The City of San José is recruiting for an IT Support Manager in the Information Technology Department. As a technical manager, this position will be responsible for overseeing infrastructure service and day-to-day operations for the City’s Emergency Operation Center (EOC).

The IT Support Manager supports the essential technologies needed to operate the City’s EOC in disasters, including the core network infrastructure, computing servers, storage, enterprise applications, collaboration tools, Mobile Device Management, Motorola Computer Dispatch workstations, and video and audio systems. The EOC technologies include a multi-layer redundant/backup network connectivity with a localized data center, servers, and storage. This allows the EOC’s technology services available during large-scale emergency events.

This position requires strong technical hands-on experience and leadership skills as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others. We are seeking an individual with a willingness to adapt to an ever-changing business as well as an ever-changing technical environment.  

The ideal candidate must be able to take full ownership of managing the IT infrastructure, business collaboration tools, and City applications to support the EOC and lead projects to completion. Infrastructure operations include identity management, private and public cloud infrastructure, server virtualization, system management and monitoring, client and server Windows Operating Systems and client applications, etc. Business collaboration tools include Microsoft Office 365 Productivity Suite, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, related Office 365 Suite offerings, and Zoom. City applications include GIS, desktop applications, etc. This position demands a proven ability to resolve complex technical issues with limited resources.  A strong leadership mindset, the ability to deliver team productivity, and a strong civil servant mentality are essential to this position. 

The IT Support Manager is a member of the IT Department with a mission to support the EOC. The work plan defines the business requirements with priorities set by the Office of Emergency Management. As a member of the EOC response team, the IT Support Manager will need to be available onsite to support the emergency event. Work hours during an emergency event could be after City’s business hours or on the weekend.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Providing technical leadership for the City’s enterprise infrastructure which includes: network, servers, hyperconverged infrastructure, desktops and mobile devices, Active Directory, VPN, Federation Service, Public/Private Cloud support, enterprise storage, system management and monitor, enterprise system backups and restore, as well as Disaster Recovery of EOC IT services. 
• Performing hands-on system configuration and advanced troubleshooting infrastructure issues to ensure service availability to meet service level expectations. 
• Validating and managing system configuration changes to ensure successful system upgrades and configuration changes to production environment. 
• Developing technical guidelines and governance framework to ensure best practices and security.
• Triaging, leading and resolving advanced infrastructure issues and service outages.
• Leading project implementation to completion.
• Coordinating communication and IT service needs with Public Safety and departments.
• Managing asset life cycle, including tracking, replacement, and surplus of equipment.
• Managing infrastructure maintenance and support contracts.
• Providing technical leadership and IT training to EOC staff and City employees.

The Budget Analyst position in the City Manager’s Office is responsible for operating and/or capital budgetary analysis assignments for a City Service Area (CSA) and several City departments, including assisting their assigned CSA/departments in the development of their operating/capital budgets; analysis of revenue and expenditure projections; coordination and presentation of budget information to the City Manager as appropriate; preparation of the City's annual Operating and/or Capital Budgets, Annual Report, Mid-Year Budget Review, and Fees and Charges Report; review of budget-related departmental requests; collaboration with departments to resolve budgetary issues; review of City Council memoranda for budget implications and appropriate budget language, if necessary; conducting research on budget and policy-related matters; and special projects as assigned. During critical times of the year this position will be expected to work overtime, both weeknights and weekends, for the preparation and release of several key budget documents.

Watershed Protection Division’s Stormwater Management Group – Trash Load Reduction Team
 
The Trash Load Reduction Team is responsible for coordinating, supporting, reporting, and implementing the Trash Load Reduction C.10 provision of the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Stormwater Permit (Permit). This position coordinates the implementation of projects in collaboration with other City departments and external partners. Key projects of the Trash Team include trash capture projects, the Direct Discharge Trash Control Program, creek assessments, cleanup coordination, grant and contract management, and reporting. 
 
Watershed Protection Division’s Stormwater Management Group – Monitoring and Pollutants of Concern Team
 
The Monitoring and Pollutants of Concern (MPC) Team focuses on reducing pollutants to storm drains from routine municipal operations; implementing control methods for pollutants of concern, such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), mercury, trash, pesticides, etc.; and assessing exempted and conditionally exempted non-stormwater discharges. The MPC Team works collaboratively with internal and external partners to address these regulatory requirements, and team members frequently support one another in various stormwater management activities to ensure compliance with the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Stormwater Permit.
 
Integrated Waste Management Division’s Residential Services Team
 
Residential Services oversees San José’s Residential Garbage and Recycling Program, which provides curbside garbage and recycling, yard trimmings, garbage processing, household hazardous waste drop offs, and junk pick up to approximately 331,000 households and over 140 City facilities through four contracted service providers with an annual budget in excess of $150 million. This ESS helps co-manage contractor agreements, perform data management and analysis for reports and presentations, and implement Senate Bill 1383 requirements and other state and local solid waste regulations.
 
Responsibilities include:
• Monitoring and evaluating contractor operations and performance to continuously improve service delivery and provide excellent customer service
• Providing public education and environmental advocacy

Sustainability and Compliance Division’s Sustainability & Policy Team 
The Sustainability and Policy team implements initiatives that support vital utilities for the community. This position assists the Energy and Water Building Performance Ordinance (BPO), which requires owners of large buildings in San José to benchmark energy and water use and make improvements if standards are not met. BPO staff annually assists more than 2,000 local building’ owners with compliance. Responsibilities include:
• Maintaining databases, noticing, and providing customer service for benchmarking and invoicing compliance

Sustainability and Compliance Division’s Municipal Environmental Compliance Group
 
The Municipal Environmental Compliance group provides technical support in the assessment, investigation, and cleanup of environmentally impaired or potentially impaired City properties/projects. Projects include fuel leak investigations, closed landfill compliance, and property acquisition investigations.
 
Responsibilities include:
• Performing Phase I Environmental site assessments and technical report writing
• Soil and groundwater sampling and field inspections.

Latent Fingerprint Examiner I Salary Range: $75,774.40 - $92,102.40

The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) is recruiting for a Latent Fingerprint Examiner I.   Under general direction, performs technical level work of unusual difficulty in fingerprint examination for criminal identification and evidence classification.

Typical duties as a Latent Fingerprint Examiner I may include, but not limited to:

- Collects, develops, evaluates, compares, and identifies latent fingerprints or other impression evidence found at major crime scenes or submitted to the unit, including whole, partial fragmentary, or distorted latent finger and palm prints.

- Operates computers and computer-related equipment associated with automated fingerprint identification systems.

- Provides expert testimony, methodology, and identification in all aspects of latent print processing in court and formal hearings.

- Uses fingerprint comparators, magnifiers, ridge counters and other technical and scientific equipment for observing and comparing latent prints.

- Maintains communications with Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies and identification units.

The Airport Department is currently recruiting to fill a Maintenance Worker II vacancy within the Maintenance Services Section. The Airport Maintenance Services Section is responsible for the maintenance, repair and improvements to Airport building facilities and properties on a seven day a week, twenty-four hour a day operation schedule. The Maintenance Worker II position at Mineta San José International Airport may lead a crew and/or performs skilled and semi-skilled work in public facilities and airfield maintenance. 

Typical duties for this position include, but are but are not limited to: 

- Maintaining a large area campus, including repair of asphalt and landscape care. 

- Repairing roadways, sewers, and landscape care (mowing, edging, tree care) 

- General carpentry and door hardware

- Safe operation of motor vehicles and equipment and knowledge of safety practices and procedures used in repair and maintenance of roadways and ground areas of large campuses. 

- Safe use of a variety of power hand tools utilized in landscape maintenance and building maintenance work. 

- Provide excellent customer service to the public and City staff. 

- Maintain system repair records and logs utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for planned maintenance on equipment and creating/closing work orders. 

- This position may be assigned to work any days of the week and be assigned to any of three shifts. 

- Incumbents in this position are required to possess and maintain all Airport grounds and Airside Operations Area (AOA) driving privileges.
