DEFINITION: Under general supervision, performs a variety of preventative maintenance, repairs, and installation of water pollution control plant, sewage pumping facilities, and equipment; maintains accurate maintenance records; orders and maintains an inventory of supplies, parts, and other frequently used items; and performs related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Treatment Plant Maintenance Worker I is distinguished from Treatment Plant Maintenance Worker II in that the Treatment Plant Maintenance Worker II level requires a higher level of certification and is able to perform a broader range of duties more independently.

Receives general supervision from supervisory or management staff in assigned department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties listed below are illustrative only and are not meant to be a full and exhaustive listing of all of the duties and responsibilities of the position.

• Maintains and repairs pumps, motors, plumbing, electrical, and exercise and lubricate machinery within the plant; records and maintains accurate maintenance records in a daily log book;
• Orders supplies and materials; orders inventory of frequently used parts, oil, and filters for equipment used in the plant;
• Completes monthly work orders and enters information regarding maintenance tasks into the system; records SCADA; records hours on equipment and meters; makes entries into the end of the month report and prints work order summary;
• Generates new maintenance work orders for each month; prioritizes tasks to be performed on Water Pollution Control Plant equipment;
• Performs cleanup of the plant, removing trash, washing down decks, and clearing leaves and branches from storm drains; cleans tools and makes sure equipment is in proper locations and power tools are in safe working condition;
• Changes oil and filters on various pumps and compressors in the plant; maintains safety inspections of fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and ladders in the plant;
• Removes and replaces packing from various pumps in the plant; installs new rings of packing with new Lantern rings if damaged; applies grease to the new set of packing for proper lubrication; removes corrosion or debris from packing gland before reinstalling;
• Evaluates pump performance and flow rate to determine if pump has excessive buildup of rags that is affecting its performance and efficiency; shuts down pumps to remove rags from impeller and clears any obstructions;
• Replaces damaged parts/fittings on leaking chemical feed pumps; makes alterations to existing supply tubing or fittings, replacing clamps or O-rings, or removing debris caught in the check valves; inspects, tests, calibrates, adjusts, cleans, and paints equipment in the water pollution control plant; and
• Performs related duties as assigned.

JOB-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and techniques of the installation, maintenance, and repair of water treatment plan systems; operation of various hand and power tools; proper procedures to safely perform maintenance on machinery and equipment in the plant; maintenance for MP2 program; recording and updating repair history on water pollution control plant equipment; how to create new work orders and close out completed work orders; forklift operations and scissor lift; replacing, repairing, and installing piping, fittings, and valves on water pollution control equipment; data entry of important, vital information regarding maintenance repairs; performance and evaluation on future preventative maintenance in the WPCP MP2 program; proper protective equipment.

Ability to: Drive and operate vehicles and equipment safely; keep inventory, order, and stock necessary parts and supplies for the maintenance shop; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the work; adhere to prescribed policies, procedures, routines, and practices; carry out assignments with minimal instructions; read and understand written instructions, maps, equipment operation manuals, and other written documents associated with the work; effectively schedule work; effectively keep written records.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING GUIDELINES

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Technical training in a water treatment plant system or related field is desirable.

Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pollution control plant and sewage pumping facilities.

Licenses: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license, obtain and maintain a California Class B Driver’s License, and a satisfactory driving record. CWEA Certification as a Grade I Mechanical Technologist.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Respond to work at any hour of the day or night, within designated timeframe, as required during afterhours, weekend service, and/or emergency situations; carry communication equipment in order to respond after work hours. Vision, hearing, and physical ability adequate to obtain and maintain a California Class B Driver’s License; speak clearly and understandably. Requires moderate and sometimes strenuous exertion including bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, lifting, twisting, digging, carrying, and/or handling material weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds. Work in confined spaces and wear protective equipment. May work in conditions that require exposure to noise, odors, chemical and biological agents, gases, and contact with sanitary wastewater; work at heights up to 20 feet; work in varying temperatures of cold and heat, and in inclement weather for extended periods of time; work in conditions that may contain dust, mold, and various chemicals.

Position Summary

 

Under general supervision, operates a variety of transit vehicles to transport passengers along specific, assigned routes according to the District's requirements.  Provide service in a safe, courteous and reliable manner.   Responsible for written reports and other information as required.  Upon completion of the Golden Gate Transit Training Program, the employee operates regularly scheduled assignments.  All runs will originate in either Santa Rosa, Novato or San Rafael.

 If selected for the position, new hires will need to complete Golden Gate Bridge, Highway & Transportation District’s Bus Operator Apprenticeship Program ($30.23/hr benefits not included) which is approximately twelve (12) weeks, Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Upon successful completion of training: $32.01 per hour, plus benefits. All new hires will be required to complete a 120 probationary period upon completion of training.

• Transports passengers along assigned routes, making designated stops as required or requested.
• Uses the fare box to accurately collect fares, issues transfers and gives general information.

• Operates automatic lift on buses and assists passengers in wheelchairs, those using crutches or walkers, or who have speech or mental difficulty.

Minimum Qualifications

 

• No experience is necessary. 
• Must be a licensed driver for at least seven (7) years prior to the date of this posting. Role description

Under direction, the 2595 Senior EAP Counselor provides direction and supervision to counselors providing organizational wellness services and engaged in direct client counseling; provides clinical assessments, short-term counseling, and referral of City and County employees experiencing difficulties related to personal or work-related problems; conducts seminars, trainings, and consultations on issues related to personal and organizational wellness; prepares records and reports; and performs related duties as required.

The City of San Mateo Public Works Department is looking for a Maintenance Worker I-II

The Public Works Department is comprised of the Engineering and Facilities Services Division (EFSD) and the Environmental Services Division (ESD). Each division is led by a Deputy Director reporting to the Director of Public Works. What You'll Do

The Maintenance Worker position may be filled at either the I or II level based on experience. The Assistant Director, Operational Accounting will report directly to the Section Director, Financial Reporting and Operational Accounting, and will have management and oversight of operational areas of accounting including indirect cost allocation plan, single audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. The Assistant Director will prepare reports pertaining to operational accounting and will be a major contributor and advocate for operational accounting in the agency-wide ERP project.  The Assistant Director will provide oversight in the development and/or review of policies and procedures in operational accounting.

In coordination with internal stakeholders, this position will assist in development and/or review of policies and procedures and developing and evaluating the internal controls in AP, AR, and payroll.

This position will perform a variety of complex analytical, compliance, and administrative work in support of reporting functions; management of the operational accounting team and overall relationship with agency sections and program staff; coordinate with various outside agencies; analyze financial information and data; and communicate important financial information clearly to all entities. Education: A Master's degree in accounting, finance, public or business administration, or a related field, including a minimum of 24 semester-hours in accounting.  Applicants with a degree issued from an institution outside the United States must have their transcripts evaluated by an academic accrediting service and provide proof of equivalency along with their application.    

Experience: Five years of increasingly complex and diverse professional accounting work experience, two years of which having full supervisory responsibility for two or more major accounting functions, including the equivalent of two years as an Accounting Supervisor or Senior Financial Analyst for MTC.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years relevant experience preferred
• Participation in ERP System upgrades
• Experience in the assessment of internal controls pertaining to areas in operational accounting (AP, AR, Payroll)
• Experience with Indirect Cost Allocations Plans (ICAP/overhead plan)
• CPA or other related professional license preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:    

• Provide leadership and manage the day-to-day operations in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
• Work with Section Director in onboarding the Indirect Cost Allocation Plan (“ICAP”/Overhead) consultant; manage the annual preparation of the overhead plans.
• Manage internal accounting controls for Operational Accounting including billing and accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and other specialized areas i.e., managing the overhead program.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is a department of the City and County of San Francisco responsible for the management of all ground transportation in the City. The SFMTA has oversight over the Municipal Railway (Muni) public transit, as well as bicycling, paratransit, parking, traffic, walking, and taxis.

The Transit Division is currently in the process of developing and procuring a new train control system, as well as streamlining operations at the new Transportation Management Center (TMC). Under the general direction of the Train Control Upgrade Project Manager, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will lead the integration of the new train control system with the Siemens LRV4 vehicles. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will be responsible for the successful design, fitment, and testing of all onboard equipment necessary to fully install the system on the LRV4 fleet and will represent the SFMTA in all project review and discussion related to onboard equipment installation.

The Train Control Upgrade Project will be delivered through a series of contracts with the technology vendor and other firms providing installation, construction support, technical expertise, and professional services. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will coordinate the design activities related to onboard vehicle equipment between the supplier, the vehicle manufacturer, and the onboard equipment installer. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will work closely with these three parties to ensure that the delivery and installation of onboard train control equipment is completed according to the project schedule. The position will participate in the development of an installation plan to facilitate this process and assist with the selection, training, monitoring, evaluating, and development of project staff, as it relates to the installation of the system on the LRV4 fleet.

In addition, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will act as the SFMTA representative to review, accept, or when necessary, audit, project submittals and deliverables provided by the supplier and other project contractors as it relates to the installation of onboard equipment. As the SFMTA representative, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will have a strong understanding of the project contract requirements and be able to identify key project staff and agency stakeholders for review when evaluating submittals and project deliverables.

Examples of Important and Essential Duties:

• Oversees the successful integration of the train control system with the Siemens LRV4 vehicles, including design, fitment, and testing.
• Leads a team of SFMTA vehicle engineers assigned to the project.
• Coordinates the design activities of the Train Control System Supplier with the car manufacturer (Siemens) and the vehicle onboard equipment installer.
• Represents SFMTA during technical discussions between the Train Control System Supplier, the vehicle manufacturer, and the onboard equipment installer.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Five (5) years of verifiable professional electrical engineering experience, which includes two (2) years experience equivalent to City and County of San Francisco class 5207 Associate Engineer as a licensed Professional Engineer in the specialty you are applying for; AND
2. Possession of a current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California in Electrical Engineering.

Essential functions of the class include:

• Operates, maintains and repairs a wide variety of pumping, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and power generating equipment in a large complex or multi-faceted facility to ensure the safe, correct and efficient functioning of the facility and equipment may be required to operate computerized building management systems, preventative or predictive maintenance computer systems or Computerized Data Gathering System (SCADA).
• Inspects and tests: machinery and equipment for safe, efficient and proper operation by visual and audio inspection during walk-throughs and by standard monitoring; fire prevention equipment to ensure safe and proper functionality; water storage and multiple distribution systems, high pressure zones, wood and steel storage tanks, pumps and relief valves, and samples of water.

• Receives, records and stores large amounts of treatment chemicals and may handle hazardous chemicals in confined or enclosed areas; must be capable of safely and properly handling chemical spills; may also include handling and treatment of industrial or hazardous waste.
• Contacts, communicates and is required to deal with contractors, building tenants and/or the general public in order to be able to discharge assigned duties.
• Maintains keys, communications equipment, and security (in the absence of Security Personnel), in order to ensure the security of a plant and buildings and grounds, including public safety. • Performs control tests on water samples to determine chlorine and fluoride residual, pH, alkalinity, turbidity, color, saturation index and flocculation factors; under supervision, conducts water analysis and regulates treatment chemical dosages to maintain water quality in filtration plant, distribution system, or other large complex facility may also be required to perform water analysis on water/wastewater as required by the State of California; performs boiler water and cooling tower chemical tests, including pH, alkalinity TDS, etc., to monitor and control growth of organisms in water.
• Performs related duties as required.

Nature of work
Involves physical effort in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment; the ability to lift heavy objects; exposure to working conditions where minor abrasions, bruises, and burns may occur; occasional uncomfortable work inside closed and dirty spaces; exposure to potential uncomfortable weather conditions and traffic conditions; and requires physical stamina to stand, stoop, bend and climb ladders while working in confined spaces, entryways and tight crawl spaces.  Some positions may also require the ability to operate both automatic and manual automobile transmission as needed. Employees may be required to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, and a shift of up to 12 hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Four (4) years of verified journey-level stationary engineer experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of a variety of mechanical and electrical pumping, heating, air conditioning, ventilating and related plant machinery used in a government establishment, hospital, industrial, production or commercial building; AND

2. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License; AND

3. Possession at time of hire a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certificate issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.

• Completion of a recognized four-year Stationary Engineer apprenticeship program

THE DEPARTMENT
