The City of Seal Beach is in the process of establishing an eligibility list for Lateral/Academy Graduate Police Officer. The Police Department serves a residential population of 24,168 and a summer tourist population of considerably more. Seal Beach is home to the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station which comprises (2/3) of the land within the City.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A Seal Beach Police Officer patrols the community based upon our Mission Statement, “The mission of the Seal Beach Police Department is to drive down crime and improve the quality of life for the residents and visitors of Seal Beach.” Our officers actively survey the city for trends to assist in the prevention of crime and the enforcement of law and order. Special assignments include: Field Training Officer, Detective Bureau, C.O.P. (Community Oriented Policing) Team, Motorcycle Officers, Regional SWAT/CNT, DEA Task Force Officer, Beach Patrol, Bike Patrol, Peer Support and other areas as needed. Duties include: receives instructions regarding problems and assignments during an assigned shift; patrols the streets to observe evidence of violations of law or conditions conducive to illegal activities or traffic accidents; reports hazards; renders first aid and emergency medical attention; issues citations or warnings; directs pedestrian and motor traffic; investigates crimes and violations reported; locates, gathers and preserves evidence and performs related duties as assigned.

DEFINITION

Under general direction, performs all phases of difficult, complex, professional, and technical planning and related works. Manages a variety of administrative tasks including grant compliance review, processing contracts, and verifying documentation.  Performs other duties as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Senior Planner is expected to independently perform the full scope of assigned duties. Incumbents work independently in the research and analysis of planning issues, in the preparation of planning reports, studies and recommendations, and in the supervision and coordination of assigned planning functions and processes. Incumbents are responsible for coordinating grant activities.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

• Assists the City Manager and Contract Planner in performing and administering a variety of current and advanced planning projects.
• Receives, reviews, and prepares reports and recommendations on applications for zone changes, use permits, variances, planned developments, subdivisions, signs, boundary adjustment and other planning matters.
• Interprets, applies, and explains federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations, including the California Environmental Quality Act (C.E.Q.A.) and the National Environmental Protection Act (N.E.P.A.).
• Meets property owners, developers, architects, planners, and others concerning zoning and related codes, standards, and requirement.
• Conducts plan check of building permit-level plan submittals associated with complex projects to verify compliance with project approvals and zoning requirements; conducts over-the-counter plan check of less complex development proposals and land uses; approves minor development plans.
• Performs regular mapping functions with the use of the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
• Reviews Business Licenses for compliance with Zoning and Municipal Code.
• Assists in the preparation and distribution of Planning Commission Agenda. Makes oral presentations before City Council, commissions, committees, community groups, and boards of other governmental agencies.  
• Evaluates environmental impact reports for accuracy and sufficiency and prepares reports and recommendation.
• Administers and implements the City’s grants including but not limited to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) programs.
• Conducts financial and program monitoring to ensure compliance.
• Prepares grant reports such as the Annual Action Plan and CAPER, and presents these documents to City Management or Council for approval.
• Works closely with granting agencies in preparing grant applications, budgets environmental reports, labor project monitoring, agreements with sub-grantees, the annual performance report, and other required reports.
• Explains program requirements to potential applicants and ensures their activity meets existing program guidelines.
• Assists with the preparation of the grant budgets for City Council Approval.
• Performs duties as assigned.

The County of Yuba is recruiting for the position of Social Worker III/III Master’s Level in the Child and Adult Protective Services Division of the Health & Human Services Department in an effort to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. Under general supervision, incumbents are fully competent to independently perform the most complex and sensitive social services case work by providing a variety of services to County residents; identify, access and document abuse and neglect cases; provide counseling and support services to children and parents; refer clients to services; prepare detailed, complex court documents and testify in court as required; and perform related work as assigned. The work may be related to a specific program area or to more general social service benefit provision. The Social Worker III and the Social Worker III – Master’s Level are the advanced journey-level classes in the general social work series.

The Crossing Guard position is a temporary position, approximately five hours per day, two (2) hours in the morning and three (2) hours in the afternoon, Monday through Friday.  Crossing Guards work a school year (September through June).  Applicants must be able to work outdoors, have reliable transportation or ability to report to assignment consistently.

Crossing Guards work under the general direction of the Parking Operations Lead Community Service Officer with the Seal Beach Police Department.  Based on the needs of the City, a flexible schedule may be assigned for either a morning or afternoon shift or a combination thereof, or for specific week days, based on the availability of the Crossing Guards and at the discretion of the Police Services Manager.

ABOUT POSITION:

This position is a part-time, non-benefited position. Work hours may vary, and schedules can be up to 29 hours per week as needed. There are no guaranteed minimum number of hours per week. Hours of operation of the Seal Beach Tennis & Pickleball Center are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 9:30 pm and Saturday/Sunday from 6:30 am - 5:30 pm.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Individual will work primarily at the City’s Seal Beach Tennis & Pickleball Center performing duties including, but not limited to, greeting and supervising patrons, handling of payments inside the Pro Shop, enforcing rules and regulations of the facility, opening/closing the facility, removing trash, restocking supplies, and general court maintenance, including court washing, locker room cleaning, and overall security of the facility.

This position will also work periodically as staff for facility rentals at the City’s community centers for various functions such as wedding receptions, baby showers, and birthday parties. This position may also help assist with scorekeeping for Adult Sports programs, including basketball and softball.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Ability to: Communicate effectively (both written and verbally); make good decisions; push, pull, drag, lift or carry equipment/supplies up to 50 lbs., lean, stoop, twist, bend and kneel in performance of job duties. 

Experience & Training: One year experience working for Parks and Recreation Departments or similar experience and general knowledge of tennis and sports is desired.

The City of Marysville is excited to announce that we are looking for Intern Fire Fighters.  Currently, we have 3 positions looking to be filled.

This is a NEW program within the Marysville Fire Department.  The Marysville Fire Department is hiring continuously for twelve (12) Firefighter Reserves.  These positions will be funded for four (4) years through the SAFER Grant.  

For each 24 hour shift worked, you will receive $60 for food and mileage, that will be paid monthly in accordance with the City of Marysville's established pay schedule.
