The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for Extra Help-Cook within the Yuba County Jail. Under close supervision, prepares and provides institutional meals following federal and state nutritional guidelines, and performs other duties as assigned.  Yuba County staffs the Cook classification at the County Jail division in the Sheriff’s department  This position performs a full range of tasks associated with the preparation and distribution of meals to juvenile detainees and adult inmates.  The incumbent ensures that properly prepared nutritional meals are produced in a large volume, institutional setting.  Responsibilities also include overseeing detainees and/or inmates and institution workers assisting with food preparation. 

For successful performance, the incumbent would be required to have knowledge of principles, methods and equipment used in high volume meal preparation in an institutional setting; basic food groups and nutritional values; safe work practices related to food preparation, storage and service; basic business arithmetic; and basic inventory and record keeping principles and practices. Skill in overseeing and preparing meals in a large scale, institutional setting; overseeing and training others in basic cooking and work procedures; operating, cleaning and performing minor maintenance to large institutional food preparation and cooking equipment; maintaining accurate records and preparing work related reports; directing others in work procedures; and reading, understanding and following recipes and oral and written directions. Ability to interpret instructions and menus given by supervisor; know and understand how to clean and use kitchen equipment; observe inmates at work site; solve operational problems; remember cooking instructions; and explain work procedures to staff and inmate workers; supervise a kitchen facility utilizing inmate workers; and maintain intense concentration on activities going on around one’s location on a constant basis throughout the entire work shift. This is only a representative summary of the major duties and abilities for this position.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff.   The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated.  The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. Position Details:

Under general supervision of Recreation Services Supervisor, the Water Safety Instructor provides direction to Swim Instructor/Lifeguard staff at an assigned facility and ensures that the City of San Bruno guidelines, safety policies and procedures are being followed. The Water Safety Instructor ensures a safe and clean environment for customers, implements preventative Lifeguarding procedures, while monitoring programs. In emergencies, they must determine proper action and direct staff.  This position may be responsible for opening and closing buildings, managing swimming pool patrons and activities, monitoring facility use including facility and guest safety during rentals, setting up tables and chairs for rentals, City programs and events, performing light janitorial and custodial duties, ensuring compliance of established rules and procedures for the use of facilities, and performing other duties as required.

• Perform daily inspections or equipment and facility; correct and/or report any and all unsafe conditions to supervisor
• Teach swim lessons and aquatic classes to a variety of skill and age levels; evaluate participants according to program outlines and goals
• Lifeguard Instructor certification required
• Must test negative for Tuberculosis within the past 2 years
•  Must be patient and courteous with all members of the public
• Be dependable and punctual
• Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time

Working Conditions:

Work is assigned at both indoor and outdoor facilities, and may include exposure to unsanitary conditions, odors, cleaning chemicals, and some noise. The successful candidate must be able to work variable hours, including mornings, late evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Supplemental Position Information:

Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be dismissed at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, apart from paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes.  Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. The Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) team of the Human Services Agency (HSA) of San Mateo County is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Rehabilitation Production Supervisor I/II. This current vacancy is a permanent position assigned in Catering Connection and/or the WorkCenter program. The position is a shared assignment and will be scheduled weekly to work in Catering Connection and/or the WorkCenter. The schedule of this position will vary and include weekends depending on the needs of the departments.
 
Under supervision, Rehabilitation Production Supervisor I/II will perform a variety of support activities and supervise the operation of Vocational Rehabilitation Services’ Catering Connection, and WorkCenter. THE POSITION
Join us this summer season for a fun and engaging employment opportunity as a Senior Lifeguard to support the City of Rocklin's upcoming aquatic program and activities taking place at the Rocklin High School pool.

This class is distinguished from the Lifeguard by overall program responsibilities, training and experience. Senior Lifeguards serve as the Lead Lifeguard in providing technical and functional direction over Lifeguards.

Senior Lifeguards play a critical role in ensuring courteous and professional service to all pool attendees, including:

• Providing surveillance of swimmers and guests during City run swim hours. 
• Enforcing rules and regulation of City run aquatic facilities.
• Responding to emergency situations at assigned facilities. Administering and coordinating emergency first aid, as necessary.
• Providing superior customer service to all guests by assisting in a polite and expedient manner.
• Assisting the Parks and Recreation Supervisor with overseeing the safe and proper operation of assigned pool lifeguards. 
• Maintains order with disruptive patrons and exercises crowd control where warranted; refers escalated issues to the Parks and Recreation Supervisor.
• May be assigned other related duties. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One season of experience performing duties similar to that of a Lifeguard. Senior Lifeguard experience is highly desirable.

Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment.

 

REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

• Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate, or equivalent, by date of appointment.
• Possession of a current American Red Cross CPR/AED certificate, or equivalent, by date of appointment. (Obtained in ARC Lifeguard Certification)

This is a temporary, part-time, at-will classification that assists the Parks and Recreation Department with City aquatic programs and activities. Temporary employees typically work less than twenty-eight (28) hours per week, not to exceed 990 hours in a fiscal year (July 1st through June 30th). The expected duration of the employment is six (6) months or fewer, dependent on the needs of the City. Anticipated scheduling needs are between the hours of 11:30am and 4:30pm.

Temporary employees are not eligible for benefits, excluding those benefits prescribed by law.

Please note: temporary part-time employment with the City of Rocklin is on an 'at-will' basis meaning the City or the employee may terminate employment at any time with or without cause.

The Department’s nationally and internationally recognized programs support thousands of residents throughout their life course, from infants to elders. The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community. With input from local, older adults (age 55 years+) as our guide, the AFS team strives to provide and AFS staff work together to provide a continuum of supportive services that range from health promotion activities to home-based end of life care. AFS has a Senior InfoLine (phone and email) that is answered in 4 language (Farsi, English, Spanish and Chinese) that is often an entry point. As an older adult or their caregiver’s situation changes, they seamlessly have access to a continuum of programs that include counseling and emotional support; care coordination and resource assistance; specialized family caregiver support and education. Many of these supportive services are provided in the resident’s home. We also provide regular expert clinical consultation, supervision, opportunities for self-reflection, and team building, fostering a culture of empathy, inclusivity, humility, and respect.

 

The Position

 

Under the supervision of the Age Well Center Managers, the Chef/Food Services Manager position manages meal programs for the City of Fremont’s Age Well Centers. Chef responsibilities across both Age Well Center locations include the performance of menu planning, purchasing of foodstuffs, preparing quantity meals, supervising and assisting kitchen employees and volunteers and maintaining clean and orderly kitchens.

The incumbent will be responsible for properly cooked, economical, and wholesome, well balanced meals in City operated Age Well Centers. This position is not limited to being responsible for the assignment of work, supervision and evaluation of paid and volunteer food service workers. The review and approval of proposed menus, food purchases, control and monitoring of expenditure rates; and institution of disciplinary actions are functions reserved for the Program Coordinator or Age Well Center Managers.

Minimum Requirements (updated 2024):

• Minimum age of 18 years at the time of appointment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license; ability to attain any specialized license to drive departmental apparatus within 6 months of request by the Fire Chief; ability to maintain required driver’s license requirements as established by the Fire Chief and pass an “insurability” check by the District’s insurance carrier.
• Copy of current Driving Record issued by CA DMV- available online: www.dmv.ca.gov
• Ability to meet and maintain standards of physical conditions as prescribed in NFPA 1582-1992.
• Upon completion of probation period, possession of Hazardous Materials First Responder (Operations) and ICS 200 Certification, and State Driver/Operator 1A and 1B Certifications.
• By July 8, 2024, applicant must possess and maintain a current and valid State of California Paramedic License, and/or a current and valid NREMT-P Certification. 
• Possess and maintain a current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Possess and maintain a current and valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.

Typical Duties:

• Responds to fire, medical, and other emergencies.
• Perform fire, rescue and hazardous materials evolutions and operate equipment necessary to deal with the emergency situation within the District standards and within the Firefighter 1 certification.
• Provide emergency medical treatment as an Emergency Medical Technician I and assist paramedics as requested.
• Perform fire prevention, pre-fire planning, public education, public relations efforts, and hydrant maintenance.
• Drives and operates all fire apparatus and, if qualified, the Districts’ aerial in a safe manner and with due regard for the welfare of the public and the District.
• Maintains familiarity of streets, topography, physical conditions, and other matters affecting response in the District.
• Maintains familiarity with the District policies, procedures, and programs.
• Maintains proficiency in basic firefighting and rescue techniques and participates in District training programs.
• Perform routine apparatus, equipment and station maintenance and cleaning.

The Department: 

The City Clerk’s Office administrates democratic processes such as elections, access to records, and all legislative actions, ensuring transparency to the public. The Position:

Under general direction, the Deputy City Clerk is responsible for providing back-up support to the City Clerk and Assistant City Clerk.  This includes but is not limited to records management, public records requests, attendance at Council and/or Standing Committee meetings, preparing and editing minutes, and assisting with special projects. May be responsible for noticing, advertising, and calendaring public hearings.
