The Dixon Fire Department is opening their first Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit position for someone to attend the Fire Academy in August 2024. The "Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit" is an entry-level classification designed for recruits with a current paramedic license to gain firefighting, fire rescue, and fire prevention skills and training necessary through an accredited Fire Academy. Training may include firefighting techniques and procedures; emergency medical training; technical rescue and hazardous materials training.
The Dixon Fire Department is looking to fill a full-time vacancy for a Fire Captain and to establish an eligibility list for any future vacancies. This position coordinates and directs advanced firefighting activities, emergency medical aids, emergency rescue and other emergency and prevention activities, in protecting life and property; oversees subordinate personnel engaged in training, station and equipment maintenance; assists and participates in training programs; drives, operates and maintains all fire apparatus and equipment. Performs related work and other duties as required.

ENTRY & LATERAL FIREFIGHTER PARAMEDIC
THE POSITION
Under general direction, responds to fires, emergency medical, and other calls and takes appropriate action in the protection of life and property; maintains equipment and stations; may lead, mentor, and review the work of other department members; performs various support assignments in addition to normal emergency response activities, and performs related other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL PAY INCENTIVES:
- Paramedic Pay: 5% Incentive Pay. Plus, the EMT/Paramedic Pay Pilot Program that runs through 6/30/2025 provides Paramedics with an additional 5% incentive pay.
- Longevity Pay: 3% after 5 continuous years of service; 3% after 10 continuous years of service (total of 6%)
- Holiday Pay: 2% per pay period in lieu of observing time off for legal holidays.
