The City of Yuba City is currently recruiting for the position of Firefighter I. Fire personnel may be assigned to any of the five (5) Fire Stations located throughout Yuba City. Firefighters engage in firefighting and fire prevention activities in protecting life and property; operate and maintain fire apparatus, rescue vehicles, and firefighting equipment and perform other related work as required. Employees work rotating, 24 hour shifts, including holidays and weekends as part of the schedule. Employees may be required to respond to emergency call backs.
The City of Yuba City is currently recruiting for one (1) full-time Fire Safety Inspector I/II. Under direct supervision of the Fire Marshal, Fire Safety Inspectors inspect fire protection systems, new construction sites, industrial and commercial occupancies and institutional and public assemblage occupancies to insure a practical level of fire and life safety exists in compliance with applicable state and local regulations and preforms related work. The Fire Safety Inspector typically works a 40 hour scheduled work week, but may also be assigned as an on call Fire Investigator as needed.
Under the general direction of a Shift Captain, a Resident Volunteer Firefighter may be required to effectively perform duties involving the protection of life and property from fire and other emergencies, while assigned to an engine; maintain station, inspect, test and maintain equipment and fire apparatus; conduct training during shifts, maintain reports, and other duties as specified by the Shift Captain.
