ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting for part-time Recreation Leaders II/III assigned to the Adaptive Program. The main goal of the City of Gilroy’s Recreation Division is to offer excellent recreation programs that provide community members with a wide range of opportunities to celebrate life and community through people, parks, programs, and special events which are delivered by a team of employees dedicated to offering quality recreational, social, and cultural services to all Gilroy residents. 
 
Under direct supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader II/III will assist, plan, organize, and lead the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs. Program area focus is Adaptive (Special Needs), but you might be asked to support another recreation area.

 When assigned to the Adaptive Program, the leader will have an opportunity to have hands-on experience working with a special needs population.  Disabilities of participants vary in range from non-communicative to diminished motor skills to severe autism.  The position will report to an experienced staff member.  As related experience is gained as noted in the job qualifications and requirements, and with the recommendation in the employee’s performance evaluation, Recreation Leaders can advance from Recreation Leader II to Recreation Leader III.  As the employee advances through the job series the employee will take on more responsibility and more challenging work assignments.

Recreation Specialist

Position Details:

Under general supervision, this position is assigned to perform a variety of duties to support the users of various indoor and outdoor City facilities and programs. The Recreation Specialist will oversee programs and rental activities. This includes opening and closing buildings, managing swimming pool patrons and activities, monitoring facility use including facility and guest safety during rentals, setting up tables and chairs for rentals, City programs and events, performing light janitorial and custodial duties, ensuring compliance of established rules and procedures for the use of facilities, and performing other duties as required. Within this classification, specific positions will include: Senior Facility Attendant, Pool Manager (Lifeguard certification required) and Manager on Duty (MOD) for the facility.

Examples of Duties for these positions may include:

• Overseeing operation of swimming pools or “dry” activities and rentals
• Staff lead for issues related to programs and customers
• Opening and/or closing facility
• Monitoring facility for safety, cleanliness and appropriate use
• Checking daily facility schedule and/or rental setup diagrams
• Set up and break down the facility for rentals and events

• Cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing assigned program area
• Greeting patrons and answering phone calls
• Providing patrons with information regarding programs, rentals, facility directions, schedules, site rules, policies and regulations.
• Maintain professional, courteous behavior toward co-workers, members of the public, and all other contacts in the course of work.
• Directing patron questions to the appropriate department when necessary
• Use computer for data entry, roster printing, processing registrations, memberships, rental reservation and POS system
• Providing first aid care in the event of incident and writing incident report
• Assist with miscellaneous office tasks, i.e. retrieving and distributing mail, receiving shipments, delivering items to program sites
• Set-up and operate audio, video, or other technology focused equipment for programs, uses, and events.
• Assist with activities including but not limited to sports, wellness, programs, classes and special events

• Promptly reporting facility or customer issues to supervisor
• Assist in the inventory of facility supplies and equipment.
• Performing related duties as assigned

Recreation Specialist-Pool Manager Duties and qualifications:

• Manages and supervises assigned operations to achieve goals within available resources
• Provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long term plans
• Supervises classes and co-sponsored programs
• Actively scan the pool, deck and locker rooms for safety and potential hazards and address the situation properly to remedy it
• Recognize and respond to emergencies in accordance with the facility emergency action plan
• Know and enforce all facility rules, policies, and procedures while providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all patrons
• Perform daily inspections or equipment and facility; correct and/or report any and all unsafe conditions to supervisor
• Teach swim lessons and aquatic classes to a variety of skill and age levels; evaluate participants according to program outlines and goals
• Lifeguard Instructor certification required
• Must test negative for Tuberculosis within the past 2 years
•  Must be patient and courteous with all members of the public
• Be dependable and punctual
• Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to withstand exposure to the elements outdoors and in enclosed spaces
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

Work is assigned at both indoor and outdoor facilities, and may include exposure to unsanitary conditions, odors, cleaning chemicals, and some noise. The successful candidate must be able to work variable hours, including mornings, late evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Physical Demands

Light to moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds); pushing; pulling; crawling; climbing; and prolonged periods of standing. Lifting above the shoulders, working off a ladder, manual dexterity, and good vision and hearing are also required.

This position does not provide any benefits, apart from paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes.  Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. Position Details

Under close supervision, maintain constant watch over a public swimming pool facility to enforce regulations and prevent accident, assist swimmers in distress and provide emergency and routine first aid. Create a safe and positive atmosphere for all participants and perform basic facility maintenance duties.

Work is at the Aquatics Center at San Bruno Park and is performed both indoors and out, with exposure to heat, sun, water, noise, dust, pollens and chemicals/cleaning agents used in an aquatics complex. There is potential for slip hazards when working near water and exposure to blood borne pathogens when rendering first aid. Working hours will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

MTC’s Technology Services Section (TSS) is a mature IT organization serving approximately 400 customers. The team provides support to building technology in the 500,000 square foot Bay Area Metro Center. TSS also operates a shared services organization that serves two additional government agencies for a total of approximately 1,000 customers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants with a degree issued from an institution outside the United States must have their transcripts evaluated by an academic accrediting service and provide proof of equivalency along with their application.  Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience effectively leading and managing a division or department doing related work. Experience should include a minimum of four (4) years senior management experience in agency administration, operations, management or similar position. Managing administrative support services; budget development, analysis and management; business or public administration; presenting to boards, commissions and/or committees, responding to public inquiries and requests, reporting to executive management.

Preferred Experience:  At least 5-7 years in IT Management

License/Certificate:  Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a safe driving record, or the ability to provide alternate transportation which is approved by the appointing authority.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Program Manager II in the Information Technology Department! When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record. The Information Technology Department’s Development Services Solutions team is seeking qualified candidates to fill the Information System Analyst positions to support the development and maintenance for several Off-The-Shelf (OTS) and custom systems and applications that support operations of the Planning, Building, Code Enforcement department and the Development Services process at the City of San Jose. The primary role of this position is to act as technical lead in supporting and managing diverse departmental business systems that include web and client servers’ application, database, Permitting and Compliance, public web portal, Business Intelligence, GIS, Inspection scheduling/Dispatch, Digital Inspection and performing all duties necessary for maintaining, supporting and optimize systems.  This position must ensure business processes for users are documented and that systems meet customer expectations.  This position is responsible for ongoing user training, report creation, systems administrations, system support, maintenance, and programming efforts and must maintain excellent customer relations.

The ideal candidate must be able to work in a dynamic environment and can effectively perform operational tasks in addition to implement projects.  This is a professional level in the IT professional management IT series and will be expected to act in a supervisory role over Sr. System Application Programmers and System Application Programmers.

The Information Technology Department’s Development Services Solutions team is seeking for two qualified candidates to fill the Senior Applications Developer positions to support the development and maintenance of the above systems and applications as well as to assist with emerging needs around data analysis, data extraction, data mapping, and reporting functions associated with the above systems and business requirements. The ideal candidate should have technical experience in at least one or more items in each of the following four skills groups: 

1.    Systems: Granicus AMANDA, SAP Crystal Reports, Yellowfin and/or Power BI, Enterprise Content Management, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) such as Mule ESB, and/or Case Management/Tracking systems.

2.    Languages: PL/SQL, SQL, Java, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Visual Basic, and/or ASP

3.    Integration Development Environments (IDEs): Eclipse, Toad, SQL Developer Oracle Developer, API and Web Services development, and/or Mule ESB AnyPoint IDEs.

4.    Others: Project Management concepts, business requirement gathering, version control system (Git, CVS), software testing methodologies, Automation test tools, Office 365 Suite, Alphinat’s SmartGuide, Windows Desktop and Server OS environments, basic system administration, RESTful Webservices, data structures, web based technologies (Angular, React, Spring), and/or IIS and J2EE server administration.

·         Enterprise Content Management (Custom and SharePoint)

Duties may include but are not limited to:

·        Developing new or customizing existing systems and applications using PL/SQL, SQL, Java, Visual Basic, JavaScript, ASP, and/or HTML/CSS using Agile development practices.

·        Documenting defects and feature enhancements

·        Gathering reporting requirements, conducting data analysis and creating reports using Yellowfin, Crystal Reports and Power BI.

·         Maintaining and upgrading existing systems and applications.

·         Providing end-user training and support.

·         Preparing and updating end-user and technical documentation.

·         Mentoring team members and reviewing code.
