We are seeking a customer service driven IT professional for our full-time Information Technology Technician II position, which will provide a variety of technical and information systems support and training throughout the library system.

Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager, this position is responsible for troubleshooting computer-related problems; installing, customizing, implementing and maintaining software, hardware and network configurations, and various systems; developing and delivering technical training related to the public services function; providing support for desktop computer applications, Internet/Intranet, self-service portals, web based applications, and email systems; participating in planning, designing, implementing, testing, and supporting new or modified automation systems; researching and reviewing new software and hardware; performing other duties as assigned.
 
 
TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to: 

• Performs complex technical and operational IT support work and systems administration and/or leads the work of others engaged in routine technical and operational IT support.

The City of Redwood City invites applications for Tree Maintenance Worker I/II. 

THE POSITION

The current opening is in the Street Tree Maintenance section of the Public Works Services department and provides an excellent opportunity for growth in the field of Right-of-Way maintenance.  The Tree Maintenance Worker I/II is expected to perform a variety of semi-skilled work involving trimming, removal, installation and general maintenance of trees.

A few typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Prune trees and shrubbery to provide clearance of streets, sidewalks, signs, and lights and as necessary to insure continued health of the plant.

Under general supervision, this full-time, benefited position develops and participates in the full range of routine to complex professional library services for the community, including the development of programs and services; identification of current community needs and the projection of future needs; and performs related work as assigned.

The City of Sausalito is seeking a dynamic and innovative team player for the position of Librarian II at the Sausalito Public Library. Under general direction from the City Librarian, the Librarian II will support all programs and/or functional areas in the City Library, including identifying current and projecting future community needs and providing leadership to initiatives to improve library services.

The responsibilities assigned to the Librarian II will be primarily oriented towards services to children and young adults, including providing direct support to children attending the schools of the Sausalito Marin City School District and their teachers.

The incumbent will also perform a variety of professional librarian duties, such as reference services, collection development and management, and cataloging. The Librarian II manages the effective use of library resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service while providing highly complex and responsible support to the City Librarian in their areas of expertise, as well as performing related work as required.

$32.00 - $49.64 per hour

Substitute Library Assistant

$22.50 - $34.90 per hour

The San Rafael Public Library is accepting applications for Substitute Librarians and Substitute Library Assistants to work in our San Rafael Public Libraries, including Downtown (1100 E Street), Pickleweed (50 Canal Street), and Northgate (5800 Northgate Drive, Ste. 083).  We are looking for people who are available on call, weekends, or other limited shifts.  This is a great opportunity for those interested in working at both a downtown and neighborhood branch libraries, as well as those excited by providing library services to a diverse community.  These are temporary positions, limited to 1,000 hours worked within a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30) and receive no City benefits.

Substitute Librarians perform professional-level library public service work, including answering reference questions, providing readers’ advisory, providing technical assistance, and presenting programs (as needed).

Substitute Library Assistants perform circulation tasks such as checking materials in and out, and work at the public service desk, assisting patrons with basic requests including answering simple questions, creating new patron accounts, and referring patrons to other staff for more complex questions. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Substitute Librarians:

• Knowledge of Library Services and reference materials; readers advisory; professional practices and techniques of library science; and on-line library systems and information resources.
• Masters in library science issued by a college or university accredited by the American Library Association is preferred.
• Ability to work and effectively communicate with a diverse range of patrons.
• Bilingual in Spanish desired.

Substitute Library Assistants:

• Knowledge of basic office practices and procedures, including the operation of standard office equipment; alphabetical, numerical, and topical filing systems; material organization and structure of libraries; including categories of materials and general arrangement; library technical services terminology and equipment including on-line databases.
• Experience working in public libraries preferred.
• Ability to work and effectively communicate with a diverse range of patrons.
• Bilingual in Spanish desired.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, performs a variety of preventative maintenance, repairs, and installation of water pollution control plant, sewage pumping facilities, and equipment; maintains accurate maintenance records; orders and maintains an inventory of supplies, parts, and other frequently used items; and performs related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Treatment Plant Maintenance Worker I is distinguished from Treatment Plant Maintenance Worker II in that the Treatment Plant Maintenance Worker II level requires a higher level of certification and is able to perform a broader range of duties more independently.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED 

Receives general supervision from supervisory or management staff in assigned department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties listed below are illustrative only and are not meant to be a full and exhaustive listing of all of the duties and responsibilities of the position.

• Maintains and repairs pumps, motors, plumbing, electrical, and exercise and lubricate machinery within the plant; records and maintains accurate maintenance records in a daily log book;
• Orders supplies and materials; orders inventory of frequently used parts, oil, and filters for equipment used in the plant;
• Completes monthly work orders and enters information regarding maintenance tasks into the system; records SCADA; records hours on equipment and meters; makes entries into the end of the month report and prints work order summary;
• Generates new maintenance work orders for each month; prioritizes tasks to be performed on Water Pollution Control Plant equipment;
• Performs cleanup of the plant, removing trash, washing down decks, and clearing leaves and branches from storm drains; cleans tools and makes sure equipment is in proper locations and power tools are in safe working condition;
• Changes oil and filters on various pumps and compressors in the plant; maintains safety inspections of fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and ladders in the plant;
• Removes and replaces packing from various pumps in the plant; installs new rings of packing with new Lantern rings if damaged; applies grease to the new set of packing for proper lubrication; removes corrosion or debris from packing gland before reinstalling;
• Evaluates pump performance and flow rate to determine if pump has excessive buildup of rags that is affecting its performance and efficiency; shuts down pumps to remove rags from impeller and clears any obstructions;
• Replaces damaged parts/fittings on leaking chemical feed pumps; makes alterations to existing supply tubing or fittings, replacing clamps or O-rings, or removing debris caught in the check valves; inspects, tests, calibrates, adjusts, cleans, and paints equipment in the water pollution control plant; and
• Performs related duties as assigned.

JOB-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and techniques of the installation, maintenance, and repair of water treatment plan systems; operation of various hand and power tools; proper procedures to safely perform maintenance on machinery and equipment in the plant; maintenance for MP2 program; recording and updating repair history on water pollution control plant equipment; how to create new work orders and close out completed work orders; forklift operations and scissor lift; replacing, repairing, and installing piping, fittings, and valves on water pollution control equipment; data entry of important, vital information regarding maintenance repairs; performance and evaluation on future preventative maintenance in the WPCP MP2 program; proper protective equipment.

Ability to: Drive and operate vehicles and equipment safely; keep inventory, order, and stock necessary parts and supplies for the maintenance shop; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the work; adhere to prescribed policies, procedures, routines, and practices; carry out assignments with minimal instructions; read and understand written instructions, maps, equipment operation manuals, and other written documents associated with the work; effectively schedule work; effectively keep written records.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING GUIDELINES

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Technical training in a water treatment plant system or related field is desirable.

Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pollution control plant and sewage pumping facilities.

Licenses: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license, obtain and maintain a California Class B Driver’s License, and a satisfactory driving record. CWEA Certification as a Grade I Mechanical Technologist.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Respond to work at any hour of the day or night, within designated timeframe, as required during afterhours, weekend service, and/or emergency situations; carry communication equipment in order to respond after work hours. Vision, hearing, and physical ability adequate to obtain and maintain a California Class B Driver’s License; speak clearly and understandably. Requires moderate and sometimes strenuous exertion including bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, lifting, twisting, digging, carrying, and/or handling material weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds. Work in confined spaces and wear protective equipment. May work in conditions that require exposure to noise, odors, chemical and biological agents, gases, and contact with sanitary wastewater; work at heights up to 20 feet; work in varying temperatures of cold and heat, and in inclement weather for extended periods of time; work in conditions that may contain dust, mold, and various chemicals.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Supervising Librarian at the Berkeley Public Library! In this role, you will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of the physical facility, supervision of professional, technical, and support staff, and providing reference and reader advisory services for the public. You will also represent Berkeley Public Library in meetings with the public, citizen groups, and other agencies.

This recruitment will create an eligible list that will be used by various Library divisions to fill future temporary and/or career positions in the next 12 months.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this classification is:
Equivalent to graduation from college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science and three (3) years of experience as a professional librarian. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

Other requirements include the ability to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program's needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

In addition to the qualifications above, the ideal candidate will have lead or supervisory experience.
