DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This entry-level classification in the Program Leader series is responsible for providing child development services in Youth Services programs. Incumbents at this level are not expected to function with the same amount of knowledge or skill level as positions allocated to the Senior Program Leader level, and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.

1. Provides support duties for child development services in Youth Services programs; assists children in activities; prepares and serves snacks based on established guidelines; performs clean-up and food storage duties.

2. Assists in preparing instructional, craft, and other materials; participates in, and encourages, play activities with the children; may assist in providing tutorial and/or remedial activities in small groups.

3. Uses positive reinforcement strategies to maintain order and discipline within the classroom; handles disruptions as needed.

4. Opens, secures, and cleans program areas before and after program use; prepares program areas for scheduled activities and events.

5. Assists in the implementation and monitoring of District procedures with respect to participant safety.

6. May participate in staff meetings, family conferences, and other special meetings; observes and monitors family conditions and notifies supervisor of concerns as appropriate.

7. Assists with maintaining required and appropriate documentation, including observation notes, logs, and other records.

8. May participate in public relations, outreach, and community education activities.

9. Attends staff training, workshops, and courses as directed by supervisor.

10. Assists with District special events as needed.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

•  High School Diploma or GED, or currently enrolled in child development Regional Occupational Program (ROP).
•  Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is desirable.

Knowledge of:

• Child development services, operations, and activities.
•  Modern office practices, methods, computer equipment, and applications related to the work.
•  Principles and practices for providing high level of customer service

Ability to:

•  Learn policies, rules, regulations, operations, services, and activities related to assigned activities.
•  Assist in maintaining the safety of program activities and participants.

Licenses and Certifications:

Completion of American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED training within six months of hire and maintained throughout employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess: mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The classification supports indoor and outdoor programs requiring frequent walking, running, conducting exercises, and related physical activities. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, or tools and equipment used in assigned program area. Program activities may require sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; the ability to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS

Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. May be exposed to communicable illnesses, blood, and body fluids. Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents may be assigned an irregular work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and holidays.

THE POSITION

The City of Rocklin is looking for a seasoned IT professional with a passion for leading teams, driving innovation, and transforming City services through technology. The IT Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the City's strategies and ensuring alignment with the City's mission and objectives. This position will oversee and mentor a team of skilled IT professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture, but also actively participating in the day-to-day operational tasks and responsibilities of the team.

The IT Manager will be responsible for the following upcoming projects:

• Developing a strategic plan for the IT division to foster transparency, increase operational efficiency, improve staff satisfaction, and to bolster trust.
• Replacing the outdated document management and retention system.
• Investing in technology that supports economic development efforts.

An example of duties are:

• Manages, directs, and organizes projects, activities, and resources for the IT Division, including but not limited to networks, servers, workstations, hardware and software utilized throughout the City, IoT, mobile and telephony infrastructure, security systems, data transmission, telecommunication systems, Geographic Information Systems and full IT support for all areas in public safety.
• Assists the Director of Administrative Services or the Deputy Director of Administrative Services in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, and work standards for the City of Rocklin departments and procedures for IT governance, security, and administration.
• Participates in the development and administration of the division budget.
• Plans, organizes, supervises, and evaluates the activities of professional, technical and administrative staff; develops and manages the IT division staff including hiring, education, and training; reviews and evaluates job performance and effectively recommends personnel actions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Services or a closely related field;

AND

Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible infrastructure and enterprise applications management experience in an IT environment consisting of multiple platforms, large-scale applications with multiple operating systems which included a minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Licenses and Certifications

THE POSITION

This position is focused on coordinating and monitoring information technology operational systems for the City including analyzing, diagnosing, maintaining, and troubleshooting assigned system areas such as applications, operating systems, and database systems. This position has a wide breadth of responsibility and is the backbone for ensuring the City’s technology systems always stay up and running. An example of duties are:

• Performs configuration, modification, testing and implementation of vendor software; develops, coordinates and implements plans to test business and functional processes during system development and quality assurance testing.

• Conducts systems analysis; develops business and technical requirements; designs functional and technical specifications; writes source code; tests applications.

• Provides support for specific department applications; tests programs and applications from user’s perspective.

• Acts as a technical resource for staff; identifies and suggests alternatives and recommends process changes through information systems; assists in identifying potential and required changes to business processes and/or procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in MIS, business, management, or a closely related field;

AND

Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in computer technology.

Technical certifications are highly desirable.

The Police Department is recruiting for Veterinary Technician (Part-time/Benefited).

The Position

The Veterinary Technician will assist in the care of animal patients at the City’s animal shelter. Additional key responsibilities include use of medical care equipment, as well as moving and handling domestic animals and wildlife. The Veterinary Technician reports to the Animal Services Manager and assists the veterinarian, animal services officers and administrative team and is responsible for quality humane treatment of all animals in the care of the Tri-City Animal Shelter. The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Program Manager II in the Information Technology Department! In this role, you will perform as a technical portfolio manager overseeing staff assigned to function as project managers. The Information Technology Department’s Development Services Solutions team is seeking qualified candidates to fill the Information System Analyst positions to support the development and maintenance for several Off-The-Shelf (OTS) and custom systems and applications that support operations of the Planning, Building, Code Enforcement department and the Development Services process at the City of San Jose. The primary role of this position is to act as technical lead in supporting and managing diverse departmental business systems that include web and client servers’ application, database, Permitting and Compliance, public web portal, Business Intelligence, GIS, Inspection scheduling/Dispatch, Digital Inspection and performing all duties necessary for maintaining, supporting and optimize systems.  This position must ensure business processes for users are documented and that systems meet customer expectations.  This position is responsible for ongoing user training, report creation, systems administrations, system support, maintenance, and programming efforts and must maintain excellent customer relations.

The ideal candidate must be able to work in a dynamic environment and can effectively perform operational tasks in addition to implement projects.  This is a professional level in the IT professional management IT series and will be expected to act in a supervisory role over Sr. System Application Programmers and System Application Programmers.

• Administering business and data systems that support regulatory processes through to field staff, preferably including Building, Planning, and Code Enforcement (PBCE) business processes inside a large municipality.

The Development Services Solutions team is responsible for several Off-The-Shelf (OTS) and custom systems and applications that support daily operations of the Planning, Building, Code Enforcement department and the Development Services process at the City of San Jose. The Information Technology Department’s Development Services Solutions team is seeking for two qualified candidates to fill the Senior Applications Developer positions to support the development and maintenance of the above systems and applications as well as to assist with emerging needs around data analysis, data extraction, data mapping, and reporting functions associated with the above systems and business requirements. The ideal candidate should have technical experience in at least one or more items in each of the following four skills groups: 

1.    Systems: Granicus AMANDA, SAP Crystal Reports, Yellowfin and/or Power BI, Enterprise Content Management, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) such as Mule ESB, and/or Case Management/Tracking systems.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

·        Developing new or customizing existing systems and applications using PL/SQL, SQL, Java, Visual Basic, JavaScript, ASP, and/or HTML/CSS using Agile development practices.

·        Documenting defects and feature enhancements

·        Gathering reporting requirements, conducting data analysis and creating reports using Yellowfin, Crystal Reports and Power BI.

·         Maintaining and upgrading existing systems and applications.

·         Providing end-user training and support.

·         Preparing and updating end-user and technical documentation.

·         Mentoring team members and reviewing code.
