DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the Teen Coordinator, provide leadership and supervision of teens             as a positive role model in their afterschool program. Must have the ability to plan and implement daily tasks and develop curriculum. Program hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3-6pm, Wednesdays from 2-6pm and Fridays from 3-5pm. Teen Director is required to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events. Approximately 15 hours per week with the potential for more hours.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

• Applicants must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to engage with teens ages 1014.
• Minimum of two years' experience in childcare, educational or childhood development OR a degree in Education or Recreation.
• Plan, organize and execute one themed activity daily Mondays through Thursday.
• Possess strong leadership in one or more of the following areas: arts and crafts, sports, music, special events, multimedia.
• Maintain structure and discipline while encouraging teens to participate and enjoy the program.
• Train, supervise and delegate tasks to other staff members.
• Perform daily responsibilities and maintain a clean, safe environment.

• Enforce rules and policies of the Teen Zone Program as well as those of the Community Center and Recreation Department.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Teen Zone Director will lead Teen Zone, a daily drop-in program for local middle school students. While on duty, Teen Director may be responsible for check-in and check-out of participants, oversee an in-house snack bar, and facilitate set-up of the Teen Zone game room (including setting up video games, ping pong table, quiet homework spaces, and more). Light cleaning duties will be expected.

CERTIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a current CPR/AED and First Aid certificate and be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency or be willing to obtain one within the first six weeks of hire.

POSITION

To perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current temporary/part-time vacancy in our Community Services Department and to create a list for future vacancies.

Candidates who do not currently meet the minimum qualifications for the Facilities Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for an Intern position instead.

Temporary employees work no more than 130 hours per month and 960 hours per fiscal year.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for this position will have previous facility maintenance experience, although not required. The Ideal Candidate will be able to follow directions, demonstrate good communication skills (orally and in writing), be flexible, have good attendance, a positive attitude and a willingness to take on new tasks as requested.  The ability to speak and understand Spanish is a desirable quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

A primary function of this position is janitorial services. Will include set up and cleanup of special events. Prepare simple activity and related reports; maintain inventory and work records as required. Perform other facility maintenance duties as assigned. Work cooperatively with others. Regular and consistent attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Facility Maintenance Worker I

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Six (6) months of work experience in carpentry, electrical and maintenance work is desirable.

$21.12 - $26.96 per hour

Intern:                                                            
$16.50 - $20.50 per hour

WORK HOURS
Position works approximately 16-20 hours per week in the afternoons and evenings, and will require some weekend hours.

To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the removal of blight from City property.  Positions allocated to this class are expected to perform skilled and complex maintenance including litter, weed, and debris removal duties and to work with third party contractors.

The purpose of the recruitment is to fill a current vacancy at the Woodland Police Department, Homeless Outreach Street Team, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for this position will have strong communication and customer service skills and possess the ability to mediate or de-escalate conflict. Candidates should possess an awareness of their surroundings and roadway dangers. They should be willing to work in a variety of conditions exposing them to inclement weather, as well as vehicle traffic. The ability to prioritize work and maintain deadlines would be ideal. Candidates should possess the ability to foster good working relationships with local business owners and other agencies and be able to work in a fast-paced environment where task completion is paramount.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Work to complete required duties for the City’s Blight Abatement Team such as removal of graffiti, removal of abandoned camps, litter clean-up, power washing, removal and clean-up of bio-hazards and human waste, removal of fallen leaves and minor landscaping clean-up, as well as assist in the execution and implementation of special events that take place within the City limits.
• Work in cooperation with staff from other City departments. 
• Fulfill the tasks assigned to them with attention to detail, speed, and a customer service-oriented attitude.
• Be self-directed in completing tasks and determining the next priority of work. 
• Comply with policies and procedures of the Department’s Illness and Injury Prevention Program.
• Utilize proper safety precautions and set a positive example for others.

• Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance at City Hall or Police Department is an essential function of the position, in that the employee must be present at work to complete assigned tasks.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Provide general information to the public, other City departments, and vendors pertaining to area of assignment. Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment.  

The work environment is located primarily outdoors and consists of completing tasks involving litter, weed, debris and graffiti removal, painting and biohazard abatement. Additional tasks include cleaning of walkways, street gutters, alleyways, and landscape areas. Conditions range from working outside in all types of weather conditions. Some work will involve hazardous and unsanitary conditions. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without regular direct supervision. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

Meet stand-by program requirements and serve in a stand-by status after regular working hours and respond to emergency call-outs.  Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, scheduling of work, and employee evaluations.   Requisition of materials and supplies for assigned facilities and projects.   Instruct subordinates in proper work techniques, use of equipment and safety practices and requirements. Work cooperatively with others.  Drive vehicles and equipment as required.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.  

Experience:

One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Maintenance

Worker I.

Bilingual:  Knowledge of a second language is beneficial.

License and Certificate:

Required upon hire, possession of valid Class C California Driver's License.

Forklift Certification, First Aid and CPR certifications, is required prior to permanent appointment.

Possession of a valid Class B or Class A California Driver's License is a plus.

Community Enhancement Specialist
$4,804.06 - $6,131.34 /month
$2,217.26 - $2,829.85 /bi-weekly

Future salary growth includes 4% increase effective July 2024, a 1% increase effective January 2025, a 4% increase in July 2025 and a 1% increase effective January 2026.

The City of San Rafael Library & Recreation Department, Child Care Division, is accepting applications for Child Care Instructor II to work in our School-Age Programs at Mary Silveira and Vallecito Children’s Centers.  Under the supervision of the Child Care Director, the Child Care Instructor II will provide developmental care and supervision to children enrolled in the childcare program; implement age-appropriate curriculum for children; establish and maintain supportive relationships with children and parents.  Incumbents in this position assume primary responsibility for planning, scheduling, and organizing curriculum and other activities for childcare participants.  In the absence of the Child Care Director, the Child Care Instructor II may assume those duties.

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):      

• Plan, implement and supervise enrichment and recreation-based programs.
• Develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities to stimulate children’s cognitive skills, abilities, and development.
• Evaluate needs of children, staff, and site to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.
• Maintain accurate attendance and enrollment records; maintain appropriate confidential records.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of subordinate childcare staff.
• Monitor and order classroom supplies and materials as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

• Completion of twelve (12) units of Early Childhood Education. 
• One year (12 months) experience working with children in a group setting.

• Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance
• Prefer possession of a valid California Driver’s License

• Supervise and coordinate the work of subordinate childcare staff.
• Monitor and order classroom supplies and materials as needed.
