LIBRARIAN III, ADULT SERVICES-CENTRAL SANTA ROSA LIBRARY 

40 HOURS PER WEEK – FULL TIME

 
We are seeking a customer service driven library professional with excellent communication skills to  supervise the Adult Services department at the Central Santa Rosa Library. The ideal candidate will have strong outreach, technical, and training skills and be willing to work in a sometimes fast-paced and often vibrant “all ages” environment.

Under general supervision, this full-time, benefited position develops and participates in the full range of routine to complex professional library services for the community, including the development of programs and services; identification of current community needs and the projection of future needs; and performs related work as assigned.
 
TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to: 

• Participates in budget preparation and administration; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; submits justifications for budget items; monitors and controls expenditures; performs grant-writing activities for assigned specialized area.
• Provides supervision to professional, technical, and paraprofessional staff and volunteers.
• Provides assistance to and advises patrons in the effective use of Library collection, facilities and services; demonstrates the use of library resources, tools, equipment, and electronic reference sources; assists with digital downloads.
• Performs outreach to the community, community organizations, and schools; informs community members and organizations about library services, programs, and collections to generate public support for library and fundraising efforts.
• Takes the lead in anticipating changes in community needs and changing technology and information services, and plans how to address needs and implement changes.
• Acts as the Person-in-Charge, including making responsible and appropriate decisions based upon patron and branch or unit needs.
• May participate in circulation functions at a public service desk as needed.

The City of Foster City has an opening for a Engineering Intern in the Public Works Department. The position is part-time with flexible scheduling, up to 980 hours per fiscal year, and no benefits provided. The department is interested in candidates for the summer or candidates who can start as soon as possible.  

Important and Essential Responsibilities: 
Daily responsibilities will include works directly with the Public Works staff, populating the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database, and performing indexing and data entry. Other duties may include providing project assistance to technical and engineering staff related to capital improvement projects, researching, CAD drafting, plan review, data collection and analysis, permit issuance, and compiling information from various sources, and providing administrative or other support in the Public Works Department. 

Education and Training Guidelines: 
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way would be:

• Education: Graduation from high school. A degree or degree in progress in Engineering program in a school or university is required.
• Experience:  No experience is necessary; 6 months of paid or documented volunteer experience in a municipal agency is desirable.

Licenses, Certificates, Registration: 
Possess a valid California Driver's license with a good driving record.

Salary will be determined by experience and education.

THE POSITION

The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for staff to assist with events at the Rocklin Events Center and other locations in the City. The Events Venue Specialist (Program Assistant) is a temporary position and incumbents work on an as-needed basis, not to exceed 28 hours per week and up to 999 hours per fiscal year. Temporary employment does not provide any guarantee of continued employment and the City of Rocklin may end the assignment at any time. Temporary employees are not eligible for any other benefits except where required by law and there is no guarantee of future permanent employment.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performs light janitorial duties (e.g., empty trash, clean restrooms, and restock supplies) before, during, and after events.
• Sets up audio visual equipment at venue site.
• Checks clients in and out of City venues.
• Takes prospective renters on tours of facilities and answers questions about pricing and equipment at each rental location.
• Ensures client needs are met.

THE  SCHEDULE 

A typical schedule looks like this:  

Evening and Night shifts Sunday through Thursday

Shifts vary from 7am - 1am Friday and Saturday

Night and weekend availability is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years of age

Six (6) months of volunteer or work experience in the area assigned is highly desirable

Licenses and Certifications

Education and Experience:

• One-year relevant experience working in a childcare facility.

SUMMARY

Under immediate supervision, performs routine support duties in support of recreational programs, events, and activities; prepares buildings, fields, and facilities for scheduled activities/events; performs recordkeeping and scorekeeping duties at sports events; provides routine administrative support; and performs related work as required. 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives immediate supervision from higher-level supervisory staff and direction from higher-level staff.  Exercises no supervision over staff.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the entry-level classification in the Recreation Leader series responsible for providing operational assistance and support to an assigned program area.  Positions at this level are not expected to function with the same amount of knowledge or skill level as positions allocated to the Recreation Leader II level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods.  Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern.  Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise.  As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.  This classification is distinguished from the Recreation Leader II in that the latter classification is responsible for performing the full range of duties with respect to providing recreation programs, activities, and classes and providing instruction to participants within an assigned program.

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, performs support work related to recreational programs, events, and activities; provides instruction and conducts classes/activities for program participants under the guidance and direction of higher-level staff; prepares buildings, fields, and facilities for scheduled activities or events; provides routine administrative support; and performs related work as required.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from higher-level supervisory staff and direction from higher-level staff.  Exercises direction over lower-level staff and volunteers.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the journey-level classification in the Recreation Leader series responsible for performing the full range of recreation program class and activities support.  Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative.  Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.  This classification is distinguished from the Recreation Coordinator in that the latter is responsible for all operational activities within an assigned program area, including serving in an ongoing lead capacity over program staff.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Description

The Town of Colma Recreation Services Department is currently accepting applications for Recreation Leaders for Summer 2024.  The Recreation Department provides programs and activities for Colma residents of all ages ranging from infants to seniors. Program elements include fitness, enrichment, cultural events, special events, sporting events, trips, and community events. San Mateo County Health is seeking a qualified Therapy Aide - Extra-Help for the Rehabilitation Services Department in the San Mateo Medical Center.

Rehabilitation Services provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to patients in the acute, long-term care, outpatient and acute psychiatric units of San Mateo Medical Center. Under supervision, the Therapy Aide assists Physical and Occupational Therapists with mobilizing patients and assisting physical and occupational therapists in carrying out treatments primarily on the acute medical/surgical and long-term care units of San Mateo Medical Center.

CASUAL RECREATION SPECIALIST/LEAD

5 - 25 HOURS/WEEK (Flexible)          

 

Note: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30).   

Recreation Services Division has multiple program lead staff openings across many recreation programs and activities. We serve youth, adults and older adults and have opportunities for flexible working hours (i.e., morning, after school, evenings, lunch time, weekends, etc.). Individuals may choose to work one assignment or multiple assignments and flexible work hours are possible to accommodate school schedules and/or other commitments.

 

 Essential Job Functions:May include, but are not limited to the following:

• Organize and lead activities such as arts & crafts, sports & games, health & fitness
• Supervise participants, volunteers and program support staff during programs/activities
