We are seeking experienced 9-1-1 Police Dispatchers with a passion for public safety and effective communication skills to join our fast-paced Police department providing essential and impactful service to our community. Ability to hire above starting pay based on relevant experience. This is a demanding yet rewarding position which performs a variety of dispatching duties for emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatches police officers to calls for services, and operates a variety of communication equipment including radio, telephone, and computer systems.

Working shifts for this position consist of a 4/10 (varied) work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedules rotate every four months and may change to a 3/12 when needed.

The Power Resources Specialist I/II position reports to a Principal Power Resources Specialist in the Power Resources Division. This position is part of an exciting, fast-paced team responsible for procuring hundreds of megawatts of renewable energy projects. The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities: 

• Supports the preparation, issuing, and evaluation of solicitations for long term renewable energy, energy storage services, Resource Adequacy, energy and other power products, including overseeing or supporting consultants.  

• Plans and supports the negotiation and execution of power contracts, including facilitating complying with City contract execution requirements. 

• Assists in the management, analyzing, and enforcing of power contracts, including long term renewable energy contracts through development, construction, and operation.  

• Assists in efforts to pursue opportunities for the City to develop City-owned power assets.

Salary Information:

The Position

The Police Communications Call Taker (Per Diem) receives emergency and non-emergency call for service, performs technical support duties in police department communications, and performs related duties as required. The position requires excellent customer service and communication skills.

DEFINITION

• Conduct a range of media outreach strategies, including placing stories in media outlets; coordinating operations, such as scheduling, for media requests and interview preparation; pitching media, and managing media lists. 
• Conduct research and prepare information for media interviews, media memos, strategy sessions, and to advise on policy decisions. 
• Proactively review media sources and outlets, scroll through news sites and social media to stay current on local, regional, and national topics that affect San José and the Mayor’s policies.  
• Analyzing earned and owned media metrics as well as larger external trends. 
• Day-to-day administration of the office’s communication tools and schedule. 

Employees in this classification are not members of the classified civil service and appointment would be on a contract “at-will” basis and is for a specified period of time to be determined by the appointing elected official and does not extend past the end of the elected official's or appointing authority's term. Candidates must be willing to work evenings and weekends on occasion, and as exempt management employees, are not eligible for overtime compensation. The Crossing Guard position is a temporary position, approximately five hours per day, two (2) hours in the morning and three (2) hours in the afternoon, Monday through Friday.  Crossing Guards work a school year (September through June).  Applicants must be able to work outdoors, have reliable transportation or ability to report to assignment consistently.

Crossing Guards work under the general direction of the Parking Operations Lead Community Service Officer with the Seal Beach Police Department.  Based on the needs of the City, a flexible schedule may be assigned for either a morning or afternoon shift or a combination thereof, or for specific week days, based on the availability of the Crossing Guards and at the discretion of the Police Services Manager.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general supervision, a Police Officer is responsible to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work; to control traffic flow and enforce State and local traffic regulations; to perform investigative work; to participate in and provide support and assistance to special department crime prevention and enforcement programs. This is the entry level classification in the professional police series requiring sworn peace officer status.

Mill Valley, the third largest city in Marin County, is located 6 miles north of San Francisco at the foot of Mount Tamalpais. The population is 14,500 with another 16,000 within its sphere of influence. The city is primarily residential with an active commercial element supporting local needs. Examples of Essential Duties (include but are not limited to):

•  Patrol the City in radio-equipped car or on foot.
•  Answer calls for the protection of life and property, and the enforcement of city, county, and state laws.
• Conduct both preliminary and follow-up investigations of disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, hold-ups, vehicle accidents, death, and other criminal incidents.
• Patrol the City and respond to calls related to traffic incidents and any other required emergencies.
• Observe, monitor, and control routine and unusual traffic conditions.
• Assist and advise motorists and enforce traffic safety laws.
• Make arrests as necessary.
• Interview victims, complainants, and witnesses.
• Interrogate suspects; gather and preserve evidence.
