DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This entry-level classification in the Program Leader series is responsible for providing child development services in Youth Services programs. Incumbents at this level are not expected to function with the same amount of knowledge or skill level as positions allocated to the Senior Program Leader level, and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.

1. Provides support duties for child development services in Youth Services programs; assists children in activities; prepares and serves snacks based on established guidelines; performs clean-up and food storage duties.

2. Assists in preparing instructional, craft, and other materials; participates in, and encourages, play activities with the children; may assist in providing tutorial and/or remedial activities in small groups.

3. Uses positive reinforcement strategies to maintain order and discipline within the classroom; handles disruptions as needed.

4. Opens, secures, and cleans program areas before and after program use; prepares program areas for scheduled activities and events.

5. Assists in the implementation and monitoring of District procedures with respect to participant safety.

Education and Experience:

•  High School Diploma or GED, or currently enrolled in child development Regional Occupational Program (ROP).
•  Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is desirable.

Knowledge of:

• Child development services, operations, and activities.
•  Modern office practices, methods, computer equipment, and applications related to the work.
•  Principles and practices for providing high level of customer service

Ability to:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The classification supports indoor and outdoor programs requiring frequent walking, running, conducting exercises, and related physical activities. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, or tools and equipment used in assigned program area. Program activities may require sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; the ability to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS

Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. The City of Foster City has an opening for a Engineering Intern in the Public Works Department. The position is part-time with flexible scheduling, up to 980 hours per fiscal year, and no benefits provided. The department is interested in candidates for the summer or candidates who can start as soon as possible.  

Important and Essential Responsibilities: 
Daily responsibilities will include works directly with the Public Works staff, populating the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database, and performing indexing and data entry. Other duties may include providing project assistance to technical and engineering staff related to capital improvement projects, researching, CAD drafting, plan review, data collection and analysis, permit issuance, and compiling information from various sources, and providing administrative or other support in the Public Works Department. 

Education and Training Guidelines:

• Education: Graduation from high school. A degree or degree in progress in Engineering program in a school or university is required.

POSITION INFORMATION

Livermore Area Recreation and Park District is currently recruiting  for Preschool Teachers  who are cheerful, child focused, and creative to plan themed based programs. This position will be responsible for planning curriculum, engaging in conversations with children (age 4 and 5), assist children in projects, supervise indoor and outdoor play, interact with parents, oversee the direction of the assigned teacher assistant, and be responsible for the overall safety of the children in the program.  

Minimum educational requirement: 12 ECE units in the core classes. Must have experience and understanding of working with preschool children. 

Schedule: This position will be three days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; 8:30 a.m- 1:00 p.m.

The City of Burlingame is accepting applications for the position of Environmental Regulatory Compliance Manager

The City of Burlingame is currently recruiting for a self-motivated, highly organized individual with a proven track record of successful independent judgment to join our Department of Public Works as the Environmental Regulatory Compliance Manager.  Under the limited supervision and direction of the Deputy Director of Public Works Operations or other supervisory personnel, the incumbent will perform activities and provide services related to Environmental Programs to the divisions within the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for reviewing, implementing and coordinating environmental regulatory compliance programs and energy conservation programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following)

• Oversees and manages the annual Municipal Regional Permit (MRP), compliance auditing, management of inspection programs, preparation of reports, and coordination with regional and state agencies.  Serves as the City liaison for the assigned administrative division with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies as part of the reporting requirements relative to the MRP.

• Responsible for the completion of Industrial and Commercial Site Control Inspections, and associated reporting, as required by the MRP.

• Directs work of consultants, contractors and City staff on subject matters specific to the MRP.

• Implements and participates in the City’s programs relating to, but not limited to regulatory programs for storm water pollution prevention, water and energy conservation, and related areas; monitoring of regulatory websites such as the SF Estuary, California Integrate Water Quality System (CIWQS).

• Assist in developing local programs and ordinances such as mercury and PCB abatements from stormwater to comply with state regulations.

• Manages, develops and implements public education outreach programs related to pollution prevention programs in compliance with permit requirements.

• Coordinates with Division managers to assist them in complying with state regulations relative to the Clean Water Act, potable water regulations, and water rights matters.  

• Preparation, management and administration of Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP), and its compliance with state regulations.

• Updating and tracking of the required audits related to the city’s Sanitary Sewer Management Program (SSMP) as required by the statewide general Waste Discharge Requirement (WDR).

• Ensures SSMP contractor compliance with industrial pre-treatment and inspection programs as required by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.

• Represents the City, and serves at various committees including San Mateo County Stormwater Pollution Program Agency, CASQA (California Stormwater Quality Association), and at BASMAA (Bay Area Stormwater Management Agencies Association) on issues relative to stormwater management, green infrastructure plan, trash reduction, and overall compliance.

• Coordinates with senior level staff at regional levels to determine compliance for local issues and provides support to the Code Enforcement office to ensure City is in compliance with stormwater ordinances.

• Reviews and provides input on environmental documents and studies within areas of technical knowledge. Prepares reports and makes presentations to the management team, City Council, and regional and state agencies; develops schedules, and cost estimates for City environmental projects and programs;

• Analyzes regulations and programs on environmental matters and provides recommendations to management teams.

• Composes and presents comprehensive, concise and effective oral and written reports, communications and presentations on complex matters to diverse technical and non-technical audiences; reviews and evaluates forms and manuals and recommends changes

• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies and associations, City management and staff, and the public

• Prepares, develops, coordinates and implements contracts related to environmental programs and other work programs as directed

QUALIFICATIONS: (The following are minimal qualifications necessary for entry into the classification)

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for an Environmental Regulatory Compliance Manager.  A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Minimum 4 years’ related experience in environmental regulations and practices or 2 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, biology, public administration or closely related field. 

License/Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid class C California driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS: (The following are a sample of the KAS’s necessary to perform the essential duties)

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities.  The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard and mouse. The Selection Process

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the full journey-level classification in the wastewater treatment plant operator series. Incumbents independently perform the full range of wastewater treatment and reclamation and recycled water facilities and equipment operations and maintenance duties. Positions at this level work independently, exercise judgment and initiative and receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. This class is distinguished from the Lead Plant Operator in that the latter is responsible for providing technical and functional direction to operations staff and is capable of performing the most complex operations and maintenance duties assigned to the division.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives supervision and direction from the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager or designee. Exercises lead oversight, including provision of technical supervision, assignment of work and/or the training of less experienced staff.

The City of East Palo Alto is seeking an empowering, self-motivated, leader to fill the full-time limited term 6 months Utility Manager position. The Utility Manager plans, schedules, assigns, and reviews the work of consultants, contractors and staff within assigned area. The Manager will also assist with long- and short-term project planning, design, maintenance, and operations in one or more of the following utility areas: water, wastewater, collection systems, solid waste, telecommunications, storm drain systems, and other utility related programs. Additionally, the Manager performs a variety of complex and responsible support to the City Manager and Public Works Director on all City utility related matters. The Utility Manager exercises general direction and supervision over supervisory, technical, operational, and administrative support staff.
