to obtain certification as a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) within three (3) years, if not already obtained.  Possession of Certified Municipal Clerk designation upon hire is highly desirable.

Bilingual: 
Knowledge of a second language is beneficial.

This position performs a variety of professional administrative and confidential support functions for the Assistant General Manager and his/her staff. Maintains strict confidentiality, exercises good judgment, and a high degree of professionalism when acting as an ambassador or liaison to staff, members, other agencies, or the public. Under general supervision, incumbents regularly perform a variety of duties requiring adaptation to various situations, judgment as to which learned work method to apply for the desired result, and the ability to communicate effectively. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position requires the incumbent reports for work on time and maintains satisfactory attendance in accordance with Agency policies; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives to meetings and appointments on time; Performs special assignments for the Assistant General Manager or others as assigned. Communicate effectively with internal and external partners.

Prepare payment authorizations and payment schedules for department contracts, and facilitate timely and accurate payments as they come due.

Work with respective Legal team members on contract management workflows and best practices to increase operational efficiency.

Maintain flexibility and openness to take on additional projects as necessary or assigned.

Reads and routes incoming mail. Locates and attaches appropriate file to correspondence to be answered by manager.

Composes, formats, edits, and types routine correspondence, reports, agendas, minutes, presentations, etc. 

Answers and screens manager's/staff's telephone calls as needed and arranges conference calls.

Coordinates manager's schedule/calendar and makes appointments. Greets scheduled visitors and conducts to appropriate area or person. Arrange and coordinate travel schedules and reservations as needed.

Coordinates and arranges meetings, prepares agendas, reserves and prepares facilities, and records and transcribes minutes of meetings.

Organizes and maintains file system and files correspondence and other records.

Conducts research and compiles and types statistical reports.

Administers committee meetings in accordance with Ralph M. Brown Act requirements.

Makes copies of correspondence or other printed materials.

Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes.

Within budget, orders and maintains supplies and arranges for equipment maintenance.

Provides support or backup to the Receptionist, other Administrative Assistants, and Executive Assistant as needed. Participates in Administrative Assistants meetings. 

Assists in coordinating the monthly Agenda Packet materials for the Commission.

Maintains the business unit SharePoint workspace and associated systems, including business web page.

Develops, maintains, and administers a regulatory tracking system to support agency regulatory requirements.

Develops, prepares, and administers Agency contracts and agreements, including the development of contract templates, tracking of contract records in the Agency records-keeping system, and processing various contractual requirements.

Assist with the development and preparation of Agency staff reports and resolutions, including supporting documents.

Provide support for Agency contract administration functions, including tracking, storage, review, and validation of agency contracts and agreements.

May prepare or review expense reports, check requests, and purchase requisitions.

May perform other duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and a minimum of three years related administrative experience supporting a high-level manager and his/her staff; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES 
Knowledge:
Knowledge of modern office methods, supplies and equipment; business English and correspondence, principles of effective training; Ability to work effectively and collaborate cross-functionally with multiple internal groups; Strong organizational and time-management skills; Fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database activities, SharePoint, etc. 

Abilities:
Ability to perform clerical work, including ability to spell correctly, make arithmetical computations; operate various office machines; Strong attention to detail and experience dealing with outside vendors and contract administration; Ability to follow oral and written directions; Evaluate situations accurately and take effective action; read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; Ability to type 55 wpm with speed and accuracy and ability to organize time wisely and work independently with minimal supervision; Apply specific laws, rules and office policies and procedures; Prepare correspondence independently, utilizing a wide knowledge of vocabulary; grammar, and spelling; communicate effectively; and provide functional guidance; Ability to use a high level of independent judgment, organization and coordination skills in order to handle multiple assignments.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Valid California Driver's License and insurance as occasional travel may be required. Occasional overtime may be required. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
