DEFINITION: Under general supervision the aide assists in planning, organizing, and implementing preschool programming for children ages 3-5 years old. Program hours are M-F PM 8:30am – 1:00pm and/or MWF 8:30am - 1:00pm. Approximately 15 – 30 hours a week. Substitute and floating positions also available 8:30am - 1:00pm.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Assists in the development, coordination, planning, implementing and supervising the day-to-day activities, themes and special events for an ongoing preschool program.
- Create and maintain a safe, challenging and creative environment.
- Supervise and engage preschool students during preschool hours.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively with co-workers, parents, and children.
- Maintain registration, attendance, and activity records; ensure the proper pick-up/drop-off of children.
- Encourage good behavior, appropriate manners, read books and provide a safe and nurturing environment.
- Implement and lead appropriate activities for preschool-aged children.
- Possess strong leadership skills in one or more of the following areas: art, crafts, sports, drama, cooking.
- Motivate children by example; create and maintain a positive environment.
- Must be a team player and have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Practice proper hygiene, with self and children, to deter the spread of disease (colds, flu, etc).
- Render first aid in case of minor injuries.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- The ability to speak English clearly and understandably.
- Perform related duties as required.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training, and experience, which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. Candidate must provide a TB negative test result document. Candidates must possess a current CPR/AED and First Aid certificate and be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency.
