The City of Dixon Fire Department  offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for qualified applicants holding a career in fire safety and is recruiting to fill vacancies of full-time appointments for the position of Lateral Firefighter/Paramedic. 

To be considered eligible for Lateral Firefighter/Paramedic you must meet the following criteria:

• A minimum of 12 months of current and continuous experience as a full time/career firefighter with no separation time or break in service at time of application.
• Possess a current, valid Cal-JAC CPAT Card issued withing the last 12 months from date of application submission and ability to pass City of Dixon's aerial ladder agility test.
• Possession of a current, valid Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic license meeting the requirements of the California Emergency Medical Services Authority.
• Possession of a California State Fire Marshal Firefighter I Certificate.
• Possession of a current, valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate issued by the American Heart Association or the equivalent. (Pediatric advanced life support & basic trauma life support or international trauma life support)
• Ability to possess Solano County Paramedic Accreditation within three (3) months of initial hire.
• A Firefighter Class C Endorsement and maintain clean driving record

Firefighter/Paramedic: This position performs firefighting, rescue, emergency medical care, fire prevention, equipment operation, and equipment maintenance activities to protect life and property; assumes primary responsibility for patient care at the scene of a medical emergency; and performs other related duties normally associated with the position of professional Firefighter/Paramedic.

The Dixon Fire Department offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for qualified applicants pursuing a career in fire safety.  The position performs fire prevention activities to save lives and property; responds to hazardous material incidents; responds to all fire alarms with designated company; prepares and operates the necessary equipment at the scene of the fire such as a hose, ladders, chemicals, bars, hooks, etc.; administers first aid to injured patrons; performs other acts required of a Firefighter at the scene of an emergency; carries out all duties assigned by Superior Officers.  Work involves irregular hours during the day and evenings, and on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

THE POSITION

The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor position may be assigned to the following areas:

Lifeguard

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard performs lifeguard duties in enforcing City public swimming pool rules and monitoring pool patron conduct; perform emergency rescue and lifesaving techniques.

Swim Instructor

Under general supervision, the Swim Instructor performs swim instructor duties in planning, coordinating and teaching swimming and water safety courses, enforcing City public swimming pool rules and monitoring pool patron conduct.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this classification. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.

Lifeguard

• Enforce swimming pool rules and regulations, including ensuring orderly conduct by pool patrons.
• Assist in providing instruction for a variety of swimming classes for all ages and ability levels. Assist swimmers who are in distress and administer a variety of first aid and/or life saving techniques, as appropriate.
• Assist in maintaining pool areas in a safe and clean condition.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Swim Instructor

• Assist in providing instruction for a variety of swimming classes for all ages and ability levels.
• Assist in maintaining pool areas in a safe and clean condition.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

FIREFIGHTER-PARAMEDIC (LATERAL)

Annual Salary:  $119,205 - $130,211

(Additional incentive pays up to 7.5% above base salary plus $200 per month Bi-lingual pay)

• Two-week intensive training academy
• A bank of 48 Hours of vacation leave given at time of hire
• A bank of 60 hours of sick leave given at time of hire

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and react quickly to emergencies.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. Candidates must be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency and providing care according to the level of training.

This position is responsible for performing transactional paralegal duties related to legal transactions for the Housing Department. The ideal candidate will be a Paralegal experienced in preparation and/or review of real estate loan documents, closing of escrows for real estate financing transactions (including review of preliminary title reports and title policies), will be detail-oriented with good organizational and computer skills, and will have good writing and analytical skills. Typical assignments may include preparation and/or review of real property financing documents and other lender documents, real property acquisition documents, escrow instructions, and consultant and grant agreements. Other duties may include, but are not limited to, drafting and/or reviewing resolutions and ordinances, coordination with City or other government departments or agencies, involvement in the Council agenda process, and responding to public record act requests. Depending upon qualifications, the successful candidate may be hired at the Legal Analyst I or Legal Analyst II level. The annual salary range for a Legal Analyst I is $80,676.96 to $98,083.44, and the annual salary range for a Legal Analyst II is $88,058.88 to $107,016.00. Both ranges include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate's qualifications and experience.

The Marinwood Fire Department operates as a single station all-risk Advanced Life Support (ALS) engine company that includes nine (9) professional firefighters trained in areas of firefighting, ALS/BLS emergency response, technical rescue, disaster response, fire prevention, and community preparedness.  The department works closely with the City of San Rafael Fire Department under an existing Shared Services Agreement.  This includes San Rafael Fire Department providing all chief officer services, ambulance services, and joint training programs.  Our mission is to partner with our community to proactively reduce risk from fire, illness, injury and other hazards.
