A Dispatcher II is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dixon Police Department is opening two positions for a Police Recruit to attend the Police Academy in July of 2024. The “Police Recruit” classification at the City of Dixon Police Department provides a unique opportunity for candidates to be sponsored through a P.O.S.T. certified basic academy during regular academy hours and any other scheduled departmental and academy exercise and activities. Under general supervision of the Senior Public Safety Dispatcher, processes emergency and non-emergency calls for service; dispatches police, fire, medical, rescue, animal control or other emergency equipment, by telephone or radio, utilizing complex technical aids, such as computer aided dispatch systems (CAD); and performs related work as required.
The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is committed to increasing the City’s capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters. The position is part of the City Manager’s Office and works closely with the Assistant City Manager, Deputy City Manager, and Public Engagement Manager, as well as the Police Chief and other Police personnel, and key staff across other departments such as Public Works and Library and Community Services.
