ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting for enthusiastic and energetic Office Assistant I to support our newly established Utilities Department. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of something groundbreaking for our agency and for the Gilroy community. As an Office Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations and be the backbone for all administrative efforts and providing stellar support for the team. ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting for a full-time Environmental Programs Manager in our Public Works Department. In this exciting opportunity the Environmental Programs Manager (EPM) will be at the forefront of shaping and implementing environmental initiatives that have a lasting impact on our community.  The EPM will work under the supervision of the Public Works Director and will oversee a comprehensive environmental protection program and ensure compliance in the areas of solid waste, waste reduction, recycling, green waste, municipal stormwater system, and energy and natural resources conservation. About the Position:  This position requires the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.

The Accounting Technician performs a variety of routine to complex administrative and technical duties related to payroll and other accounting support duties. Top candidates have experience working with financial systems, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and information systems.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• accounts receivable/payable,
• review, post, balance, reconcile, and maintain accurate and confidential accounting and payroll records,
• verify, post, and record a variety of financial transactions; prepare and maintain databases,
• maintain a variety of ledgers, registers, and journals according to established accounting policies and procedures; reconcile transactions and account statements; record changes and resolve differences; maintain the accuracy of accounting and financial records,
• report generation,
• produce journal entries to post payments to the general ledger,
• accurately prepare employee and vendor payments for retirement and other benefits; submits reportable compensation to CalPERS and process payments; prepare Federal and State tax reports.

Summary Description

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1.      Perform a variety of professional accounting functions supporting City-wide operations; maintain accuracy of general, revenue, and expenditure ledgers and subsidiary financial systems.

2.      Reconcile financial ledgers and records; prepare financial statements and reports, general and subsidiary ledgers and supporting schedules; research and resolve discrepancies.

3.      Review and audit all accounts payable, purchase orders, cash receipts, business licenses, payroll, utility billing, and other accounting records and transactions; ensure money is posted to correct accounts and that all accounts balance.

4.      Provide assistance in the development of the annual budget; assist in the review and validation of the annual City budget; create a variety of spreadsheets, documents, and graphs; assist in preparing the final budget document for approval by City Council.

5.      Prepare bank reconciliations and related journal entries for a variety of accounts.

6.      Prepare a variety of monthly, periodic, and annual financial and statistical reports and account summaries; prepare treasurer reports; prepare and file annual State Controllers Report.

7.      Assist in preparation of year end closings and accompanying financial reports.

8.      Perform grant accounting work related to federal, state or grant agency funding; maintain records for audit purposes.

9.      Maintain and track fixed asset inventory control records for the City.

10.   Participate in the year-end audit; compile and prepare supporting schedules, work papers, and financial reports as requested by auditors.

11.   Prepare property tax remittances for payment.

12.   Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve issues in an efficient and timely manner.

13.   Provide responsible staff assistance to management staff; perform special department projects as assigned.

14.   Serve as department liaison to various City committees as necessary.

15.   Perform related duties as required.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the position of Public Safety Dispatcher with an energetic and highly motivated individual who possesses excellent customer service, technical and interpersonal skills.

 
Under general supervision of the Senior Public Safety Dispatcher, processes emergency and non-emergency calls for service; dispatches police, fire, medical, rescue, animal control or other emergency equipment, by telephone or radio, utilizing complex technical aids, such as computer aided dispatch systems (CAD); and performs related work as required.

The minimum qualifications required for this position are - Graduation from high school or tested equivalent; and Two years of experience dispatching police and/or fire services for a public safety agency utilizing contemporary dispatching technical tools, including computer aided dispatching systems; or successful completion of probation as a Public Safety Dispatcher-in-Training with the City of Sunnyvale.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Equivalent to graduation from high school and thirty (30) semester units of college level work with an emphasis in public safety, supervision and management, public administration or related subjects; and
• Five years' experience dispatching in the public safety field, at least two (2) years of which having been at the supervisory level.
Possible Substitutions:
• Administrative or supervisory experience in a public safety department may be substituted for the dispatching experience on a year for year basis.

LICENSE
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for duration of employment.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
• Willing to respond to callback in case of major emergencies or local disasters;
• Willing to work Saturdays and odd, irregular and unusual hours;
• Will be required to pass a City background investigation, which will include fingerprinting, polygraph and/or psychological testing; and
• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job.
