Under general supervision of the Director of Public Works (Management Analyst) or direction (Senior Management Analyst), performs a wide variety of administrative and analytical support duties for an assigned department; participates in assigned administrative processes, procedures and programs; provides information and assistance to the public regarding assigned programs and services; and performs related duties as assigned.
To perform on-site inspection to determine compliance with building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and housing codes and other governing laws and ordinances including basic zoning, grading, and flood zone regulations; to determine adherence with the approved plans; to check plans and specifications; and to issue building permits and respond to inquiries from the public. Under the direction of the Public Works Director/City Engineer, this position provides high-level engineering services for the City of Mill Valley. The Supervising Senior Engineer provides professional and technical assistance to the Public Works Director, manages municipal engineering staff and may act on behalf of the Director as assigned.
