The City of Menlo Park is seeking applicants for temporary positions in the Public Works Maintenance Division. Depending on their experience, individuals may be assigned to work in Trees, Streets, Facilities, Parks, or Water. Temporary employees will operate and maintain a variety of maintenance equipment, including dump trucks, stump grinders, brush chippers, aerial lifts, forklifts, lawn mowers, backpack blowers, backhoes, jack hammers, lawn edger’s, hedge trimmers, concrete saws, chain saws and hand tools.
This position will assist with City of Menlo Park special events during their employment. Applicant must be able to take initiative, be responsible and correct errors as needed. Good interpersonal communication skills, the ability to think critically and the flexibility to work both independently and within a group environment are required. Must be a quick learner with the ability to assess situations and make sound, independent decisions and the ability to perform complex tasks without detailed supervision.

Temporary library assistants in youth services assist patrons and other staff members. They may provide story time sessions, host programs, create displays and bulletin boards, and assist with collection maintenance and development.

The Menlo Park library seeks per diem librarians to work in the youth services division. Possession of a Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association accredited college or university is required; previous public library experience desirable but not required. This is an on-call position that would fill coverage gaps on the library’s service desks at the main library or at our branch.
