Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS), provides a broad spectrum of Trauma Informed mental health and substance use services for children, youth, families, adults and older adults. We provide behavioral health in diverse settings including community outpatient clinics, field-based settings such as homeless encampments and shelters, and through a network of community agencies and independent providers who offer outpatient services, residential treatment, rehabilitation and other services for adults. BHRS Adult and Older Adult Services serves residents of San Mateo County age 18 years and older with severe functional impairments due to a serious mental illness and/or multiple co-occurring substance use, medical, and/or developmental disorders. The Adult Psychiatric Social Worker/Marriage Family Therapists are integral members of a multidisciplinary team, providing a broad range of psychosocial interventions with the goal of improving the quality of life of the client.

 

The ideal candidates will possess:

• Skills in assessment, diagnostic, and evaluation techniques.
• Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed care principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management and various treatment modalities (e.g. evidence-based practices).
• Experience providing treatment for adults with serious mental illness.
• Experience delivering services to adult consumers who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Experience delivering services in diverse populations for adults and older adults. In a variety of settings (e.g. outpatient clinics, homeless encampments, shelters and correctional settings).
• Comprehensive and timely documentation skills (e.g. progress notes, assessments, client care plans, etc.).
• Demonstrated expertise, skill and interest in working with a broad range of clients of diverse cultures and backgrounds, such as Latino, Pacific Islander, African American, and LGBTQ, and an ability to provide culturally appropriate and proficient services.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with families, co-workers, other professionals, collaborative partners and the public.
• Extensive knowledge of available community resources within the County of San Mateo and its neighboring counties.
• Experience using electronic health/medical record systems (e.g. AVATAR, SOARIAN, Epic).

 

Example of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform initial diagnostic evaluation noting behavioral symptoms which may indicate a psychiatric or co-occurring disorder and interpersonal or family dysfunction.
• Perform risk assessments.
• Determine and develop appropriate treatment plans for all clients in the caseload.
• Provide individual, group and family therapy, care coordination, case management, rehabilitation, and crisis intervention as appropriate.
• Participate in developing individual and group treatment plans utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic, psychosocial and psycho educational modalities.
• Conduct home visits and/or field-based services. Crisis Intervention. Make client referrals and plan discharge procedures.
• Assess progress of clients on a selected basis and propose modifications to rehabilitation plans in order to meet goals agreed upon by the clients/patients.
• Prepare and maintain psychosocial case histories for use in diagnostic evaluations and of patient progress.
• Supervise doctoral interns, masters level student interns and trainees.
• Provide outreach, engagement and refer clients to appropriate mental health program service resources.
• Collect and evaluate psychiatric information such as case histories, behavior patterns and family relationships.
• Analyze factors which exert an adverse effect upon health problems, treatment, or recovery, or which may contribute to or are responsible for mental illness or affect the potential for rehabilitation.
• Conduct treatment groups in schools and other community settings with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children toward the goal of achieving higher functioning in interpersonal relationships and learning.
• Work as a psychiatric team member with other treatment disciplines.
• Utilize Trauma Informed Care and other Evidence-based practices.
• Provide consultation and education services. Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and responding to after-hours calls for Crisis and Outreach and HEAL. Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure/Certification

• Psychiatric Social Worker I/II: Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Intern (Associate Clinical Social Worker). An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the date of employment as a Clinical Social Worker issued by the State of California. For Psychiatric Social Worker II, current California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker is required.
• Marriage & Family Therapist I/II: Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Intern (Associate Marriage and Family Therapist). An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the date of employment as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California. For Marriage & Family Therapist II, current California license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist is required.

The Public Authority for In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is seeking well-qualified individuals for the position of Public Authority Registry Social Worker II/III with fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese. There is one vacancy in the Public Authority. The current vacancy would be responsible for supporting IHSS consumers who do not have caregiver resources, in hiring a homecare provider from the Public Authority Registry and helping the client and provider establish a successful working relationship. The position is located in San Mateo, CA, but will require travel throughout the County to perform duties of the positions.

 

NOTE: The Public Authority Registry Social Worker II/III is not a County position; the Public Authority unit reports to the San Mateo County Director of Aging and Adult Services.

 

PUBLIC AUTHORITY

The Public Authority serves as the employer of record for IHSS homecare workers, with the IHSS consumer retaining the right to hire, fire and train their worker. The Public Authority's responsibilities include operating a Registry that recruits, screens and refers potential homecare providers to IHSS consumers needing personal assistance in their home; screening the backgrounds of IHSS providers in accordance with IHSS policies and regulations; providing training opportunities to IHSS providers to enhance their skills in serving IHSS consumers; and offering support and assistance to Registry consumers and providers to ensure the employer-employee relationship between the Registry consumer and provider are functioning well. The IHSS consumer is the IHSS employer and is responsible for hiring and supervising a provider for the care they receive. Consumers who do not have caregiver resources, may choose to hire a caregiver from the Public Authority Registry. The Public Authority Social Worker will assist those recipients with the hiring of a Public Authority Registry worker and help them to manage their role as the employer.

 

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Conduct home visits to support consumers' hiring needs.
• Educate, support, and perform administrative duties for IHSS consumers and care providers to understand/comply with program regulations.
• Provide conflict mediation between consumers and providers to help stabilize cases.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: California class C driver license or equivalent.

Social Worker III: Satisfactory completion of 36 semester units of social welfare and/or appropriate behavioral science courses.

Experience:

Social Worker II: Two years experience performing duties comparable to those of a Social Worker I or higher in San Mateo County. Substitution: Possession of a Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work.

Social Worker III: Three years experience performing duties comparable to those of a Social Worker II or higher in San Mateo County. THE DEPARTMENT

The American Canyon Police Department provides first response services to all forms of emergencies and crises.  The Department provides public safety by enforcing the Penal Code, Health and Safety Code, Vehicle Code, and local ordinances.  American Canyon Police Department is comprised of 24 sworn peace officers, two non-sworn Police Technicians, and an Administrative Clerk.

THE POSITION

The Police Technician performs a variety of non-sworn, administrative and field support tasks associated with law enforcement support services, which may include property and evidence collection, crime prevention, parking enforcement, vehicle abatement, and community relations; to maintain confidential and highly sensitive records related to police activities; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

This is a high-profile position with frequent interactions with community members in often difficult circumstances. The quality of the work performed in this role is reflective of the standards of the Department and the City. This is a uniformed, civilian position that does not require peace officer status. However, a detailed background investigation, medical exam and drug screening is required due to the sensitive nature of the work involved.

This position is not designated for retired annuitants.

 

THE POSITION

Typical duties performed by a Police Technician may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 

• Patrol areas of the City to identify and resolve parking violations and traffic hazards and enforce applicable laws; respond to citizen complaints regarding parking and abandoned vehicle laws; tag and arrange transportation of abandoned vehicles.
• Provide assistance, information and directions to motorists; assist in the coordination of Police Service support for special events in the community; provide traffic control at local schools.

Role description

Under direction, the 2595 Senior EAP Counselor provides direction and supervision to counselors providing organizational wellness services and engaged in direct client counseling; provides clinical assessments, short-term counseling, and referral of City and County employees experiencing difficulties related to personal or work-related problems; conducts seminars, trainings, and consultations on issues related to personal and organizational wellness; prepares records and reports; and performs related duties as required.

Supervision

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, frequently communicate and exchange information, review handwritten, electronic and facsimile documents, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The employee must occasionally move items weighing up to 20 pounds inside the office.

Required Hours and Location

Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week with some scheduling flexibility. Occasional overtime work on evenings or weekends upon prior approval by supervisor. The position will work out of the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens but may be required to travel to various other locations. Offices at the River Center are spread among multiple buildings and floors.

The County of San Mateo Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) seeks a Board eligible or Board certified Adult Psychiatrist to join the North County Behavioral Health Center in Daly City, California, to work with adult BHRS clients with severe mental illness and substance use disorders. This is a full-time position.

The position offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package which includes County funded malpractice insurance, pension plans and health benefits for retirees, 5% match into deferred comp, reimbursement of professional dues and expenses (up to $3,000/year), an additional 5% increase in salary for each qualifying Board certification up to two (2) Boards, administrative leave time at 5 hours per pay period up to 260 hours (this is prorated for part time employees) that can be used as time off or cashed out up to 50%, three days of Winter Recess (24 total hours) leave time, and a wellness program, including exercise classes, worksite massage, and an onsite gym. BHRS positions include a hybrid model of remote work, which may continue in the future.

The North County Behavioral Health Center serves multiple large cultural populations. We are also specifically seeking bicultural candidates and/or candidates who demonstrate cultural literacy, sensitivity, and a strong desire to work with Filipino, Latino, and/or Asian populations.

 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to the following: 

• Conduct psychiatric assessments and make diagnoses.
• Prescribe appropriate treatment plans and prescribe therapy, psychotherapy, rehabilitation programs, and medications as needed.
• Medication management, including Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT) as needed.
• Coordinate the work of consulting medical specialists.
• Act as physician member of a multi-disciplinary team for clinical work or program development.
• Train and supervise medical students, interns and residents.
• Provide clinical supervision to licensed and professional staff.
• Prepare reports and maintain records of activities.
• Conduct and direct individual and group psychotherapy.
• Consult and work with other medical and/or mental health professionals in the community when necessary.
• Confer with clients' relatives or loved ones regarding illness and treatment.
• Maintain electronic records of diagnosis, treatment and prognosis according to BHRS standards and other regulatory agencies.
• Develop comprehensive case histories.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

Board Certification or completion of an accredited psychiatric residency program.

Licensure/Certification:

• License to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of California.
• Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
