The Assistant Director, Financial Reporting and Operational Accounting will report directly to the Section Director, Financial Reporting and Operational Accounting, and will have management and oversight of the general ledger and financial reporting group; as well as production and publication of financial reports for the agency and its component units.  The Assistant Director will provide oversight in the development and/or review of policies and procedures for proper accounting and financial reporting of capital assets.  In coordination with internal stakeholders, this position will assist in developing and evaluating the internal controls associated with accounting and financial reporting of financial transactions.

This position will perform a variety of complex analytical, compliance, and administrative work in support of reporting functions; management of the financial reporting team and overall relationship with agency sections and program staff; coordinate with various outside agencies; analyze financial statements and communicate important financial information clearly to all entities. The Assistant Director will perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned by the section.

All employees at MTC are classified as Disaster Services Workers. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:    

Knowledge and Application of:

• Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and statements, and Uniform Guidance requirements;
• Automated financial accounting systems, in particular General Ledger, Budgets, Contracts and Purchasing and other relevant modules;
• Federal, State and Local grants and grant reporting procedures including:
• California Government Codes, Street and Highway, revenue and taxation, and PUC codes
• Electronic payment systems and revenue fare collections
• Methods and techniques for record keeping as well as report preparation and writing;
• Enterprise Resource Planning software and/or other financial management applications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An appropriate combination of education and experience that has provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is:

Education: A Master's degree in accounting, finance, public or business administration, or a related field, including a minimum of 24 semester-hours in accounting.  (Applicants with a degree issued from an institution outside the United States must have their transcripts evaluated by an academic accrediting service and provide proof of equivalency along with their application.)    

Experience: Five years of increasingly complex and diverse professional accounting work experience, two years of which having full supervisory responsibility for two or more major accounting functions, including the equivalent of two years as an Accounting Supervisor or Senior Financial Analyst for MTC.

Preferred Qualifications & Specialized Skills

• Public sector accounting and auditing experience, governmental accounting experience is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as a CPA, CPFO, or equivalent is desirable.
• Must have experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software and/or other financial management applications.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a safe driving record, or the ability to provide alternate transportation which is approved by the appointing authority.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general direction of the Accounting Section Director, the essential duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Director include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
Examples of Essential Functions

• Manage internal accounting controls for General Ledger. 
• Oversee all month end, quarterly, and annual G/L journal entries. 
• Recommend changes in policy and procedures to ensure financial records and audit processes are compliant with local, state, and federal requirements. 
• Prepare monthly financial statements and related reports for the Agency and all its component units and Commissioners and Boards of Directors; as well as various external reports such as State Controllers and National Transit Database. 
• Plan, organize, and perform assessments to ensure administrative, accounting, and internal controls exist and are properly functioning. 
• Manage all external financial and governmental/grant audits including the preparation of Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports and Single Audit Reports. 
• Work cooperatively and collaboratively with MTC staff and external stakeholders;
• Supervise staff. Hire, mentor, and proactively carry out performance management issues of direct and indirect reports including, establishing job expectations, performing probationary and annual performance appraisals, and managing performance and disciplinary issues. Ensure EEO policies and procedures are followed. Coordinate staff training and professional development. 

Examples of Duties

• Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving governmental accounting standard pronouncements, provide Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) interpretation and prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical, and comprehensive manner. 
• Research, interpret, implement, and enforce GASB standards and pronouncements. 
• Oversee the accounting and reporting of capital assets and projects and grant transactions. 
• Ensure compliance with federal and state grant accounting regulations and conditions. 
• Review accounting journal entries and ensure the accuracy of information. 
• Oversee the production of monthly financial statements/reports. 
• Oversee compliance with audit recommendations. Maintain records and audit reports for follow up audits and to monitor compliance with recommended changes in policy and procedures. 
• Review the Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports for all business units and update the report with the various notes as they relate to each of the business units. 
• Oversee the preparation of financial reports for all boards and associated committees, attend committee/board meetings, and present reports and make presentations as required and requested.
• Evaluate job performance of staff which also includes the professional development of staff through the identification of on-the-job and other professional development opportunities. 
• Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned by the section.

HYBRID WORK - Employees may need to be in the office for some assignments/tasks that can only be done onsite or at a designated MTC work assignment location.  This position can primarily be performed remote. On-site attendance as required based on in-person meetings or work assignments.

The City of San Jose is seeking an Enterprise Client Services Manager (Enterprise Supervising Technology Analyst) for the Information Technology Department (ITD). 

The Information Technology Department houses a team of customer-centric technicians and engineers to support the use of technology by City employees and the public. As the Enterprise Client Services Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and managing that team of engineers and technicians ensuring excellent endpoint management services and day-to-day customer support services.

Key duties may include but are not limited to:

• Managing a Tier-1 helpdesk team to provide excellent customer service requested via online tickets, phone, and walkups.  
• Providing endpoint services management for UCaaS/VoIP, PCs (Windows 10/11 OS), conference rooms, Zoom, etc.
• Designing and overseeing implementation for newly introduced client service project initiatives and ensuring operationalization transitions to the IT Tier-1 support.
• Managing the ticket queues ensuring quality service and promoting fast turnaround time.
• Maintaining and improving the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based operational standards and services.  
• Overseeing customer hardware/software quoting and purchasing operations.
• Monitoring and providing analysis of reports and metrics to management and customers as needed.
• Coordinating and managing key third-party vendor relationships.
• Creating and managing training and development plans for direct reports. 
• Tracking maintenance renewals and subscriptions for users-owned services, hardware, and/or applications.
• Managing escalations and/or complaints and utilizing best judgment and discretion to resolve them.
• Improving customer service quality results by conducting surveys; evaluating and re-designing processes; establishing and communicating service metrics; and, monitoring and analyzing results.
• Improving productivity, quality, and customer-service standard based on customer services metrics.

The City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department is looking responsible, enthusiastic,

Qualifications:

Must be at least 15 years old and have the ability to obtain a work permit, if under the age of 18.  Applicants must have completed and passed the Lifeguard Training class that includes CPR, FPR, and AED by June 1, 2024. WSI (water safety instructor) is highly recommended.

Lifeguard Job Responsibilities:

• The primary responsibility of a lifeguard is to protect lives by using their skills to prevent injury among patrons.  This duty does not only include rescuing drowning victims or administering CPR and first aid.  Being alert and proactive also helps to prevent dangerous situations from ever occurring in the first place.
• Enforcing the rules fairly and consistently is a close second major duty and could even be considered to be a part of patron surveillance.  Help the patrons to keep themselves safe by monitoring and putting an end to dangerous behaviors. 
• Maintenance and cleaning tasks are also part of the lifeguard’s duties.  These can include monitoring chemical levels in the pool, picking up trash and organizing equipment, or inspecting the facility for unsafe conditions.

Swim Instructor Job Responsibilities:

• The swim instructor is responsible for instructing swim lesson participants in a variety of swim levels.
• This position is also responsible for the safety of the participants in their own class.
• Work hours as scheduled which includes beginning and ending class on time; remaining after class to answer participant and/or parent questions as needed and clean up supplies.
• Instructs and evaluates students participating in swim lessons.
• Submits completed report cards, skills sheets, and attendance information on time.

The annual salary range for this position is:

$117,979.68 - $149,363.76 (Exempt)

Under the general supervision of a Senior Engineer, the Associate Engineer position performs a variety of professional engineering, plan review, and inspection work.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Examine plans, perform calculations and review specifications for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings for compliance with the California Building Code, California Fire Code, California State Fire Marshal regulations, and  applicable NFPA standards and local ordinances.

What You’ll Do

• Release property to the public or the legally authorized persons in accordance with disposition forms, court orders, or stipulations.
• Check out items needed for court, investigations, and forensic testing; share evidence needed for investigation or review; transport items to and from laboratory and maintain strict records of chain of custody.

• Make arrangements for auction of unclaimed property.
