The Position

The Senior Landscape Architect will plan, supervise, and review the work of City Landscape Architect staff. The incumbent will: coordinate and oversee various landscape projects; perform professional landscape architect work in conjunction with the design and preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for the development and rehabilitation of parks, landscaped areas and street beautification projects; inspect and review the work of developers and contractors landscaping for conformance with plans and specifications; and give professional advice on landscape matters.

Examples of Duties

• Organize and oversee the landscape design and layout of parks, recreational areas, roadway medians and pedestrian ways.
• Plan, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of professional City and contract staff.
• Train staff in work procedures.
• Provide policy guidance and interpretation to staff.
• Recommend design direction on high-profile urban design of public and private projects that impact landscape design and urban projects within the City.
• Oversee and coordinate the Parks Capital Improvement Plan update for the Department.

• Conduct park location studies to evaluate park site feasibility and proposed development.
• Respond to public requests and complaints regarding landscape development and tree preservation.

Camp Manager

Position Details:

Under general supervision, this position is assigned to perform a variety of duties to support the users of various indoor and outdoor City facilities and programs. The Recreation Specialist will oversee programs and rental activities. This includes opening and closing buildings, managing swimming pool patrons and activities, monitoring facility use including facility and guest safety during rentals, setting up tables and chairs for rentals, City programs and events, performing light janitorial and custodial duties, ensuring compliance of established rules and procedures for the use of facilities, and performing other duties as required.

• Overseeing operation of swimming pools or “dry” activities and rentals
• Staff lead for issues related to programs and customers

Working Conditions:

Work is assigned at both indoor and outdoor facilities, and may include exposure to unsanitary conditions, odors, cleaning chemicals, and some noise. The successful candidate must be able to work variable hours, including mornings, late evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Physical Demands

Light to moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds); pushing; pulling; crawling; climbing; and prolonged periods of standing. Lifting above the shoulders, working off a ladder, manual dexterity, and good vision and hearing are also required.

Supplemental Position Information:

Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be dismissed at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, apart from paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes.  Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. Employees may use up to 40 hours (or 5 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

Marina Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center, and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: Marina Attendants provide assistance and information to marina customers, in person and by telephone; perform marina related inspections and boat checks including seaworthiness boat checks and improvement verifications; perform boat measurement and appearance inspections; monitor dock conditions, check seawall and other dock infrastructure, and clear debris from Suisun City waters; perform impound and auction related activities; interpret, apply and explain policies, regulations, codes and procedures relating to slips, moorings and dock structures; assign space for visiting vessels, calculate and collect fees; maintain inventory and operate marina equipment. ABOUT THE POSITION: Office Assistant I will receive immediate direction from the Senior Administrative Assistant, with additional direction given by the Business Services Supervisor. The City of Thousand Oaks is currently accepting applications to fill several part-time, hourly positions in the Library Services Department. The position will require working at both the Grant R. Brimhall and Newbury Park Branch locations.

Library Pages are typically scheduled to work 15-18 hours per week, which can include morning, evening or weekend hours.

Primary responsibilities:

• Shelve and maintain books placed on shelves
• Assist with unpacking boxes of materials, including unloading and sorting donations

The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division is seeking seasonal Election Vote Center Representatives (Office Assistant I) to assist in the upcoming March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election. Vote Centers offer in-person voting, voter registration, and additional services to the public up to a month before the election.
 
We are currently seeking dedicated and hard-working individuals for the temporary, full-time positions of Vote Center Representatives to be hired for the following duties:

• Use an iPad tablet to verify voter eligibility.
• Provide information about the current election.
• Guide voters on use of electronic ballot marking devices.
• Operate office equipment including Windows Laptops, printers, and iPad tablets.
• Provide in-person voter assistance to register to vote and cast a ballot.
• Issue ballots using Windows laptops.
• Maintain accurate files and records.
• Secure Election materials and supplies to maintain the integrity of the election.

The Elections Division is an exciting, fast-paced environment, especially as elections approach. Vote Centers will be open for two, four, eleven, and thirty days. Those hired can expect to work approximately 7 – 35 days including training and onboarding. The election will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The selected individuals must be available for the entire employment period until the completion of their assignment. The last anticipated day of employment will be March 7, 2024.
 
Vote Center Representatives will work eight (8) hours per day in-person once the site opens. Typical hours are 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with the addition of at least one weekend (March 2-3, 2024). This assignment will include one setup day of at least four hours before opening the location. On Election Day, Vote Center Representatives will work from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. or later.  
 
The hourly wage for this position starts at: $22.97. These positions will require working overtime, including long hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays.  

• Authorized time worked more than 40 hours in the workweek: compensated at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the straight-time rate.
• Hours worked on a holiday: compensated at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the straight-time rate as provided in the Overtime Section of this MOU for their work group.

 
NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act.  Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

 

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year of general clerical, office assistant, phone services or computer experience, experience with customer service, and a close attention to detail.
 
Critical skills for all Vote Center positions include the ability to prioritize work, coordinate several activities, organize and maintain accurate files and records, and understand and carry out oral and written directions. Several positions require fluency in Burmese, Cantonese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Tagalog/Filipino.
 
The position requires basic addition and subtraction. Vote Center Representatives must be proficient in the operation of a Windows computer, computer software, and applications. This position also requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, learn computer applications/software quickly and accurately, and serve members of the public.
   
Applicants with previous experience as Poll Workers or Vote Center Representatives are strongly encouraged to apply.
