San Mateo County Health - San Mateo Medical Center and its outpatient clinics are seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants - Spanish Speaking Preferred to join our care teams. Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Extra-help assignments are at-will and the employee is paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra-help workers are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

Term - Term positions are designated for a specific and limited period of time, anywhere from 6 months to a maximum of 3 years depending on the assignment. Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.
 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accurately take and record the condition, respiration, pulse, temperature and blood pressure of patients; record other pertinent information as observed or measured.
• Apply non-sterile dressings and administer non-medicated treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, surgeon, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.

• Perform injections including immunizations.

• Perform waived CLIA tests including dipstick UAs, and pregnancy tests.
• Provide for proper tracking and recording of laboratory tests.

Qualifications

Certification Requirement:
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Bilingual Fluency:
Some positions may require bilingual skills. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to be considered for a bilingual position.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

One year of experience in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office as a nurse's assistant or medical assistant.

Knowledge of:

• Principles, techniques and procedures specific to area of assignment.
• Principles and techniques in delivering patient care services related to personal hygiene, comfort, treatment, transportation, rehabilitation and physical or psychosocial needs.
• Infection control.
• Diagnostic imaging.
• Safe lifting techniques.

The City of San Jose, Animal Care and Services Division is seeking two (2) full-time Animal Shelter Veterinarians and multiple part-time Animal Shelter Veterinarians to work at the Animal Care Center. The Animal Shelter Veterinarian may perform all aspects of shelter medicine in a large animal shelter. Duties may include routine spay/neuter surgeries on cats, dogs, and other animals as indicated. This position provides direct care and treatment of homeless animals entering the City of San Jose’s Animal Care Center.

In addition, this position is required to diagnose, treat, and/or recommend euthanasia. Registered Veterinary Technicians will be assigned to assist this position with the preparation and post-surgery processes of spay/neuter and other surgical procedures.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Physical Requirements 
 
Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 50 pounds while handling animals and equipment. THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for one (1) individual to serve as a Psychiatrist I/II for the Adult Outpatient Clinic. JOB SPECIFICATIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Job Description

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supports the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients served by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Assists registered pharmacists in performing nonprofessional duties in an institutional pharmacy; receives, inspects, stores, and fills orders for pharmaceutical supplies. Nature of work involves continuous close attention to detail and some potential exposure to hazardous substances.

Under supervision, the Pharmacy Technician performs the following essential job functions:

• Accurately prepares unit dose medications, compounds a variety of pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, including intravenous admixtures according to proper aseptic technique and in accordance with, professional standards and departmental policies and procedures, in order to maintain required levels of supply and to provide patients with needed medications;
• Prepares or repackages drugs and pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, in amounts needed to fill written orders/prescriptions in order to provide patients with needed medication and to maintain required levels of supply;
• Prepares medication labels based on written orders from physicians and other professional staff according to California State Board of Pharmacy requirements;
• Records billing information for accurate and appropriate billing of patients for medications, involving use of desktop computer keyboard for entering medication orders and billing information;
• Maintains drug and pharmaceutical stock levels by counting and checking stores of drugs and pharmaceuticals against standard, pre-set stock levels, ordering and verifying deliveries against invoices to ensure accuracy; 
• Inspects and stores delivered stock in the pharmacy patient care areas by sorting and shelving them for optimal retrieval;
• Delivers, retrieves, and exchanges medications and pharmaceutical items to and from specified areas, or for dispensing by cart to ensure that clinical and patient needs are met;
• Provides information to patients, public and other healthcare providers within the scope of Technician activities through a variety of methods, including personal contact, at the Pharmacy window, in patient care areas, and by telephone or video.  This does not include medication counseling or providing drug information; 
• Orients and trains new personnel, pharmacy students, or others on departmental policies and procedures appropriate to a Technician’s scope of work;
• Uses, maintains, and troubleshoots automated dispensing equipment or relevant pharmacy-related software and other equipment necessary for pharmacy operations;
• Accurately prepares, dispenses, and documents controlled substance orders, and maintains accurate inventory records.

The 2409 Pharmacy technician also performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1.   Experience: One (1) year (equivalent to 2,000 hours) of experience (in the last 5 years) assisting in the preparation of drug and pharmaceutical items in a licensed pharmacy;

AND

2.   License: Possession of a valid Pharmacy Technician License/Registration issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy. (Please attach a copy)

• License status must be "Current" according to search.dca.ca.gov/

Substitution: Possession of a valid Intern Pharmacist License/Registration issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy may substitute for the required experience and license.

Notes:
