The City of Sausalito is seeking a dynamic and innovative team player for the position of Librarian II at the Sausalito Public Library. Under general direction from the City Librarian, the Librarian II will support all programs and/or functional areas in the City Library, including identifying current and projecting future community needs and providing leadership to initiatives to improve library services.

The responsibilities assigned to the Librarian II will be primarily oriented towards services to children and young adults, including providing direct support to children attending the schools of the Sausalito Marin City School District and their teachers.

 THE POSITION  

The Community Development and Transportation Department (CDT) is seeking a value-driven team player to fill the position of Planning Intern. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic college level student seeking broad experience within a dynamic City Planning Division. The Planning Division of the Community Development and Transportation Department administers City Council policies contained in the General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and other plans and ordinances. About the Position: The Planning Department is seeking two interns who are interested in learning about open space conservation and planning for ecologically sensitive recreation. Their responsibilities may include researching and compiling project information, supporting with community and stakeholder engagement, assisting with environmental review and documentation, researching new programs and initiatives, conducting field surveys and data collection, and using computer-based systems such as GIS, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator for analysis of data and preparation of documents regarding Midpen lands and facilities. The interns will work as a team and individually on assignments, including opportunities for field work to gain experience in data collection techniques and tools and on-the-job training in planning research, analysis, and written communication.  The expected start date for the interns is on or after July 8, 2024. We have limited flexibility to change the start date.

Basic Requirements: Internships are open to applications from current students or recent graduates (within the last 12 months). Successful candidates will have a background in the natural sciences, park/open space management, land use/environmental planning, GIS/geography, biology, ecology, or another related field; and experience with field data collection techniques. This internship requires strong organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and with a team. Experience with MS Outlook, MS Word and Excel, ArcGIS software, GPS equipment, Microsoft Excel, and Apple iPads is desired, and familiarity with Midpen preserves/trails as well as local flora, fauna, and natural history are a plus.   Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver’s license is required. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions: This position will report to the Planning Department at the Administrative Office in Los Altos, California.  Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work environment for this position, which will be divided between onsite work, field visits, and limited home office work.  Fieldwork is conducted in rural or mountainous Midpen open space areas, which may involve working alone or with another intern in wildland areas, traversing rough difficult terrain sometimes with poison oak and dense vegetation, and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. This is a temporary position working 20 – 40 hours per week, which will extend up to a total of 950 hours over a 6-9 month period. This is a non-benefited position.

Substitute Librarians perform professional-level library public service work, including answering reference questions, providing readers’ advisory, providing technical assistance, and presenting programs (as needed).

Substitute Library Assistants perform circulation tasks such as checking materials in and out, and work at the public service desk, assisting patrons with basic requests including answering simple questions, creating new patron accounts, and referring patrons to other staff for more complex questions.

• Knowledge of Library Services and reference materials; readers advisory; professional practices and techniques of library science; and on-line library systems and information resources.

The Air Conditioning Mechanic position is responsible for performing HVAC duties at more than 200 civic building sites across San Jose. The position will be responsible for performing the operational support, adjustment, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance of heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems and auxiliary equipment.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Repair of Rooftop package units, Air Handlers and split systems.
• Inspecting, repairing, performing preventative maintenance and routine testing of heating, cooling, air-conditioning, ventilating equipment and controls; and chiller and low pressure boiler maintenance.

THE POSITION: 

The City of Hayward is excited to announce its recruitment for the position of Mobile Mental Health Clinician. Under general direction, the Mobile Mental Health Clinician provides field and office based professional behavioral health counseling, psychoeducation, outreach and engagement, and case management services as part of the City’s Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) Program improving public safety responses to people experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders and homelessness.

THE PROGRAM

The Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) Program is a cross departmental program between the Hayward City Manager’s Office, Police, and Fire Departments and Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services developed to improve access to medical, mental health, and other support services.  The HEART program aims to achieve two main goals: 1) to reduce the need for police officers to intervene in calls for service involving people experiencing chronic mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness and 2) to reduce reliance on emergency services for individuals needing long-term case management and follow-up services.  HEART consists of three distinct response teams: the Mobile Integrated Health Unit (MIHU) made up of Hayward Fire Department Community Paramedics; the Hayward Mobile Evaluation Team (HMET) which pairs a specially trained Hayward Police Officer with an Alameda County behavioral health clinician; and the Case Management and Mental Health Linkages Team (LINK) consisting of Mobile Mental Health Clinicians and a Lead Program Assistant (Case Manager).

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

 As a member of the LINK team, the ideal candidate has experience providing short term crisis intervention, safety assessments, and other mental health services to adults, youth and children experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders and/or homelessness.  They have the ability to work primarily in the field and have the situational awareness to respond alongside emergency response teams. They are knowledgeable about local community resources and skilled at forming relationships quickly.  
  

Essential Duties

What you will do:

Provides direct casework, individual and group therapy; secures and evaluates medical or psychosocial data such as behavior patterns, use of coping skills and family relationships; analyzes factors which exert an adverse effect upon health issues, treatment and recovery which contribute to or are responsible for behavioral health issues and/or affect the potential for recovery and resiliency. 

Performs field work to proactively serve the unhoused population, persons with mental illness and others in crisis.
 
 Interprets the social aspects of physical or behavioral health issues to clients, relatives, other behavioral health and medical care staff and appropriate persons or agencies.
 
 Provides crisis intervention as needed; stabilizes clients in crisis including brief intervention in clinic; arranges for hospitalization and coordinates treatment elements.
 
Assists clients in understanding clinical health challenges and their reaction to them, accepting the need for treatment, building on strengths and working toward the solution of challenges and stresses the importance of engaging in treatment to increase social functioning, modifying unrealistic attitudes, and strengthening client's effort toward satisfactory adjustments.
 
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with contractors and community organizations and other governmental agencies regarding programs and services; participates in committees, meetings and conferences; provides guidance regarding appropriate social-psychological practices and services.
 
Compiles and prepares reports and documentation on clinical activities; maintains records; prepares periodic reports.
 

Identifies emerging trends related to crimes and issues; develops and implements prevention and intervention program approaches; provides community education on current procedures and practices related to mental health and intervention strategies.
 
Serves as a liaison with law enforcement, school officials, social service agencies, and the general public regarding difficult and/or complex situations related to mental health and social services.
 
Provides support and guidance to Fire and Police First Responders concerning victim advocacy, juvenile and adult crime, domestic violence, chemical dependency, and other services as needed.

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
 

Experience:  Two (2) years’ experience working in the social work or counseling field with strong emphasis on social services, resources and referrals using a collaborative and community framework.

Education:  A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field.

License & Certificates:  Possession of a valid professional mental health therapy license issued by the State of California, such as Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Associate Social Worker License (ASW), Intern Marriage Family Therapist (IMFT) or Clinical Psychologist or a closely related field is highly desirable.

Possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver's License.
