ABOUT THE POSITION
The Gilroy Police Department is actively seeking an undergraduate-level or graduate- level Police Administration College Intern to assist police officers and other professional staff in various divisions. The intern will perform general clerical duties related to crime analysis, youth task form and gang prevention, public safety communication, community outreach, handle confidential information, and assist with other police related projects and assignments. The Police Administration Intern will also engage and interact with the community at various local community events.

The Police Intern will work under the direction of a Police Sergeant and/or Police Captain to help streamline the needs of the multiple units in the Police Department.

VOLUNTEER WORK SCHEDULE 
Internships can start as early as May 31, 2024 and end as late as September 30, 2024. 
 
This paid internship is offered at 20 – 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Interns may request a schedule of their choice during standard work hours as described below. 
 
The office start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Assisting police officers and other professional staff within Police Department. 
• Prepare and produce 911 audio recordings.
• Communicating and Interacting with the community.  
• Participating in the planning of community events.  
• Develop excel spreadsheets for department permitting programs.
• Assist with other Police Department related projects and events. 

THE POSITION

The Police Captain is an at-will position and serves at the pleasure of the City Manager. Under the general direction of the Police Chief, the Police Captain plans, directs, manages, and coordinates the personnel and activities of a major division within the Police Department; assists in the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; coordinates assigned activities with other City departments, divisions, and outside agencies; serves as Acting Chief in the Police Chief's absence; provides responsible administrative support to the Police Chief; and performs related duties as assigned. Examples of duties are:

• Plans, directs, manages, coordinates, and evaluates the work of a major division of the Police Department, which may include field operations, investigations, communications, public services and programs, and administration; develops, recommends, and administers policies and procedures.
• Develops and directs the implementation of division goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; establishes, within City policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; allocates resources accordingly.
• Continuously monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assesses and monitors workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identifies opportunities for improvement; directs the implementation of changes.
• Represents the Police Department to other City departments, elected officials, and outside agencies; explains, justifies, and supports Police Department programs, policies, and activities; negotiates and resolves sensitive, significant, and controversial issues.
• Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates Police Department personnel; provides or coordinate staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in criminal justice, criminology , police science, public or business administration, or a closely related field;

AND

Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience as a sworn law enforcement officer, including at least two (2) years equivalent to a lieutenant or above.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Possession of a California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Management Certificate.

Working Conditions

Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment. Must be a United States citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for citizenship. Incumbents must pass a thorough background investigation.

Must be willing to work emergencies as well as evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must meet physical, psychological, and background standards established by POST as well as ongoing peace officer requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation. This classification functions as a peace officer within the authority and limits of California Penal Code Sections 830.1(a) and 832.

All City of Rocklin employees are designated as Emergency Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to perform certain emergency services at the direction of the department and/or City.

Overview:
The Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist’s primary role is to implement, administer, and maintain Valley Waters Workers’ Compensation program, including but not limited to third-party administration, OSH medical services, OSH insurance, modified work, and case management. This position will serve as the Program Lead for assigned EH&S programs, including Employee Training, Designated Employee Representative (DER) for Commercial Driver, Infection Control, Hearing Conservation, and Respiratory Protection. This position will support the Lockout-Tagout program by managing the lock and tag inventory and equipment needs; and the Facility Safety Audit program by performing audits.
 
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Implement, administer, and maintain Valley Waters Workers’ Compensation program, including but not limited to third-party administration, OSH medical services, OSH insurance, modified work, return-to-work,  and overall case management.

• Conduct regular inspections and audits of workplace environments to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, or near-misses, and develop recommendations for preventive measures.
• Provide guidance and support to employees and management on environmental, health, and safety matters, promoting a culture of safety awareness and compliance.

Ideal Knowledge:

• Comprehensive knowledge of Workers' Compensation laws, regulations, and best practices. Applicable federal and state laws, including the labor code relating to federal and state OSHA regulations, federal DOT regulations, and federal, state, and local environmental, codes, and regulations.
• Understanding of injury management principles, including medical treatment protocols and return-to-work strategies.
• Familiarity with safety training methodologies, adult learning principles, and instructional design techniques.
• Knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies, with the ability to apply them in diverse workplace settings.
• Understanding of emergency response planning and crisis management principles.
• Awareness of emerging trends and technologies in environmental, health, and safety management.

Ideal Training and Education:
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in industrial safety, construction technology, environmental sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, or a related field.  

Substitution:
Directly related experience may be substituted on the basis of one and one-half years of experience for the one year of education.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. About The Position:

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff-Lateral. VEHICLE ABATEMENT OFFICER - TEMPORARY (Approximately 20 hours per week)

The City is now accepting applications for the position of Vehicle Abatement Officer (Temporary) in the Police Department. Under supervision, this position will respond to complaints from the public related to abandoned vehicles; enforce municipal and vehicle codes, and parking regulations; maintain records; and perform other duties as assigned. This is a non-sworn classification responsible for enforcing parking regulations, identifying, marking and tagging abandoned vehicles, and arranging for their removal.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma or GED equivalent, AND six months of public contact experience
