DEFINITION: Under general supervision, plan, organize and provide leadership for children grades 1st – 5th . for an onsite afterschool program. Program hours are M, T, Th, F PM 2:30pm – 5:30pm and Wed. 1:30pm – 5:30pm Approximately 15 – 20 hours a week.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively with co-workers, parents, and children. 
• Possess strong leadership skills in one or more of the following areas: art, crafts, sports, drama, cooking.
• Manage the task of checking in and checking out each child to the proper guardian.
• Encourage good behavior and appropriate manners.
• Encourage active play, read books and provide a safe and nurturing environment.
• Implement and lead appropriate activities for 1st – 5th grade aged children.
• Supervise play activities and ensure the safety of the children during such activities.
• Supervise and engage students during the afterschool program hours.
• Motivate participants through example.
• Must be a team player and have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Program hours are M-F PM 8:30am – 1:00pm and/or MWF 8:30am - 1:00pm. Approximately 15 – 30 hours a week. Substitute and floating positions also available 8:30am - 1:00pm.

• Assists in the development, coordination, planning, implementing and supervising the day-to-day activities, themes and special events for an ongoing preschool program.
• Create and maintain a safe, challenging and creative environment.
• Supervise and engage preschool students during preschool hours.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively with co-workers, parents, and children.
• Maintain registration, attendance, and activity records; ensure the proper pick-up/drop-off of children. 
• Encourage good behavior, appropriate manners, read books and provide a safe and nurturing environment.

DEFINITION: This position reports to the Recreation Coordinator and/or Supervisor managing youth programs. This position involves a high level of management, coordination, and good communication skills. As Camp Director, you will oversee plans, direct and coordinate the daily activities and staff for Mill Valley Recreation Department and Community Center Summer Day Camp Program. You will may have up to 15 part-time staff reporting to you at one time, you may be required to lead the entire camp in coordination and planning on a daily/ weekly basis and you may be asked to arrive early or stay late to oversee/ assist with camp prep and cleaning up. This position requires a commitment to Mill Valley Summer Camp programming and may be between a 20 to 40 hour a week position.

CHILD CARE AIDE

This position will work directly with a Child Care Site Coordinator or Lead Teacher at varying pre-school or K-6/ K-8 school sites based on program needs. The Child Care Aide is responsible for leading activities and supervising small groups of children in State-funded Title V programs.

The City of Newark is seeking energetic, organized, and responsible individuals who enjoy working with school-age children. Recreation Leaders will assist in the implementation and planning of a wide variety of arts and crafts, sports, games, special events, and excursions. The City of Belmont is seeking a Pool Manager / Senior Lifeguard to supervise the Summer Aquatics Program at the Carlmont High School Aquatics Center.
