The City of San Mateo Public Works Department is looking for a qualified Deputy Director of Public Works.

The Environmental Services Section consists of four main Divisions, including Clean Water Program, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Field Maintenance and Data Management. The Engineering Services Section consists of four main Divisions, including Engineering (including Capital Improvement), Fleet Services and Facilities (including facility maintenance and capital improvements), Regulatory Compliance, and Transportation (including Traffic Engineering, Right-of-Way /Private Development, and Transportation Planning).

The current vacancy oversees the Engineering Services Division. Depending on your skillset and experience the City could place you in either of these sections or adjust the divisional oversight responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

The Deputy Director of Public Works is responsible for directing and managing all programs within the Section for which they are responsible, includes capital improvement program development and implementation, traffic engineering, private development review, asset management, construction management, fleet coordination, downtown coordination and building maintenance; and the position may serve as the City Engineer.

• Utilize your experience and skills to lead a number of divisions within the Public Works Department.

• Engage in a positive manner with City Council, PW Department staff, City Departments and citizens.

• Lead and mentor a dedicated and talented staff featuring many emerging leaders.

• Analyze current processes and procedures to make system improvements for efficiencies, updating of standards, and

  improvements to the customer experience.

• Collaborating with other agencies and stakeholders to plan regional solutions on shared items of interest such as traffic

  and the City’s General Plan Update.

• Contribute to a collaborative and dynamic Public Works Leadership team.

  The Deputy Director receives general direction from the Director of Public Works and exercises direct supervision over management, supervisory, professional, technical, and administrative support staff.

THE POSITION: The San Mateo Public Library is seeking energetic individuals to provide a wide variety of library support work. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Assisting at the Accounts Desk; checking out and checking in of library materials; registering patrons for library cards; financial transactions at the Accounts Desk; promoting library services and providing consistent, excellent customer service. This recruitment is for two 19-hour Per Diem Library Assistant I positions that support Circulation services at each of the three San Mateo Public Library locations. An eligibility list will be created for future openings in this classification.  This recruitment will also be used to fill several on-call Library Assistant positions*.

SALARY AND HOURS:  $27.11 per hour (Step 1). Below are the starting schedules for the Per Diem Library Assistant I positions that may be changed in the future to meet the operational needs of the Library. These positions are currently scheduled at all three San Mateo Public Library locations, Main, Marina, and Hillsdale branches.  Availability at all three San Mateo Public Library branches is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by clerical and specialized college level courses in library science; or, one year of experience performing general clerical or related work in a public library system; bilingual skills desirable but not required; strong customer service skills are required.

ABILITY TO: Work with a minimum of supervision, follow written and oral instructions; work cooperatively in a team environment.

ADA SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving library materials; push, lift, and/or pull 40 pounds; sit; stand; walk; kneel; stoop; squat; reach; twist; exposure to chemicals and dust.

This is a part-time, at-will, non-benefited position. Hours are limited to less than 1,000 hours per year.

This position performs legal work in the enforcement of laws; prosecutes criminal cases as assigned by the District Attorney; advises the general public and law enforcement officers on criminal matters; and does related work as required. The position is at-will, temporary, part-time and scheduled for twenty-four (24) hours per week.

• Reviews and prepares asset forfeiture cases.
• Researches and reviews laws as they impact cases pending.
• Meets and negotiates with defense attorneys on cases as needed.
• Prepares briefs and legal opinions; appears in court to prosecute cases; participates in preliminary hearings.
• Orders investigations and subpoenas; reviews search warrants; supervises and assists with case investigations.

Village Park Preschool Program

Village Park Preschool is a play-based preschool program offered by the City of Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department. We offer 4 programs: Lil’ Sprouts (2 year olds), Cottage Kids (3 year olds), Playschool Villagers (4 year olds), and Kinder Club (4 year olds).  The emphasis of the program is physical, social, and emotional growth in a child-centered environment. Activities are designed to foster a healthy child that develops an early love of learning. • Plan, organize, and implement activities that support early childhood education and socialization;
• Lead a variety of activities including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, organized games, story time, music/singing activities, science, cooking, early writing skills, and interactive circle time;
• Ensure proper safety precautions are observed;
• Maintain and care for supplies, equipment, and the facility;
• Report any supply requests and facility maintenance needs;
• Set up daily snack, change diapers and support toilet training;
• Help with preparation of monthly newsletter;
• Complete assigned paperwork, including time cards and incident and accident reports;
• Communicate regularly with parents and staff to disseminate information and build positive relationships;
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge of:

• Knowledge of early childhood education principles, curriculum development, and best practices.
• Completion of 24 units of Early Childhood Education.

Glenn County is recruiting individuals to fill three full time and multiple Part Time/ Extra Help positions in the Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and  repair activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker III position is the journey-level class in the series, and is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker II by the primary responsibility to operate heavy diesel and gasoline-powered construction equipment in the maintenance of roadways, drainage systems.

• Prepares roads for patch repairs, overlays, or chip seals; prepares mix for patching roads; repairs and reconstructs roads.

The City of Belmont Human Resources Department is seeking a collaborative, innovative, enthusiastic individual with great interpersonal skills to join the Human Resources team as a Human Resources Management Analyst.  The candidate may be hired at the Management Analyst I or II level depending on experience.

Salary:  Management Analyst I - $8,022.41 - $10,238.87 per month

              Management Analyst II - $8,737.78 - $11,151.85 per month

The Human Resources Management Analyst will serve as a business partner to departments for a variety of Human Resources programs and projects including recruitment, job analysis, training and development and benefit administration.

This position researches and analyzes human resources practices and procedures and makes recommendations for organizational, operational, policy, and procedural improvements; conducts needs analyses, feasibility studies, and evaluations for assigned projects and programs; provides consulting services to City management and staff regarding all aspects of human resources programs and activities; fosters cooperative working relationships among City departments; and performs related duties as assigned.

Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible human resources experience, preferably in local government or comparable agency

Education

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with course work in public administration, human resources and or closely related field.
