The Budget Analyst position in the City Manager’s Office is responsible for operating and/or capital budgetary analysis assignments for a City Service Area (CSA) and several City departments, including assisting their assigned CSA/departments in the development of their operating/capital budgets; analysis of revenue and expenditure projections; coordination and presentation of budget information to the City Manager as appropriate; preparation of the City's annual Operating and/or Capital Budgets, Annual Report, Mid-Year Budget Review, and Fees and Charges Report; review of budget-related departmental requests; collaboration with departments to resolve budgetary issues; review of City Council memoranda for budget implications and appropriate budget language, if necessary; conducting research on budget and policy-related matters; and special projects as assigned. During critical times of the year this position will be expected to work overtime, both weeknights and weekends, for the preparation and release of several key budget documents.

Watershed Protection Division’s Stormwater Management Group – Trash Load Reduction Team
 
The Trash Load Reduction Team is responsible for coordinating, supporting, reporting, and implementing the Trash Load Reduction C.10 provision of the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Stormwater Permit (Permit). This position coordinates the implementation of projects in collaboration with other City departments and external partners. Key projects of the Trash Team include trash capture projects, the Direct Discharge Trash Control Program, creek assessments, cleanup coordination, grant and contract management, and reporting. 
 
Watershed Protection Division’s Stormwater Management Group – Monitoring and Pollutants of Concern Team
 
The Monitoring and Pollutants of Concern (MPC) Team focuses on reducing pollutants to storm drains from routine municipal operations; implementing control methods for pollutants of concern, such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), mercury, trash, pesticides, etc.; and assessing exempted and conditionally exempted non-stormwater discharges. The MPC Team works collaboratively with internal and external partners to address these regulatory requirements, and team members frequently support one another in various stormwater management activities to ensure compliance with the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Stormwater Permit.
 
Integrated Waste Management Division’s Residential Services Team
 
Residential Services oversees San José’s Residential Garbage and Recycling Program, which provides curbside garbage and recycling, yard trimmings, garbage processing, household hazardous waste drop offs, and junk pick up to approximately 331,000 households and over 140 City facilities through four contracted service providers with an annual budget in excess of $150 million. This ESS helps co-manage contractor agreements, perform data management and analysis for reports and presentations, and implement Senate Bill 1383 requirements and other state and local solid waste regulations.
 
Responsibilities include:
• Monitoring and evaluating contractor operations and performance to continuously improve service delivery and provide excellent customer service
• Providing public education and environmental advocacy

Sustainability and Compliance Division’s Sustainability & Policy Team 
The Sustainability and Policy team implements initiatives that support vital utilities for the community. This position assists the Energy and Water Building Performance Ordinance (BPO), which requires owners of large buildings in San José to benchmark energy and water use and make improvements if standards are not met. BPO staff annually assists more than 2,000 local building’ owners with compliance. Responsibilities include:
• Maintaining databases, noticing, and providing customer service for benchmarking and invoicing compliance
• Conducting data quality control, data analysis and visualization to prepare technical reports and presentations

Sustainability and Compliance Division’s Municipal Environmental Compliance Group
 
The Municipal Environmental Compliance group provides technical support in the assessment, investigation, and cleanup of environmentally impaired or potentially impaired City properties/projects. Projects include fuel leak investigations, closed landfill compliance, and property acquisition investigations.
 
Responsibilities include:
• Performing Phase I Environmental site assessments and technical report writing
• Soil and groundwater sampling and field inspections.

Salary Information
The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Environmental Services Specialist Series classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay. 

The annual salary range for the positions are presently as follows:
Assistant Environmental Services Specialist: $75,260.64 – $91,465.92
Associate Environmental Services Specialist: $87,207.12 – $105,967.68
Environmental Services Specialist: $96,139.68 – $116,844.00

Please note that the above salary ranges are inclusive of the five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

Latent Fingerprint Examiner I Salary Range: $75,774.40 - $92,102.40

The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) is recruiting for a Latent Fingerprint Examiner I.   Under general direction, performs technical level work of unusual difficulty in fingerprint examination for criminal identification and evidence classification.

Typical duties as a Latent Fingerprint Examiner I may include, but not limited to:

- Collects, develops, evaluates, compares, and identifies latent fingerprints or other impression evidence found at major crime scenes or submitted to the unit, including whole, partial fragmentary, or distorted latent finger and palm prints.

- Operates computers and computer-related equipment associated with automated fingerprint identification systems.

- Provides expert testimony, methodology, and identification in all aspects of latent print processing in court and formal hearings.

- Uses fingerprint comparators, magnifiers, ridge counters and other technical and scientific equipment for observing and comparing latent prints.

- Maintains communications with Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies and identification units.

The Airport Department is currently recruiting to fill a Maintenance Worker II vacancy within the Maintenance Services Section. The Airport Maintenance Services Section is responsible for the maintenance, repair and improvements to Airport building facilities and properties on a seven day a week, twenty-four hour a day operation schedule. The Maintenance Worker II position at Mineta San José International Airport may lead a crew and/or performs skilled and semi-skilled work in public facilities and airfield maintenance. 

Typical duties for this position include, but are but are not limited to: 

- Maintaining a large area campus, including repair of asphalt and landscape care. 

- Repairing roadways, sewers, and landscape care (mowing, edging, tree care) 

- General carpentry and door hardware 

- General interior plumbing (various pipes & fittings, restroom fixtures) 

- General building construction maintenance and repair (flooring, drywall, tile, etc) 

- Safe operation of motor vehicles and equipment and knowledge of safety practices and procedures used in repair and maintenance of roadways and ground areas of large campuses.

Mineta San José International Airport is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Assistant.

The Maintenance Assistant position is responsible for raking leaves and debris, digging post holes, trimming hedges and trees, as well as cleaning large areas that contain debris, weeds, abandoned materials, catch basins and gutters. The Maintenance Assistant will also be required to safely operate pressure washers, scrubbers, sweepers, pick-up trucks, as well as tractors with flail mower attachments. Other responsibilities include assisting with forming, pouring and finishing of new concrete surfaces, and working on landscape projects near roadways, which may involve proper set-up of roadway markings and traffic control. In addition, this position will be responsible for planting ground covers, flowers, plants and trees, using a variety of soil amendments and fertilizers. The use of power hand tools for the maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures, doors, roofs, sanitary sewer line cleaning, changing lamps, emptying trash and picking up trash/debris in assigned areas will also be required.

Other duties may include:

- Digs holes, trenches, and ditches using picks, shovels, jack hammers, spades, cultivating forks, post hole diggers and other tools; loads, unloads, shovels, and rakes sand, gravel, dirt, fertilizer, loam, asphalt, and other materials.

- Participates in the repair of sewer lines, checking of sanitary sewers, laying of sewer pipes, and installation of sewer connections.

- Performs labor in the planting, cultivating, trimming, removing, watering, and spraying of lawns, plants and other vegetation.

- Mows and trims lawns, rakes leaves, hoes weeds, clears paths and trails, empties trash containers, cleans equipment, structures, and facilities, such as courts, swimming pools, park grounds, restrooms and work areas.

- Performs labor in the erecting of tree supports

- Sets up cones and barricades for traffic and safety control, may perform as a flag person.

- Lifts heavy weights.

- Operates small dump trucks, light flatbed trucks, portable cement mixers, small sweepers and other equipment.

- Uses tools such as air spades, tampers, picks, shovels, hoes, rakes, pruning shears, rototillers, trimmers, shears, edgers, loppers, pruners and other items.

- Uses general carpentry, mechanical and hand tools, such as saws, drills, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, ladders and other tools.

- Is responsible for safe operation of equipment and tools.

- Is responsible for vehicle and pedestrian traffic safety in work areas.

The Office of Racial Equity is hiring an Assistant to the City Manager position to serve as the Inclusion and Belonging Manager for the City of San José.

Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.

1. Patrols the City in a radio car and on foot
2. Answers calls for protection of life and private property and the enforcement of City, County, and State laws
3. Participates in criminal investigations
4. Interviews victims, complainants and witnesses
5. Conducts physical arrests of criminal suspects

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

EXPERIENCE:

• Patrol and/or investigative experience with a law enforcement agency is required 
  • Patrol and/or investigative experience with a California law enforcement agency is highly desirable
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship
• Must be able to successfully complete a 1.5 mile run in 14 minutes or fewer
• Knowledge of law enforcement terminology and Police Officer procedures is desirable

EDUCATION:

• Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required
• An Associate Degree or completion of sixty (60) semester units of college level courses is highly desirable 

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

• Must possess a valid California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
• Must possess a POST Basic Certificate
  • This certificate is awarded to currently full-time peace officers of a POST-participating agency who have satisfactorily completed the prerequisite Basic Course requirement and the employing agency’s probationary period

RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
The recruitment will remain open until the position is filled. Prior to hire, candidates will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment process, including a Live Scan background investigation. A conviction history will not necessarily disqualify an applicant from appointment; however, failure to disclose a conviction will result in disqualification or termination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Requires work, which may be strenuous and hazardous; includes working rotating shifts, as well as weekends and holidays.
