San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS), Child and Youth Services https://www.smchealth.org/bhrs, provides a broad spectrum of Trauma Informed mental health and substance use services for children, youth, and families focusing on prevention, early intervention and treatment of youth diagnosed as Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) and/or substance use disorders. We provide services through specialty teams outpatient clinics, in schools, and field-based teams in Daly City, San Mateo, Half Moon Bay, Redwood City and East Palo Alto. BHRS also provides services through a network of community agencies and independent providers who offer outpatient and wraparound services. BHRS supports treatment of the whole person to achieve wellness and recovery, and to promote the health and well-being of the people, families and communities we serve. Additionally for Residential Youth Treatment at Canyon Oaks Youth Center, Community Care Licensing requires providers working in this facility to maintain 40 hours of annual training related to the field, most of which are provided by the facility. Clinicians will also need to be trained in Professional Assault Crisis Training model (Pro-Act) upon hire.

The ideal candidates will possess:

• Strong assessment, diagnostic and evaluation skills Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management and various treatment modalities
• Experience providing treatment for youth with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED).
• Experience delivering services to youth who have mental health and substance use conditions.
• Experience delivering services in specialty areas for infants, children, youth, adolescents and/or transitional age youth.
• Excellent documentation skills: progress notes, assessments, client care plans, etc.
• Demonstrated expertise, skill and interest in working with a broad range of clients of diverse cultures and backgrounds, such as Latino, Pacific Islander, African American, and LGBTQ, and an ability to provide culturally appropriate and proficient services.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with families, co-workers, other professionals, collaborative partners and the public.
• Experience using electronic health/medical record systems (e.g. AVATAR, SOARIAN).
• Fluency in Spanish and experience providing clinical services using bilingual skills.

Additionally, for Residential Youth Treatment

• Knowledge of the principles of Trauma Informed Care Experience working in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Example of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform initial diagnostic evaluation noting behavioral symptoms.
• Determine and develop appropriate treatment plans for all clients in the caseload.
• Conduct individual, group and family counseling/therapy sessions for clients.
• Develop individual and group treatment plans utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic, psychosocial and psycho educational modalities.
• Conduct suicide/risk assessments & crisis intervention.
• Conduct home visits and/or field-based services (as relevant to program needs.)
• Awareness of community resources in order to provide linkage to additional supportive services.
• Conduct treatment groups in schools and other community settings with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children.
• Work as a part of a multidisciplinary team. Utilize Trauma Informed Care and other Evidence-based practices.

This is a non-benefited, part-time hourly/temporary position. 

The City of South San Francisco is a fully independent and highly commercialized full-service city with an estimated population of 66,185 growing to 100,000 during business hours. THE DEPARTMENT

The Public Works Department is comprised of the Engineering, Maintenance, and Water Quality Control Plant divisions.  The Engineering Division is responsible for delivering facilities and infrastructures that meet the needs of City residents and complying with standards and requirements established in the engineering guidelines and the City's Master Plan.

The Engineering Division is headed by the Principal Engineer.  The Senior Engineer position is an advanced-level engineering classification requiring professional registration, performing a wide variety of engineering duties in civil, sanitary, traffic, and other municipal public works, maintenance, and construction engineering projects.  This class is distinguished from other lower-level engineering classes in that it provides direction to staff and performs the more complex engineering and project management assignments.  Assignments and projects may be long-term or may constitute a major portion of a continuous or comprehensive engineering or Capital Improvement Program.

THE POSITIONS

Associate Civil Engineer

Under general direction, the Associate Civil Engineer performs difficult professional engineering work in the design and construction of public works, including sanitary, traffic, and mechanical projects; leads and trains lower-level engineering staff on assigned projects; and does related work as required.

DESCRIPTION:

The Department:

The Parks and Recreation Department provides planning, development, operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the City's neighborhood parks, open space, water sites, recreation buildings, and trails.

The Position:

Under supervision, to perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in connection with the development and maintenance of City parks and recreational facilities.

As an As-needed Laborer, the successful incumbent will work in the department, performing routine maintenance on various parks and facilities including the city-owned cemetery. This position will assist in maintenance and repair using a variety of tools and specialized equipment. 

The Laborer position performs varied, unskilled and skilled manual tasks related to landscape maintenance and sanitization. Typical tasks include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and buildings, loading trash and leaves in truck, litter abatement, mowing, edging, cleaning park sites, graffiti abatement, and operating a variety of hand/power tools and heavy equipment as needed. This position may require working weekends, holidays, and after hours. Must be able to read, speak, and write English at a basic level, follow written and oral instruction, and perform heavy lifting.  

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

The annual salary range for this position is $17.75 - $24.85.  This position will be filled at or near the bottom of the salary range.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Under direct supervision, performs varied, unskilled manual tasks often requiring considerable physical strength and the use of hand tools and hand power tools; loads rubbish and leaves on trucks; excavates and fills trenches and ditches; assists in the removal, trimming and spraying of trees and shrubs; prepares surfaces for paving; mixes cement; breaks up paved surfaces; helps place forms and pour concrete; lays pipes; uses such tools as shovel, rake, and jackhammer; operates trucks and heavier equipment as needed. Performs construction, maintenance and sanitation duties as required; and does related work as required.

Minimum Education Requirements:

Sufficient education to provide the ability to read, write and speak English at a basic level.

No experience is required.

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license is required.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Landscape maintenance experience.
• Experience working with the public in a service environment.

Other Requirements:

Ability to work odd and irregular hours including weekends and holidays.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

Some knowledge of: the purposes, use, and maintenance of simple hand tools; construction and maintenance methods and materials. Good ability to: learn to use simple hand tools; follow oral and written instructions; and perform heavy physical labor.

Works under the direct supervision of an assigned supervisor.

The Position and Responsibilties

As a member of the Public Works, Engineering Division, in the Development Section, the Engineering Technician I/II will perform a wide variety of support functions to assist with customer service, development review and permitting.

Examples of Job Duties

General Duties for both the Technician I and II in all assignments:

• Operates a variety of office machines, calculators, personal computers and a variety of software applications.
• Makes initial review of project submittals and RFI's and routes correctly.
• Under the direction of a registered engineer, prepares manually or through CAD diagrams for field design changes.

Engineering Technician I (Development Section)

• Reviews and issues encroachment permits for work in the public right-of-way to residents, private utility companies including but not limited to PG&E, AT&T, Comcast, Alameda County Water District (ACWD) and Union Sanitary District (USD).
• Assists the Project Engineer in the review of private development applications from planning entitlement phase, to issuance of building permits, to approval of final/parcel maps and construction of any public improvements required to support the proposed development.
• Provides customer service at the Development Service Center related to private development applications and requirements for issuance of encroachment permits.

Engineering Technician II (Development Section)

In addition to the duties listed above for Engineering Technician I:

• Participates in the review and recommendation process for more complex encroachment and grading permits.
