The City of Dixon Fire Department is recruiting to fill current firefighter paramedic vacancies as soon as possible and to establish an eligibility for future needs. This recruitment will be open continuously, and applications will be pulled from FCTC the first week of every month.
To be considered eligible for this hiring and eligibility list, you must meet the following criteria:
- Pass the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) Entry Level Firefighter Written Exam and be placed on the FCTC Statewide Eligibility List.
- Possess a current, valid Cal-JAC CPAT Card issued within the last 12 months from date of application submission and ability to pass the City of Dixon's aerial ladder agility test.
- Possess a valid Firefighter 1 Academy certificate or California State Fire Marshal Firefighter 1 Certificate.
- Possess a current, valid California or National Registry Paramedic certification (note: persons possessing a National Registry Certification will be required to register as a California Paramedic prior to appointment).
- Valid California Class “C” Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

The Dixon Fire Department offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for qualified applicants pursuing a career in fire safety. The position performs fire prevention activities to save lives and property; responds to hazardous material incidents; responds to all fire alarms with designated company; prepares and operates the necessary equipment at the scene of the fire such as a hose, ladders, chemicals, bars, hooks, etc.; administers first aid to injured patrons; performs other acts required of a Firefighter at the scene of an emergency; carries out all duties assigned by Superior Officers. Work involves irregular hours during the day and evenings, and on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

The first week of every month Dixon will pull a list from FCTC and the most qualified candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related training and experience will be considered.
