Village Park Preschool is a play-based preschool program offered by the City of Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department. We offer 4 programs: Lil’ Sprouts (2 year olds), Cottage Kids (3 year olds), Playschool Villagers (4 year olds), and Kinder Club (4 year olds).  The emphasis of the program is physical, social, and emotional growth in a child-centered environment. Activities are designed to foster a healthy child that develops an early love of learning. Village Park Preschool programs strive to create an environment inspiring each child’s individual creativity and self-expression. Children participate in arts/crafts, music, body movement, basic science, cognitive games, creative/dramatic play, cooking, circle and story time, fine and gross motor skill building, and phonics awareness.

Definition: Preschool Teacher

The City of Burlingame is looking for an energetic, caring, creative, and responsible Preschool Teacher. Under direction of a Recreation Coordinator, the Preschool Teacher plans, schedules, and organizes preschool classes for the City’s Village Park Preschool program, assures policies and procedures are maintained, and performs related work as required.

Essential Duties

• Plan, organize, and implement activities that support early childhood education and socialization;
• Lead a variety of activities including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, organized games, story time, music/singing activities, science, cooking, early writing skills, and interactive circle time;
• Ensure proper safety precautions are observed;
• Maintain and care for supplies, equipment, and the facility;
• Report any supply requests and facility maintenance needs;
• Set up daily snack, change diapers and support toilet training;
• Help with preparation of monthly newsletter;
• Complete assigned paperwork, including time cards and incident and accident reports;
• Communicate regularly with parents and staff to disseminate information and build positive relationships;
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Must be a mature, dependable, responsible, and understanding person who is able to work cooperatively with children, staff and parents.   

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• Knowledge of early childhood education principles, curriculum development, and best practices.
• Completion of 24 units of Early Childhood Education.
• Teaching certification or license for early childhood education (preferred).

Under the direction of a Recreation Supervisor, the Preschool Aide supports the lead teacher in providing a nurturing and educational environment for young children. The City Manager is the administrative head of the government of the City. Under the direction and control of the City Council, the City Manager is responsible for ensuring that the policy directions set forth by the City Council are carried out and the day-to-day operations of the City government run smoothly.

Some of the duties of the City Manager include:

THE DEPARTMENT

The Community Development department is responsible for ensuring a sustainable and vibrant community that supports a high quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors. It includes the Building, Planning and Housing divisions, and core services include building permits, plan check, inspections, affordable housing administration and housing initiatives, as well as long-range planning and development review. The Building Division is responsible for managing the building permit, plan check and inspection processes for compliance with all applicable State laws, local municipal codes and related policies involving building construction, which requires a high level of customer service with the public and coordination within and across departments and agencies.

THE POSITION

The Building Official oversees the development of programs, projects, operations, and services of the Building Division, and is a part of the Community Development management team. This position will manage a 13-member team, including a Permit Manager, Building Permit Technicians, Plan Check Engineer, and Building Inspectors, and will receive general direction from the Assistant Community Development Director or the Community Development Director. Successful performance in this role requires professional and technical skills in the core functional areas of permitting, plan checking and building inspections, as well as knowledge of public policy and municipal services, and excellence in communication and leadership. The individual must be able to assess the current needs of the department and look for innovative ways to help the department advance to improve service delivery and meet the changing needs of the community. This will require guiding modifications to the City’s land management permitting system (Accela) to improve processes, enhance customer service and monitor data.

With the adoption of the General Plan Update in 2016 and, most recently, the Housing Element zoning-related changes, the City is expected to see physical change as plans come to fruition. A key priority for this position will be overseeing the building permit process for a diverse range of projects from tenant improvements to new single-family residential construction to hotels to large-scale, comprehensive planned mixed-use campuses. Currently, the City has approximately 775 residential units and 260,000 square feet of life science uses under construction, with over 2,000 residential units, two hotels and more than 1.8 million square feet of commercial square footage approved, but not yet under construction, along with a number of large development projects currently under review. The Town of Colma Recreation Services Department is currently accepting applications for Recreation Leaders for Summer 2024.  The Recreation Department provides programs and activities for Colma residents of all ages ranging from infants to seniors. Job Description:  

The City Manager’s Office has a full-time, 40 hours per week, non-benefited summer internship opportunity. The main function of the job is to perform municipal research and analytical work on an entry level professional basis.

The workload will be a balance of assisting in daily municipal operations and special projects. Duties may include, but are not limited to town-wide capital inventory, risk management, citizens’ requests, record management, benchmarking, policy analysis and research, and govern a technology assessment. The position will serve as a regular staff member, and will receive assignments and work direction from the Management Analyst and City Manager. The primary goal of the internship program is to provide a recent graduate an opportunity to apply their academic training in a municipal government setting. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in the daily operations of municipal government on all levels, thus enhancing the intern’s skills and résumé for a future profession in government.

THE JOB

Responsible for the safety, supervision, discipline, and customer service of all persons using the City of Live Oak Pool facilities.  Generally, works under direct supervision of the Lifeguard Supervisor or Parks and Recreation Director.  Must be willing to work other than normal work hours and be available to work as scheduled based upon the need of the department.  Must be able to attend Pre-season training, and successfully pass a lifeguard skills review.  Must be 15 years of age or older, and wear Department of Recreation staff swimwear.  Employee may be asked to provide assistance and/or accommodations to include participants with disabilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

For Lifeguards and Instructors: Possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate (LGT) AND a valid CPR Certificate AND First Aid for Public Safety Personnel, California Title 22. THE POSITION:  The City of San Mateo’s Community Development Department has an opportunity for an intern to work on a number of projects. SALARY AND HOURS:

$17.06 – $17.91– $18.80 – $19.75 - $20.72 per hour.  This is a part-time position, paid sick leave benefit available. Initial appointments are generally made at the first step of this five step scale.  Hours will range from 15-25 hours per week.  Candidates that make the eligibility list may be selected for shifts as needed throughout the year.  Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the entire year.
