The Dixon Fire Department is looking to fill a full-time vacancy for a Fire Captain and to establish an eligibility list for any future vacancies. This position coordinates and directs advanced firefighting activities, emergency medical aids, emergency rescue and other emergency and prevention activities, in protecting life and property; oversees subordinate personnel engaged in training, station and equipment maintenance; assists and participates in training programs; drives, operates and maintains all fire apparatus and equipment. Performs related work and other duties as required.

DEFINITION:

Under general direction, manages and directs the Accounting Division of the Finance Department, including the budget development process and preparation of the budget book; budget monitoring, analysis and reporting; short- and long-range fiscal forecasting; ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures; and capital planning.  The Accounting Manager trains and evaluates assigned staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

This is a single position classification at the managerial level in the Finance Department responsible for managing the budget and accounting functions. The Accounting Manager has a broad range of independence within policy and procedural limitations and works under minimal supervision. The incumbent is accountable to the Finance Director for the quality and efficiency of services directed.  The Accounting Manager is expected to provide resources, system support, and oversight to all subordinate professional and paraprofessional staff. This position is responsible for the successful planning and implementation of the citywide budget process and the day-to-day accounting operations.  

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only):

• Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the activities of the Accounting Division including general accounting, accounts payable and payroll.
• Recommend the appointment of personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; conduct performance evaluations; work with employees on performance issues; and implement disciplinary procedures.
• Prepare, review and maintain journal entries and general ledger postings and supporting financial records and supervise the maintenance of the General Ledger.           

• Conduct and coordinate the annual audit and serve as the liaison between the City and the external auditors, provide requested information and necessary documentation for completion of the audit, and ensure timely completion of the audit, State Controller’s Office reports and other compliance reports as required.
• Oversee reconciliations of the City’s financial activities including bank accounts and investments, month-end and year-end close processes and prepare related reports.
• Plan and implement citywide budget process and related fiscal programs.
• Effectively communicate budget preparation calendar and information needs, capabilities, and limitations as well as budget policies, procedures and outcomes to departments, city officials, citizens, and other interested parties.
• Project citywide personnel costs on an annual basis and as needed.
• Monitor the City’s budget, perform budget analysis, prepare quarterly budget status reports, develop financial and capital plans, and prepare short- and long-range financial forecasts.
• Research and implement new budget initiatives that increase the usefulness and clarity of budget presentations and maximize staff efficiency.
• Conduct a variety of special studies; prepare and present various analyses, statistical compilations, and reports to City staff, City Council, or the public.
• Assist in the management of the City’s capital financing programs, including debt issuance.
• Facilitate development and implementation of improved processes and standard procedures.
• Participate in the development and implementation of Department goals, policies, and priorities.
• Assist in operational administration of risk management activities as assigned.

DEFINITION:

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSISTANT

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSISTANT

This is the entry-level class in the Transit Planner series and will receive direction and guidance from the Transit Manager. Work given to an incumbent in this class involves assisting in analysis and development of transit programs and services, research of new trends in public transit and comparing how Union City provides service delivery, and participation in coordination events or meetings on behalf of Union City. The Transit Planner Assistant has basic knowledge of the operating procedures and policies of transit and/or transportation planning. An incumbent may advance to the higher levels after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher-level class.

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSOCIATE

This is an experienced-level class within the Transit Planner series and will receive general direction from the Transit Manager. Work given to an incumbent in this class involves general analysis and development of transit programs and services, research of new trends in public transit and comparing how Union City provides service delivery, and participation in coordination events or meetings on behalf of Union City resulting in recommendations based on the incumbent’s work. The Transit Planner Associate has general knowledge of the operating procedures and policies of transit and/or transportation planning.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Recreation Activity Leader in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will organize, coordinate and lead a wide variety of indoor and outdoor recreation activities at City parks, playgrounds and recreation centers.

The City of Lincoln is accepting applications for a Seasonal Maintenance Worker I in the Solid Waste Division of the Public Works Department.

Under general supervision, the incumbent learns to, and performs the full array of duties assigned to classes in the Maintenance Worker series including maintenance, construction and equipment operation work and performs other related duties as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Maintenance Worker I is the entry level class responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and construction tasks.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

The Maintenance Worker I receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor or designee. Incumbents of this class do not routinely exercise supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Solid Waste: Operates a variety of collection vehicles and equipment including front, rear and side loaders in the collection and transportation of residential and commercial refuse; drives to landfill site when vehicle is full and unloads material; evaluates and updates assigned routes; cleans, maintains and inspects assigned vehicles; maintains daily logs.
• Performs maintenance, repair, construction, and  equipment operation, and refuse collection.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.

THE POSITION

The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for staff to assist with events at the Rocklin Events Center and other locations in the City. The Events Venue Specialist (Program Assistant) is a temporary position and incumbents work on an as-needed basis, not to exceed 28 hours per week and up to 999 hours per fiscal year. Temporary employment does not provide any guarantee of continued employment and the City of Rocklin may end the assignment at any time. Temporary employees are not eligible for any other benefits except where required by law and there is no guarantee of future permanent employment.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performs light janitorial duties (e.g., empty trash, clean restrooms, and restock supplies) before, during, and after events.
• Sets up audio visual equipment at venue site.
• Checks clients in and out of City venues.
• Takes prospective renters on tours of facilities and answers questions about pricing and equipment at each rental location.
• Ensures client needs are met.

THE  SCHEDULE 

A typical schedule looks like this:  

Evening and Night shifts Sunday through Thursday

Shifts vary from 7am - 1am Friday and Saturday

Night and weekend availability is required.

Under general supervision, a Police Officer is responsible for the performance of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws, to carry out special assignments as necessary, and other related duties as assigned. Requirements:

Candidates must have completed a California P.O.S.T. Certified Police Academy. Must be 21 years of age as of the appointment date, high school graduate or G.E.D., (as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education), and U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship.

Out-of-State Candidates:

The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training. POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy, or a regular police academy. If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

Applicants passing the Oral Board examination will be placed on the eligibility list based on their Oral Appraisal Board rankings. We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to supervise and lead staff in the enforcement of municipal code compliance, investigation techniques and practices, and interpretation of regulations.

The Code Compliance Supervisor must be highly knowledgeable in code compliance programs and federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations.

• Plans, organizes, supervises, and evaluates code compliance program activities and operations within the Community Development Department; develops, implements, and monitors work plans to achieve goals and objectives;

• Performs the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit including the most difficult and complex municipal code violations for residential and/or commercial buildings to ensure compliance with City, state and federal regulations governing code compliance;
• Keeps informed of changes and new legislation pertaining to zoning compliance and regulations affecting work of the department, ensuring that appropriate staff is informed and current.
