The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the Finance team, ensuring the City’s payroll operations meet all federal and state tax filing requirements and will be adept at managing tax withholdings, filings, and reporting. Duties include the processing and maintenance of the City's payroll, maintenance of employee payroll and leave records, preparing payroll reports, providing information to employees, and performing other related tasks to support the Finance Department.

In conjunction with the Two-County (San Mateo and Santa Clara) Regional Internship Program, the City of South San Francisco offers paid summer internship opportunities for current undergraduate and graduate college students who are interested in contributing to the community. An internship with the City of South San Francisco offers valuable, real-world job experience in a local government setting. Through this internship, you will gain exposure to a wide variety of programs and services, while enhancing and sharpening your writing, presentation, research, analysis, and critical thinking skills. As part of the Two-County Regional Internship Program, this experience will also be supplemented with learning forums and access to professionals in your interested field.

These paid positions are part-time and do not include benefits. The intern position is a temporary assignment for summer 2024. Interns receive direction and guidance from a supervisor who is traditionally part of the management staff.

Project Description

Under supervision, the History Room Intern will assist with archival projects at the City of South San Francisco Public Library. Interns may assist with collection processing, creating metadata, describing public events, and social media and/or other outreach initiatives. The intern will gain an on-the-job understanding of archival standards and best practices and learn how to use the ArchivesSpace content management system and other technologies. They will also gain experience working with a variety of archival materials. In addition to archival projects, the intern will help plan, coordinate, and host one public event and create a public display showcasing archival material. The internship helps develop the intern’s communication, research, information management, and problem-solving skills.

Project Outcomes

The History Room Intern will learn how to process and describe collections and materials housed in the Library’s History Room.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the  flexibly staffed position of Elections Clerk I-II in the Elections Division within the Clerk-Recorder’s Office for both Extra Help and Full Time positions. This position reports directly to the Registrar of Voters Manager. This class is flexibly staffed, and incumbents may advance to the II-level after gaining experience, demonstrating proficiency, and meeting the qualifications. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn state and federal laws, rules and regulations related to conducting elections as well as County policies and procedures. As experience is gained, assignments become more complex and are performed under more general supervision. Representative Duties

1.      Perform a variety of professional accounting functions supporting City-wide operations; maintain accuracy of general, revenue, and expenditure ledgers and subsidiary financial systems.

2.      Reconcile financial ledgers and records; prepare financial statements and reports, general and subsidiary ledgers and supporting schedules; research and resolve discrepancies.

3.      Review and audit all accounts payable, purchase orders, cash receipts, business licenses, payroll, utility billing, and other accounting records and transactions; ensure money is posted to correct accounts and that all accounts balance.

4.      Provide assistance in the development of the annual budget; assist in the review and validation of the annual City budget; create a variety of spreadsheets, documents, and graphs; assist in preparing the final budget document for approval by City Council.

5.      Prepare bank reconciliations and related journal entries for a variety of accounts.

6.      Prepare a variety of monthly, periodic, and annual financial and statistical reports and account summaries; prepare treasurer reports; prepare and file annual State Controllers Report.

7.      Assist in preparation of year end closings and accompanying financial reports.

8.      Perform grant accounting work related to federal, state or grant agency funding; maintain records for audit purposes.

9.      Maintain and track fixed asset inventory control records for the City.

10.   Participate in the year-end audit; compile and prepare supporting schedules, work papers, and financial reports as requested by auditors.

11.   Prepare property tax remittances for payment.

THE POSITION: 

The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Community Services Coordinator I/II position to plan, organize, and direct services and programs within the Community Services Department for our senior population, volunteer programs and city-wide special events. Our senior programs provide opportunities for adults 50 years of age and older, to engage in active and healthy programming. The Church Lane Senior Center hosts a congregate lunch program, numerous senior focused special events, weekday door-to-door transportation service (managed by a different full-time coordinator) and drop- in programs and classes. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of Regulatory Compliance and Policy and will provide technical analysis, identify and evaluate the potential business impacts to SJCE from proposed regulatory and legislative changes and provide expert public representation of SJCE. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience in working for, or on proceedings/initiatives from, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and/or the California Independent System Operator (CAISO).

The Senior Power Resources Specialist will be responsible for overseeing a variety of regulatory compliance filings, engaging in complex electric regulatory proceedings, collaborating closely with external partners, and/or effectively advocating for SJCE's interests at the CPUC, the CEC, and/or the CAISO.

Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

• Develop and submit timely and accurate regulatory compliance filings with public agencies.

• Keep abreast of key California regulatory issues affecting SJCE by attending conferences, fostering internal and external relationships, and following industry developments.
