Experienced and passionate music teachers are needed to teach music lessons to various ages on various instruments. Must be able to teach participants how to play various instruments at various individualized levels.

Community Outreach Communications Project Plan 

The Community Outreach team is seeking a summer intern for a 10–12-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to gain valuable experience capturing and creating content, assisting throughout the district.  

Key duties 

• Visit Summer Programs to Capture Video and Photo content 

• Draft Program Highlight and Promotional Social Posts 

• Edit Community Facing District-Wide Videos 

• Assist with District-Wide Communications including Email Newsletters, Website, and social media. 

Key deliverables will be: 

• Create two to three 30 second videos highlighting LARPD’s impact on the community. 

• Update District Parks and Facilities Guide for Website  

• Capturing photo/video content from summer programs 

What learning will occur for the intern? 

• Learn to effectively communicate the LARPD brand identity across various channels, including social media, website, and content creation, by maintaining consistency in voice, tone, and messaging. 

• Gain hands-on experience in managing social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, Instagram) by creating engaging content, scheduling posts, monitoring audience engagement, and analyzing performance metrics to optimize strategies.

• Maintain volunteer hour tracking and create end of summer recap report.

• Create and distribute volunteer completion certification with hours totals for all summer volunteers. 

• Report any concerns from staff and volunteers or development opportunities for volunteers through regular check-ins.

Community Services Intern Project Plan

The Community Services team is seeking a summer intern for a 7-10-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to allow a student to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced youth development and recreation staff and assisting in promoting a safe, healthy environment within the camp setting by providing emotional support to the participants. 

Key duties

• Provides guidance, support, and assistance to staff throughout the week, which includes managing camper behavior issues, stress, and personal care needs
• Process critical incidents with supervisory staff.
• Participate in the intern group project.
• Provide support and be a role model to all participants.

Key deliverables will be:

• A training plan for camp staff to better understand best practices in working with children with special needs.
• Protocols to be followed when a situation arises with a child and what steps to take
• A template to be used for a behavior plan to include goals and actions. 

What learning will occur for the intern?

• Working in a recreation setting for a special district
• Being part of a strong staff team
• The creation of action plans to be used in a camp setting
• Communication with staff, participants, and parents

Timing

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Facility duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Unlock and lock buildings for renters and programs.
• Be present and assist renters during events.
• Set up and breakdown tables and chairs for rentals and program classes.
• Maintain and keep facilities clean during and after events.
• Move furniture/equipment and return to appropriate storage areas after events.
• Assist renters with facility equipment usage.
• Clean sinks, counters, mirrors, stalls, floors, restrooms, and garbage disposal before and after rentals and program classes to ensure facilities are clean inside and outside.
• Performs duties within OSHA standards.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

The Position and Responsibilties

As a member of the Public Works, Engineering Division, in the Development Section, the Engineering Technician I/II will perform a wide variety of support functions to assist with customer service, development review and permitting.

Examples of Job Duties

General Duties for both the Technician I and II in all assignments:

• Operates a variety of office machines, calculators, personal computers and a variety of software applications.
• Makes initial review of project submittals and RFI's and routes correctly.
• Under the direction of a registered engineer, prepares manually or through CAD diagrams for field design changes.

Engineering Technician I (Development Section)

• Reviews and issues encroachment permits for work in the public right-of-way to residents, private utility companies including but not limited to PG&E, AT&T, Comcast, Alameda County Water District (ACWD) and Union Sanitary District (USD).
• Assists the Project Engineer in the review of private development applications from planning entitlement phase, to issuance of building permits, to approval of final/parcel maps and construction of any public improvements required to support the proposed development.
• Provides customer service at the Development Service Center related to private development applications and requirements for issuance of encroachment permits.

Engineering Technician II (Development Section)

In addition to the duties listed above for Engineering Technician I:

• Participates in the review and recommendation process for more complex encroachment and grading permits.
