JOB SUMMARY: The Facilities Technician reports to the Assistant Manager, Facilities and is responsible for providing building maintenance services at the District facilities in accordance with established standards and procedures.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on all facilities according to manufacturers’ specifications and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Perform basic facility repairs including painting, carpentry, plumbing, heating and cooling (HVAC), hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Complete daily work orders in a timely fashion in accordance with District standards.
• Respond to facility-related emergencies 24/7 during assigned periods in rotation.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
• Perform scheduled maintenance, provide emergency response services and make repairs, and repair tools and equipment and monitor building maintenance contracts.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair activities are recorded, organized, and complete. Records must be readily available for reference, audit, and quality control.
• Collaborate with District departments to obtain work scope information, discuss options, collect job details and estimate labor and material costs relating to work order.
• Inspect and report on functional operation of buildings, grounds and related facility systems including: heating and cooling systems, fueling and lubrication systems, storm, plumbing, potable water, sewer and industrial waste systems, fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems, electrical power and lighting systems, in-ground hydraulic lift systems, bus parking designation markings, roofing systems, bus exhaust evacuation systems, roll up access doors and roll up fire doors, and environmental protection systems.
• Maintain clear and accurate records of maintenance tasks performed and status of District facilities.
• Develop and maintain a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools.
• Maintain open communications with other departments; develop and maintain effective internal relationships. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Must participate in weekend and holiday on-call rotation.
• Safely operate a variety of maintenance vehicles.
• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one’s self, fellow employees and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION: Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Manager, Facilities, who establishes goals and objectives and evaluates performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Three (3) years full-time industrial building/facility maintenance experience, or a combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
• Must have valid California driver’s license with a safe driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• General experience troubleshooting electrical systems, heating and cooling (HVAC) systems, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
• Able to work safely in different kinds of weather conditions and workspace environments.
• Able to safely lift 50lbs and climb/work on ladders and other equipment.

The City of Foster City is looking for an experienced Associate Engineer with a passion for public service. Education and Experience

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently recruiting for two full-time Animal Care Services Officer. Under close supervision, incumbents enforces State and County laws regarding stray, dangerous, rabid, nuisance and unwanted domestic animals; investigates complaints; patrols assigned areas; captures animals; removes dead animals from public and private properties; assist in feeding and cleaning animal enclosures; assist with euthanizations and disposal of animals in a humane and prescribed method and performs other duties related to humane animal protection and control; performs related work as assigned including assisting the public with drop off, pick up and adoption of animals as necessary.  This is a working level class in animal control, responsible for enforcing applicable regulations in a limited public officer capacity. San Mateo County Health's Correctional Health Services is seeking qualified and experienced Correctional Health Nurses to perform varied professional nursing duties with primary emphasis on professional nursing care for inmates within a locked correctional facility; treat and educate patients about various medical conditions; record medical histories and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results; operate medical machinery; administer treatment and medications to over 100 patients in an 8-hour shift; assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation; and perform other duties as assigned and required. Correctional facilities include the Maguire and Maple Street Correctional Centers (Redwood City) and Youth Services Center (San Mateo).

Under general direction, Correctional Health Nurses are fully competent to independently perform a full range of professional nursing duties and procedures requiring one to exercise a high degree clinical judgment. Correctional Health Services provides integrated medical, dental, mental health, and chemical dependency treatment to the incarcerated adult population, as well as medical and dental care to the juvenile hall population of San Mateo County, as described below:

• Medical services include health screening, treatment, education, and 24-hour emergency response for adults.
• Clinic appointments are available by referral and upon request and include chronic care for hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and HIV, as well as obstetric, orthopedic, and urgent care.
• Dental services include treatment and medication for urgent dental conditions and extractions for adults and juveniles.
• Mental health services include crisis intervention, evaluation, treatment, psychiatric medication, behavior management, and continuing care referrals.
• Day treatment services are provided to mentally ill men and women in the Life Skills Program at the Maguire and Maple Street Correctional Centers.
• CHS also provides weekly group therapy; cognitive behavioral approach to addiction and recovery; and re-entry services for those transitioning back into the community.

The ideal candidates:

Will be well-rounded and will have knowledge of Correctional Health and Mental Health nursing; Emergency Room or ICU experience; or a strong Medical/Surgical and Telemetry foundation. OB/GYN, pediatric experience and psychiatric care experience are also ideal, but not required. Candidates must be able to administer medications to over 100 patients within an 8- hour shift, in a locked correctional facility and on weekends.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Administer treatment and medications to over 100 patients within an 8-hour shift.
• Complete patient assessments and triage, as well as record patient histories, symptoms, and observations.
• Establish and implement nursing care plans for each patient through assessment, development, activation, and evaluation.
• Participate in patient case conferences and rounds.
• Organize, assign, and supervise duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
• Orient and teach new staff members of the nursing team and students.
• Perform nursing care following prescribed rules, policies, protocol, and procedures.
• Identify problems, assist in data gathering, propose solutions and participate in evaluation of quality assurance issues.
• Work with patients and their families to provide in-hospital and after-hospital follow-up through teaching and referral.

• Participate in non-clinical assignments, which may include maintaining records, preparing reports, and/or serving on special committees.

• Perform related duties as assigned and as required by assigned work setting, as described below.

Duties for nurses in this series may also include the following:

• Perform professional nursing duties within a locked correctional facility.
• Check vital signs; give injections; perform catheterizations, IZ Registry, Point of Care Testing; and draw blood for medical purposes.
• Start, maintain, and discontinue intravenous lines.
• Monitor patient rehabilitation.
• Perform mental status exams and implement plan of care based on assessment findings.
• Monitor and document on patients in restraint and seclusion while maintaining patient safety.
• Determine medical or psychiatric emergency need and provide intervention.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

Possession of a California license as a Registered Nurse or equivalent and a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Description

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is recruiting for the position of Assistant Counsel I/II in the Office of General Counsel. This position will focus primarily on civil prosecution of air quality violations, including cases seeking civil penalties and/or injunctive relief before the Air District’s administrative Hearing Board and in Superior Court. Experience prosecuting or defending such cases under air quality or other environmental laws, or in other similar enforcement contexts, is highly desirable. The position will also provide legal advice, counseling and representation on related legal issues arising under local, state and federal air pollution laws and regulations, including air quality permitting, development of new regulations, California Environmental Quality Act issues, contract drafting, administrative law issues, and civil rights compliance, among others. Many of the most pressing air quality issues the Bay Area faces relate to disproportionate air pollution burdens in historically disadvantaged communities, so experience and familiarity with environmental justice issues is desirable. This is a full-time, exempt, management position. Under direction, the position performs legal work of a routine to complex nature representing the Air District, provides advice and counsel to Air District management and staff, represents the Air District in court and administrative proceedings, and performs related work as assigned.
 
Distinguishing Characteristics:
 
Assistant Counsel I is the entry level in this specialized attorney series. It is designed to allow an experienced civil attorney to gain specific environmental law experience. This class is alternately staffed with Assistant Counsel II, and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency that meet the qualifications of the higher level class.
 
Assistant Counsel II is the journey level class of this specialized series, fully competent to perform a wide range of environmental law work. This class is responsible for providing effective legal counsel in complex and controversial environmental law matters. This class is distinguished from Senior Assistant Counsel in that the latter assists in administering and coordinating all phases of legal work for the Legal Division.

Examples of Duties for this Position

Prepares and tries routine to difficult cases, often involving a specialized body of law.

Represents the Air District in court and in administrative hearings before boards and commissions and state and federal agencies.

Investigates and prepares reports regarding claims by and against the Air District and recommends actions to be taken.

Advises Air District departmental management regarding Air District authority, jurisdiction, functions and operational procedures.

Researches legal problems and prepares opinions, briefs, ordinances, resolutions, and other legal documents.

Attends Air District departmental, board and commission meetings to provide legal advice on a variety of matters.

Reviews ordinances, resolutions, contracts and other documents for legal sufficiency; recommends modifications as required.

Maintains accurate records and files and compiles reports of work performed.

Monitors legal developments, including proposed legislation and court decisions; evaluates their impact on Air District operations and recommends appropriate action.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
 
Assistant Counsel I: Equivalent to graduation from a college or university plus an appropriate law degree and two years of experience as an attorney engaged in the practice of law, preferably with a public agency and preferably involving environmental law and/or enforcement cases, although other relevant experience will be considered.
 
Assistant Counsel II: In addition to the above, two additional years of experience as an attorney engaged in the practice of law, preferably practicing civil environmental enforcement with a public agency in the State of California, although other relevant experience will be considered.
 
 Other Requirements:
 
 Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of California at the time of hire.

Project Description

Under supervision, the History Room Intern will assist with archival projects at the City of South San Francisco Public Library. Interns may assist with collection processing, creating metadata, describing public events, and social media and/or other outreach initiatives. The intern will gain an on-the-job understanding of archival standards and best practices and learn how to use the ArchivesSpace content management system and other technologies. They will also gain experience working with a variety of archival materials. In addition to archival projects, the intern will help plan, coordinate, and host one public event and create a public display showcasing archival material. The internship helps develop the intern’s communication, research, information management, and problem-solving skills.

Project Outcomes

The History Room Intern will learn how to process and describe collections and materials housed in the Library’s History Room.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the  flexibly staffed position of Elections Clerk I-II in the Elections Division within the Clerk-Recorder’s Office for both Extra Help and Full Time positions. This position reports directly to the Registrar of Voters Manager. This class is flexibly staffed, and incumbents may advance to the II-level after gaining experience, demonstrating proficiency, and meeting the qualifications. The City of Belmont, in partnership with Carlmont High School, will be hosting summer high school internships for students that are interested in public government. This unique opportunity was created to expose the student community of Belmont to the many departments it takes to run a City. 

Internships available: 

Police Department

Public Works - Engineer

Community Development - Planner

Finance - Accounting Manager

City Manager's Office - Communications and Community Affairs Officer

Parks and Recreation

Information Technology (IT)

The internship will run from June 10th through July 3rd, Monday-Thursday. June 19th will be an observed holiday for the student interns. The working hours will be from 9am-3pm, however, the City understands the many opportunities that students have throughout summer so if a flexible schedule is requested from a student, this will be considered when a spot is offered. 

For high school students looking to explore careers in city government, public policy, or city planning and safety, the City of Belmont offers a foundational experience that combines education with real-world application, making it a sought-out program among government internships for high school students.
