Under the leadership and direction of the Deputy Director of the Planning and Development Division for the Airport, the Senior Engineer position is a strategic leader that leads a wide range of professional and para-professional team members who perform a variety of multi-disciplinary Airport projects in the development, management, and delivery of projects in the Airport Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and the Airport Master Plan Program of various and considerable complexities. The Senior Engineer must possess in depth knowledge and expertise in the theories, principles, practices, and techniques related to civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and/or geotechnical engineering, architecture, and capital project delivery. Demonstrated experience in airport construction projects which provides innovative solutions for complex challenges is expected. In addition, the position will ensure program compliance with Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, Customs and Border Protection, and other agencies that may have impacts and jurisdictions to the projects. ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting an undergraduate or graduate-level City Administration College Intern for the summer of 2024. This internship will provide a significant opportunity to gain experience and exposure and accumulate skills that are used daily in various city government programs that make substantial impacts to the community. VOLUNTEER WORK SCHEDULE

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Perform a full range of professional level engineering duties in support of the City’s public works engineering projects, services, and activities including design and construction programs for City streets, storm drains, sewer lines, traffic, and related capital improvement programs.
• Perform plan check, review, and processing of plans for projects affecting City streets, sewers, drains, and related public works facilities; review engineering design and construction plans, drawings, specifications, contract documents, cost estimates, engineering calculations, and related documents prepared by consulting engineers and contractors for compliance with professional and City standards and practices; coordinate reviews with other departments and agencies.
• Prepare designs and specifications for assigned projects; develop engineering drawings, construction plans, specifications, contract documents, bid documents, calculations, and cost estimates for proposed projects; research project design requirements; prepare estimates of time and material costs.

The City of Sunnyvale is recruiting for one Environmental Engineering Coordinator - Solid Waste position for the Environmental Services Department. The department provides comprehensive and innovative utility services for Sunnyvale's residents and businesses and facilitates initiatives to achieve the City's sustainability objectives. The department brings together technical, operational, and administrative professional disciplines to form its dedicated and dynamic team. 

For the Solid Waste Division, we are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and creative individual with strong quantitative and analytical skills, impeccable written and verbal communication skills, and a solid understanding of environmental science and policies to manage Sunnyvale’s closed landfill.

This position works with environmental consultants and contractors, a diverse team of City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant operations and maintenance staff, and regulators including the Water Board, CalRecycle and the Air District to ensure closed landfills and compliance with solid waste, air and water quality regulations.

We are looking for an ideal candidate who can ensures compliance with applicable Permit requirements; reviews, analyzes, and interprets operational and monitoring data; and prepares technical memoranda and reports; has experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions related to various aspects of postclosure maintenance of the landfill and performs related work as required.

Candidate’s experience in reviewing plans and specifications of public and private projects proposed on or near the landfill for potential impacts, informing developers/designers of impacts of landfill-related regulations and proposes necessary changes to projects is highly desirable.
