THE POSITION

The Police Captain is an at-will position and serves at the pleasure of the City Manager. Under the general direction of the Police Chief, the Police Captain plans, directs, manages, and coordinates the personnel and activities of a major division within the Police Department; assists in the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; coordinates assigned activities with other City departments, divisions, and outside agencies; serves as Acting Chief in the Police Chief's absence; provides responsible administrative support to the Police Chief; and performs related duties as assigned. Examples of duties are:

• Plans, directs, manages, coordinates, and evaluates the work of a major division of the Police Department, which may include field operations, investigations, communications, public services and programs, and administration; develops, recommends, and administers policies and procedures.
• Develops and directs the implementation of division goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; establishes, within City policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; allocates resources accordingly.
• Continuously monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assesses and monitors workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identifies opportunities for improvement; directs the implementation of changes.
• Represents the Police Department to other City departments, elected officials, and outside agencies; explains, justifies, and supports Police Department programs, policies, and activities; negotiates and resolves sensitive, significant, and controversial issues.
• Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates Police Department personnel; provides or coordinate staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in criminal justice, criminology , police science, public or business administration, or a closely related field;

AND

Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience as a sworn law enforcement officer, including at least two (2) years equivalent to a lieutenant or above.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Possession of a California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Management Certificate.

Working Conditions

Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment. Must be a United States citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for citizenship. Incumbents must pass a thorough background investigation.

Must be willing to work emergencies as well as evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must meet physical, psychological, and background standards established by POST as well as ongoing peace officer requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation. THE POSITION: 
This position inspects plans or buildings and construction for compliance with structural building codes, laws and ordinances and provides training and working lead assistance to other inspectors on structural matters as required.

You are: 
The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of the California Building Codes, CalGreen Code and related codes and regulations, including the methods, materials, techniques and practices employed in building inspection industry. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have working knowledge of the principles and practices of organization, administration, the ability to manage complex projects through inspection skills; and organization and functions of the various trades, agencies and organizations involved in the construction process, in addition to being an outstanding person, who aspires to excellence in customer service and is a committed team player.

Experience:  
Four (4) years of experience dealing with code compliance considerations related to the structural elements of buildings.

Two (2) years structural inspection experience involving major commercial or industrial installations.

Possession of a Class C California Drivers License.

ICBO (International Conference of Building Officials) Certification as a structural and/or combination inspector is highly desirable, but not required.

THE POSITION: 

The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Community Services Coordinator I/II position to plan, organize, and direct services and programs within the Community Services Department for our senior population, volunteer programs and city-wide special events. Our senior programs provide opportunities for adults 50 years of age and older, to engage in active and healthy programming. The Church Lane Senior Center hosts a congregate lunch program, numerous senior focused special events, weekday door-to-door transportation service (managed by a different full-time coordinator) and drop- in programs and classes. The city hosts 10-12 city-wide special events each year that include family dances, spring egg hunt, Cinco de Mayo celebration, Movies Under the Stars, 4th of July Multi-Cultural celebration, Halloween, Veterans Day and a Winter Wonderland Festival. The City of Auburn is hiring a Finance Technician in the City's Finance Department. This is a newly added position to the department and we are looking for an experienced and dynamic finance professional to join our team!

This position will primarily focus on payroll. Upon hire, the incumbent will jump right into learning the City's payroll processes and work regularly with human resources each payroll. In addition to payroll, the incumbent will perform work in various finance and accounting duties of the department.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance Technician works under general supervision of the Finance Director to perform a variety of clerical and technical accounting work; including assisting in the preparation, maintenance and processing of accounting records and financial transactions related to payroll, licensing, accounts payable and accounts receivable; assisting in budget preparation and monitoring; verify balances and adjust accounts; prepares various fiscal reports and provide information and assistance to City staff and the general public.

Duties include programmatic general accounting (general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll), support of budget planning and development, and preparing journal entries; assisting with the annual audit, and other administrative activities in the Finance Department. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the entry-level professional class in the Finance series. Positions in the class initially work under close supervision while learning job tasks and perform the more routine duties while learning City policies and procedures, and specific techniques and regulations related to finance. The incumbent will be a vital member of our team! With a focus on capital improvement projects, our Associate Engineer performs a variety of professional-level engineering work including development, CIP and other City plans regarding stormwater management, streets, transportation and public buildings.

Ability to:  Perform the full range of professional level engineering duties involved in the design, development, and construction management of a variety of construction/capital improvement projects; serve as project engineer on assigned design and construction projects; prepare, review, interpret, analyze, and modify engineering plans, drawings, specifications, contract documents, and engineering reports for conformance to professional standards and approved budgets; collect, assimilate, and evaluate data and prepare recommendations related to civil engineering projects; perform complex engineering computations and calculations; prepare bid documents, contract documents, specifications, cost estimates and engineering drawings; inspect public works projects for conformance with plans and specifications; administer change orders and contract laws; prepare clear and concise administrative and technical reports; interpret, apply, and ensure compliance with pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations; interpret, explain and enforce department policies and procedures; oversee the work of assigned staff, professional consultants, and contractors; respond to questions and inquiries from a variety of sources regarding engineering and development projects; research, review, update, and revise existing ordinances, policies, and design standards; conduct analytical traffic studies accurately and reliably; coordinate activities with internal and external agencies and committees; use and care for engineering, surveying, and drafting instruments and equipment; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
