Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Coordinator I – Facilities is responsible for assisting with the smooth operation of activities, programs, rentals, and special events at multiple Recreation Facilities. This position requires a high level of customer service, attention to detail, marketing prowess, and event planning and management expertise.

Mill Valley Recreation is a 7-day a week operation.

Recreation Coordinator I - Facilities schedule may include weekday, weekend, early morning and evening shifts. Schedule is subject to change depending on facility and supervisor needs. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Act as the primary point of contact for rental inquiries, promptly responding to emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries regarding facility rentals.
• Facilitate the rental booking process by liaising with internal staff and external parties to schedule rental dates, coordinate setup requirements, and confirm rental agreements.
• Oversee the rental application process by providing interested parties with necessary documentation, rental agreements, and pricing details.
• Collect and review rental applications, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate.
• Provide timely updates to both renters and internal stakeholders regarding rental status, payment deadlines, and any changes to rental arrangements.
• Maintain organized records of rental bookings, payments, and rental agreements, ensuring compliance with rental policies and procedures. 
• Schedule and provide regular in-service training for facilities staff. 
• Plan, develop and implement programs and events.
• Evaluate the progress and effectiveness of scheduling and programming utilizing measurable outcomes.
• Assist in the development of policies, procedures, contracts, and manuals for facility users and staff.
• Provide assistance and guidance to facility users, anticipate and resolve problems, provide quality customer service.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Associate Transportation Engineer in the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department! 

When assigned to development review, you will have the opportunity to review residential, commercial, industrial and public works project plans, traffic impact reports, and other development and design related documents for compliance with City of Berkeley standards and regulations including all applicable local, state, and federal codes and guidelines; evaluate and recommend mitigation measures to address adverse impacts of development projects; review plan checks for small developments; and review traffic control plans for construction projects.

When assigned to capital projects designs and traffic signal systems, you will have the opportunity to manage capital improvement projects including development of conceptual design options, detailed engineering design, bid, and construction administration; prepare council reports, conduct presentations, and respond to project-related public inquiries; design/review traffic engineering design elements for Complete Streets Projects and traffic calming projects; work with project development team to analyze street and road use for all road users focusing on safety and efficiency of transportation networks; and work with traffic signal maintenance team to maintain and upgrade city’s traffic signal system, including using Synchro traffic signal timing software. An ideal candidate in this role is proficient in scope, schedule, and cost management with managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously as well as working knowledge of complete streets design principles, traffic calming and traffic control elements, civil engineering, roadway design, and Citywide plans including Bike Plan and Pedestrian Plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil or traffic engineering and five years of increasingly responsible traffic engineering experience, three years of which were at a level equivalent to the Assistant Transportation Engineer class. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college course work on a year for year basis.

Other requirements include possession of a valid California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer or a professional Civil Engineer. A CA Registration as a Traffic Engineer is preferred. Candidates must also possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Desirable qualifications include a master's degree in Transportation Engineering/Planning or a related field.

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships, engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving, and leveraging financial and volunteer resources. The Department’s nationally and internationally recognized programs support thousands of residents throughout their life course, from infants to elders. The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community. With input from local, older adults (age 55 years+) as our guide, the AFS team strives to provide and AFS staff work together to provide a continuum of supportive services that range from health promotion activities to home-based end of life care. AFS has a Senior InfoLine (phone and email) that is answered in 4 language (Farsi, English, Spanish and Chinese) that is often an entry point. As an older adult or their caregiver’s situation changes, they seamlessly have access to a continuum of programs that include counseling and emotional support; care coordination and resource assistance; specialized family caregiver support and education. Many of these supportive services are provided in the resident’s home. We also provide regular expert clinical consultation, supervision, opportunities for self-reflection, and team building, fostering a culture of empathy, inclusivity, humility, and respect.

The Position

Under the supervision of the Age Well Center Managers, the Chef/Food Services Manager position manages meal programs for the City of Fremont’s Age Well Centers. Chef responsibilities across both Age Well Center locations include the performance of menu planning, purchasing of foodstuffs, preparing quantity meals, supervising and assisting kitchen employees and volunteers and maintaining clean and orderly kitchens.

The incumbent will be responsible for properly cooked, economical, and wholesome, well balanced meals in City operated Age Well Centers. This position is not limited to being responsible for the assignment of work, supervision and evaluation of paid and volunteer food service workers. The review and approval of proposed menus, food purchases, control and monitoring of expenditure rates; and institution of disciplinary actions are functions reserved for the Program Coordinator or Age Well Center Managers.

Examples of Duties

• Plan menus with consideration for the dietary needs of older adults, wholesomeness, quantity of food to be prepared and budgetary constraints.
• Estimate food requirements and requisitions for food and supplies.
• Prepare, cook, and serve a wide variety of foodstuffs for quantity food service.
• May cut/carve and cook meats; bake breads, cakes and pastries; peel and prepare vegetables; and make salads.
• Place food in serving containers and serves food.
• Maintain proper temperature, rotation and storage of food.
• Direct and assist in cleaning kitchens and kitchen equipment after each meal.
• Estimate food requirements and requisitions for food and supplies.
• Direct and assist in the cleaning of the kitchen and kitchen equipment after each meal.
• Oversee that the kitchen and equipment are kept clean, sanitary and in proper working condition. Schedule regular maintenance of kitchen equipment as needed. Maintain standards of safety and sanitation in kitchen area.
• Recruit, train, supervise, instruct, and direct employees and volunteers assigned to working in the kitchens.
• Develop and support additional meal programs, including, but not limited to fundraisers, catering events and cooking demonstrations and special events.
• Keep records and prepare reports as required. Inclusive of any certification requirements and/or medical clearances required of subordinate employees and volunteers.
• Oversee community garden program, including crop rotation, seasonal planting, and maintenance assignment.
• Coordinate with office staff, marketing and sales strategies to increase visibility and participation for meal programs.
• Ensure kitchen compliance with health regulations and participate in health inspections.
• Other duties as assigned.

Community Outreach: Summer Youth Volunteers Project Plan 

The Community Outreach team is seeking a summer intern for a 10–12-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to gain valuable experience managing high school aged volunteers that will support a variety of summer camps and programs throughout the district.  

Key duties 

• Be primary point of contact for Summer Youth Volunteers. 

• Assist with volunteer orientation and ongoing training sessions throughout the summer. 

• Oversee volunteer schedule. 

• Track volunteer hours logging. 

• Create program completion documents. 

• Assist with planning end of summer recognition event. 

Key deliverables will be: 

• Maintain volunteer hour tracking and create end of summer recap report. 

• Complete summer training and check-in reports. 

• Create and distribute volunteer completion certification with hours totals for all summer volunteers. 

• Report any concerns from staff and volunteers or development opportunities for volunteers through regular check-ins. 

What learning will occur for the intern?

Community Services Intern Project Plan

The Community Services team is seeking a summer intern for a 7-10-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to allow a student to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced youth development and recreation staff and assisting in promoting a safe, healthy environment within the camp setting by providing emotional support to the participants. 

Key duties

• Provides guidance, support, and assistance to staff throughout the week, which includes managing camper behavior issues, stress, and personal care needs
• Process critical incidents with supervisory staff.
• Participate in the intern group project.
• Provide support and be a role model to all participants.

Key deliverables will be:

• A training plan for camp staff to better understand best practices in working with children with special needs.
• Protocols to be followed when a situation arises with a child and what steps to take
• A template to be used for a behavior plan to include goals and actions.

• Being part of a strong staff team
• The creation of action plans to be used in a camp setting

• Reviews and issues encroachment permits for work in the public right-of-way to residents, private utility companies including but not limited to PG&E, AT&T, Comcast, Alameda County Water District (ACWD) and Union Sanitary District (USD).
• Assists the Project Engineer in the review of private development applications from planning entitlement phase, to issuance of building permits, to approval of final/parcel maps and construction of any public improvements required to support the proposed development.
• Provides customer service at the Development Service Center related to private development applications and requirements for issuance of encroachment permits.

Engineering Technician II (Development Section)

In addition to the duties listed above for Engineering Technician I:

• Participates in the review and recommendation process for more complex encroachment and grading permits.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Police Department is seeking to fill the full-time exempt position of Senior Management Analyst II (Advanced Professional Temp). • Supports the public meeting process including coordinating agenda items for public meetings, memorializing meeting minutes and any actions taken by the PAAC.
• Supports the PAAC Chair in the facilitation of the meeting process for this new committee.

• Assess and examine public safety best practices.
• Provides administrative support between meetings and in preparation for public meetings.
