Applications are being accepted for the position of Engineering Intern (part-time hourly/temporary) with the City of South San Francisco’s Public Works Department - Engineering Division.

This is a non-benefited, part-time hourly/temporary position. 

The City of South San Francisco is a fully independent and highly commercialized full-service city with an estimated population of 66,185 growing to 100,000 during business hours. DEFINITION

Under limited direction, the Housing and Economic Development Manager directs and administers the division to which they are assigned. More specifically, the Housing and Economic Development and Housing Manager develops, coordinates, and implements the City’s housing and economic development programs and related activities; initiates key long range planning activities based on the City’s General Plan, Housing Element, Belmont Village Specific Plan, Economic Development Strategic Plan, and regional initiatives; provides housing and economic data to inform key policy decisionmakers; develops and implements marketing, branding and outreach activities for business engagement; and performs related duties as assigned. 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS 

The Housing and Economic Development Manager functions as manager over the Citywide area of practice to which they are assigned, i.e., housing/economic development activities and provides technical expertise to other City departments and related agencies. The Housing and Economic Development Manager is distinguished from the next lower classification of either Management Analyst I/II in that the former is a division level manager, with vast programmatic responsibilities, expected to function with limited supervision.

Under general supervision, the Neighborhood Preservation Inspector. ensures compliance with applicable sections of the State, Federal, and Municipal Codes, ordinances, and in relevant areas, such as property maintenance, abandoned vehicles, planning, zoning, signs, community nuisance, and related areas.  This is a classification in the Economic and Community Development Department.

CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

The Neighborhood Preservation Inspector is the full journey-level classification.  This position requires experience in both Municipal and Zoning Codes and Regulations. Employees at this level are expected to work with property owners independently and to coordinate City resources to solve neighborhood issues.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only):

• Work closely with homeowners and businesses to achieve compliance.
• Interpret ordinances, policies and procedures, and code enforcement concepts.
• Prepare reports and recommendations on code enforcement matters, and gain voluntary compliance.
• Coordinate actions with other departments or jurisdictions.
• Prepare reports, legal documents, and letters.
• Prepare case information and present evidence at appeal hearings and other legal proceedings.
• Inspect and investigate land use, and site and environmental conditions.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for consideration: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in environmental science, biology, chemistry or a related field.

Experience: Four years of responsible environmental compliance program experience including one year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience

The City of Dixon is opening a great opportunity for those interested in contributing to local law enforcement efforts for the position of Police Volunteer in the Police Department. Under the direction and supervision of experienced police personnel, volunteers will provide critical support across various functions, complementing the efforts of sworn officers and civilian staff.

This is a volunteer position intended as an educational and community service experience. In addition to serving a support role within the Police Department, this classification is exposed to a wide variety of law enforcement duties and will have different opportunities, based on level of interest, to support community policing efforts and activities.

Under the supervision of veteran Police Officer's the cadet experiences what it takes to develop important cadet skills. Streets & Construction Worker I

The City of Chowchilla is seeking a Streets & Construction I, under general supervision, to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, gutters, facilities, trees and other public service activities, and to perform related work as required.

THE POSITION(S)

Streets & Construction Worker I:

This is an entry-level class under close supervision, performs any combination of the following duties on construction projects, usually working in utility capacity, by transferring from one task to another where demands require worker with varied experience and ability.  Work is usually performed with other workers.  This class may advance to Streets & Construction Worker II after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency to meet the qualification of the higher-level class.

Prerequisites:   Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school (or G.E.D equivalent to graduation) and two years’ experience performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled construction and/or maintenance involving buildings, grounds, streets and sidewalks.

Water System Worker III (Lead Position)

($25.51- $32.66 per hour)

The City of Chowchilla is seeking a Water System Worker III to assist in the operation and maintenance of the City’s water distribution system, including pumps, mains, chlorinators, meters, and other equipment; and do related work as required on an assigned shift, under general supervision of the Utilities Systems Supervisor and/or Director of Public Works.
