THE POSITION

Police Officers are responsible for performing a wide variety of law enforcement duties involving the prevention of crime, protection of life and property, and the enforcement of laws and ordinances; control traffic flow and enforce state and local regulations; perform investigative work and other related police work assignments. The Position: This is the non-sworn, trainee-level class in the Police Officer series. Incumbents earn an hourly wage while attending a basic POST certified training academy to obtain the basic skills and fitness level necessary for performance of Police Officer duties. Employment in this classification is contingent upon maintaining enrollment in a POST approved academy for which they are enrolled.
