We are searching for our next Deputy Economic Development Director to lead the city’s thriving Economic Development Division. The Deputy Director is a high-level management position responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and managing the operations related to the City’s Economic Development programs. Division staff work independently and in partnership with other City departments to accomplish economic development objectives and goals; provide policy, technical, and market support on projects; establish metrics for evaluating the success of economic development programs and initiatives; conduct regular assessments and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders and senior management.

The Economic Development Division is highly regarded by the City Council and has developed exceptional trust within the organization and with our business community. The trust developed within and outside the organization is based on a strong foundation of communication and outreach. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education:

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Administration, or a related field.
• A Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations or Public Administration is desirable.

Experience:

• Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, redevelopment, real estate development, or related field including two (2) years of supervisory experience.

License:

• Possession of a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record throughout employment.

Under general supervision, lead, and conduct activities in the delivery of recreation program areas including camps, preschool, tots, after school programs, parks and nature, teens, boxing, youth and adult sports, special events, and active adults; oversee the proper use of indoor and outdoor community recreational facilities, perform a variety of custodial tasks; assist the public and staff in their use of the facility.

Distinguishing Characteristics: 

Under general supervision, the Recreation Aide assists in the proper use of a community recreational facility and assist Recreation Leaders in providing a variety of recreation programs. The Recreation Leader classification is distinguished from the Recreation Aide level in the complexity of duties assigned, independence of action taken, the amount of time spent performing the duties, the nature of the public contact made, and its training responsibilities of new staff. Positions at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to the assigned area of responsibility.

Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders

This recruitment is for Spring and Summer Events and Activities such as Bocce and  Volleyball Referee, Jazz and Blues Event Staff, Fourth of July Event Staff, and other fun classes, activities, and events

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00/ Hr

The City of Sausalito is recruiting for part-time temporary help for the spring and summer seasonal recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play. The ideal candidate will maintain a positive attitude and provide a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.   The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games. 

To be considered for this position, you must be available for the entirety of the season:

• March 5 - May 16 Tues-Thurs (approximately)
• Saturdays May 11th &18th 

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader release you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.   The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, smile often, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, and love the diversity of people. 

The minimum requirements for the position are:

• Reliable transportation to and from games or events
• Ability and commitment to arrive on time and remain until duties are completed and you are released
• Confidence and capability to manage conflict with grace and calm
• Commitment to long hours, days, evenings, or on weekends depending on the assigned event schedule
• Must be 14 years of age or older with a work permit if under 16. 
• Able to work independently
• Excellent people skills
• Strong ability to follow directions.
• Ability to lift and carry 25lbs

• Assists in the development, coordination, planning, implementing and supervising the day-to-day activities, themes and special events for an ongoing preschool program.

• Supervise and engage preschool students during preschool hours.

DEFINITION: This position reports to the Recreation Coordinator and/or Supervisor managing youth programs. This position involves a high level of management, coordination, and good communication skills. As Camp Director, you will oversee plans, direct and coordinate the daily activities and staff for Mill Valley Recreation Department and Community Center Summer Day Camp Program. You will may have up to 15 part-time staff reporting to you at one time, you may be required to lead the entire camp in coordination and planning on a daily/ weekly basis and you may be asked to arrive early or stay late to oversee/ assist with camp prep and cleaning up. This position requires a commitment to Mill Valley Summer Camp programming and may be between a 20 to 40 hour a week position.

CHILD CARE AIDE

This position will work directly with a Child Care Site Coordinator or Lead Teacher at varying pre-school or K-6/ K-8 school sites based on program needs. The Child Care Aide is responsible for leading activities and supervising small groups of children in State-funded Title V programs.
