THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Fire Department is seeking customer service and public safety focused individuals to join the wildfire mitigation team. Under supervision, inspectors will perform a variety of wildfire prevention duties with a focus on one-on-one education via property wildfire risk evaluations.  The Inspector’s efforts will support resident compliance with City and State Fire codes.

The customer-service oriented positions will support the City’s and Marin Wildfire Fire Prevention Authorities (MWPA)’s goals. The ideal candidate will be able to connect and inspire individual action among our diverse community by explaining complex concepts in easy-to-understand ways.  Inspectors will utilize tablets and other technology to document findings and interactions in the field.

Our highly qualified candidate will be able to work effectively in small teams or independently and clearly communicate wildfire safety-related information to residents from various backgrounds.  We are looking for people who have sound judgment and can communicate effectively with others.  They will need to be able to follow both verbal and written instructions, engage effectively with the public and work harmoniously with our team. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to the following):    

• Perform defensible space inspections and wildfire risk evaluations in accordance with San Rafael Municipal Code 4.12.
• Investigates public and referred public agency complaints.
• Provide guidance to residents on suggested and required home hardening and defensible space strategies. 
• Provide residents with appropriate support resources and programs.
• Increase awareness, knowledge and actions implemented by individuals and communities to reduce human loss and property damage from wildfires.
• Collects, enters, maintains, and disseminates data pertaining to fire prevention; reconciles reports, files and records.
• Composes letters and reports based on field notes.
• Collect and input data and images into electronic devices.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Communicate clearly and respectfully to residents and stakeholders.
• Learn and apply City and State Fire Codes and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
• Provide clear and concise written reports free of grammar and spelling errors.
• Utilize personal computers, tablets, and related software including the Microsoft Office Suite, mapping, and database tools.
• Independently conduct fire (defensible space) inspections.
• Apply technical knowledge and follow proper inspection techniques.
• Be self-motivated, work independently to complete assigned duties and responsibilities in a timely manner.
• Interpret and explain fire prevention services, policies and procedures.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with stake holders to ensure that assigned fire prevention coordination efforts are successful.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

• In accordance with State legal requirements, applicants must be at least 18 years old by the application filing deadline.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent and any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities in qualifying.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.

THE POSITION: 

The City of Hayward is excited to announce its recruitment for the position of Mobile Mental Health Clinician. Under general direction, the Mobile Mental Health Clinician provides field and office based professional behavioral health counseling, psychoeducation, outreach and engagement, and case management services as part of the City’s Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) Program improving public safety responses to people experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders and homelessness.

THE PROGRAM

The Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) Program is a cross departmental program between the Hayward City Manager’s Office, Police, and Fire Departments and Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services developed to improve access to medical, mental health, and other support services.  The HEART program aims to achieve two main goals: 1) to reduce the need for police officers to intervene in calls for service involving people experiencing chronic mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness and 2) to reduce reliance on emergency services for individuals needing long-term case management and follow-up services.  HEART consists of three distinct response teams: the Mobile Integrated Health Unit (MIHU) made up of Hayward Fire Department Community Paramedics; the Hayward Mobile Evaluation Team (HMET) which pairs a specially trained Hayward Police Officer with an Alameda County behavioral health clinician; and the Case Management and Mental Health Linkages Team (LINK) consisting of Mobile Mental Health Clinicians and a Lead Program Assistant (Case Manager).

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

 As a member of the LINK team, the ideal candidate has experience providing short term crisis intervention, safety assessments, and other mental health services to adults, youth and children experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders and/or homelessness.  They have the ability to work primarily in the field and have the situational awareness to respond alongside emergency response teams. They are knowledgeable about local community resources and skilled at forming relationships quickly.

License & Certificates:  Possession of a valid professional mental health therapy license issued by the State of California, such as Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Associate Social Worker License (ASW), Intern Marriage Family Therapist (IMFT) or Clinical Psychologist or a closely related field is highly desirable.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for a special individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Children’s Outpatient (COP) Department. The Clinical Therapist I/II provides behavioral health clinical intervention and recovery services to assigned clients and their families; develops treatment plans and performs individual, group, and family psychotherapeutic counseling, routine and emergency assessment, crisis intervention, and related treatment services; manages an assigned caseload of adults, juveniles, and/or children; provides consultation to other staff, programs, and agencies related to treatment needs and plans; and performs related duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Provides individual, group, and family interventions, rehabilitation, and treatment services including counseling, therapy, case management, and referral and linkage to community services to a variety of clients including high acuity clients.

• Within scope of authority, assesses, diagnoses, and treats a variety of clients with mental health disorders; collaborates with clients and creates individualized treatments plans according to client’s needs and circumstances.

• Initiates and conducts individual, group, and family counseling and biopsychosocial therapy sessions utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities; provides case management services in the office and in the field.

• Performs routine and emergency intake evaluations according to Authority procedure; completes appropriate forms and documents relating to the intake process; and prepares medical and demographic case history for use in diagnosis.

• Assists clients and family members in understanding behavioral health diagnosis, contributing factors/causes, effects, prognosis, rehabilitation, and treatment.

• Works with clients to address stressors and barriers to treatment and/or social functioning; identifies and focuses on client strengths and personal resources to effectively engage and treat client.

The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships, engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving, and leveraging financial and volunteer resources. The Department’s nationally and internationally recognized programs support thousands of residents throughout their life course, from infants to elders. The department offers a working environment which is friendly, supportive, collegial, and where staff of many disciplines come together to problem solve, compassionately assist those in need, and share successes.

The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community. With input from local, older adults (age 55 years+) as our guide, the AFS team strives to provide and AFS staff work together to provide a continuum of supportive services that range from health promotion activities to home-based end of life care. AFS has a Senior InfoLine (phone and email) that is answered in 4 language (Farsi, English, Spanish and Chinese) that is often an entry point. As an older adult or their caregiver’s situation changes, they seamlessly have access to a continuum of programs that include counseling and emotional support; care coordination and resource assistance; specialized family caregiver support and education. Many of these supportive services are provided in the resident’s home. We also provide regular expert clinical consultation, supervision, opportunities for self-reflection, and team building, fostering a culture of empathy, inclusivity, humility, and respect.

The Position

Under the supervision of the Age Well Center Managers, the Chef/Food Services Manager position manages meal programs for the City of Fremont’s Age Well Centers. Chef responsibilities across both Age Well Center locations include the performance of menu planning, purchasing of foodstuffs, preparing quantity meals, supervising and assisting kitchen employees and volunteers and maintaining clean and orderly kitchens.

The incumbent will be responsible for properly cooked, economical, and wholesome, well balanced meals in City operated Age Well Centers. This position is not limited to being responsible for the assignment of work, supervision and evaluation of paid and volunteer food service workers. The review and approval of proposed menus, food purchases, control and monitoring of expenditure rates; and institution of disciplinary actions are functions reserved for the Program Coordinator or Age Well Center Managers.

Examples of Duties

• Plan menus with consideration for the dietary needs of older adults, wholesomeness, quantity of food to be prepared and budgetary constraints.
• Estimate food requirements and requisitions for food and supplies.
• Prepare, cook, and serve a wide variety of foodstuffs for quantity food service.
• May cut/carve and cook meats; bake breads, cakes and pastries; peel and prepare vegetables; and make salads.
• Place food in serving containers and serves food.
• Maintain proper temperature, rotation and storage of food.
• Direct and assist in cleaning kitchens and kitchen equipment after each meal.
• Estimate food requirements and requisitions for food and supplies.
• Direct and assist in the cleaning of the kitchen and kitchen equipment after each meal.
• Oversee that the kitchen and equipment are kept clean, sanitary and in proper working condition. Schedule regular maintenance of kitchen equipment as needed. Maintain standards of safety and sanitation in kitchen area.
• Recruit, train, supervise, instruct, and direct employees and volunteers assigned to working in the kitchens.
• Develop and support additional meal programs, including, but not limited to fundraisers, catering events and cooking demonstrations and special events.
• Keep records and prepare reports as required. Inclusive of any certification requirements and/or medical clearances required of subordinate employees and volunteers.
• Oversee community garden program, including crop rotation, seasonal planting, and maintenance assignment.
• Coordinate with office staff, marketing and sales strategies to increase visibility and participation for meal programs.
